So as long as you keep the maximum floor of say 1.5km above the ground it looks good. The curtains are pulled back once you're below that. That Canyon run? Early to mid 2000's called ED, and they want their texture maps back. I think the people who are saying that the map, while ambitious, looks half-baked, are the ones who will be running ops as Helo/A10 pilots. I went on the DCS message boards to check, and it was funny, for every handful of people saying that it looks like crap down low, you get a staunch defender saying "Nuh-uh" and then they'll post screen shots from like 24km, totally unaware that they're proving the very person that they are trying to debunk as correct.
ED was pretty straight forward about the Southwest part of the map being the only part completed so far in high def. I flew the Cayuse there in a video prior to this one is was awesome down low. I feel the feedback is a little harsh given the transparency from day 1 and the fact they are doing the entire country. Hopefully the hate slows down as they flesh out the other sectors.
We were flying up North and in several locations that have not had the detailed textures applied yet. When we shot this video, we started in the wrong location. It will improve 100% as they flesh the map out. I fully understand why they were selling certain regions of Afghanistan. It takes time to do an entire country in high detail. It was either get it in chunks so we could start flying it and enjoying it, or wait a very long time for it all to be done at once. Simple solution, buy it and enjoy the high rendered areas currently available, or standby for the entire country to be completed.
Flew in a KA50 but a little underwhelming. I'll have to take a F14 for a spin and get a different perspective.
