He is a great fighter, but he beat Olivera and someone coming up in weight 3 rounds to 2 in a very close decision, taking some pretty reasonable damage. Two very good wins, but he has to get a bunch more wins from top competition to be truly considered P4P in my book. If Usman gets his belt back and he went up a division and beat Usman - undisputed - or at least beats all the top contenders in 155. Reality is, other than Charles, he hasn’t beaten any other top 155er. Poirer, Justin G, B. Dariush, or Chandler. Volk in his division has beaten Max 3 times, Ortega, Aldo, Mendes - Volk has a way more impressive resume in his own weight division. Time will tell.

Javier didn't answer that final question. They asked about the limited time Islam had to get back to full fight weight and he said he didn't have anything to do with the weight cut. Either he is so negligently ignorant about the critical aspect or he was avoiding making excuses, because we've all seen how jacked Islam is in his fights where normally he'd have 36 hours to recover. He looked small compared to Alex here and the real reason why he struggled.
For him to overcome despite this disadvantage is a real testament to his abilities. Next fight, with proper recovery, I'd be way more confident in a finish than I was before this fight.
