I've been making videos, too, so I understand how intention and execution tend to diverge, sometimes. I second what one commenter said about using a solid color shirt. On top of that, I'd recommend scripting the tutorial. Lay it out like a lesson plan and rehearse it before shooting. That way there's less digression and repetition, and you hit only the necessary beats that keep the message from being muddled. All that said, you've at least provided me a sense of how to do something like this, so I appreciate that. I think, if you wanted to take another shot at it with the solid color shirt and critiquing this video to see what you could edit or revise, that would make for an excellent redux. Thanks for posting this!
You are an excellent presenter & this was informative, but I would suggest when you are presenting use a solid color garment. It was very difficult to really see what you were showing. I have found that when I alter your way & gradually ease the fabric down, sometimes it gets tight in the bust. What I eventually started to do was put the garment inside out & sew the top part of the shoulder without taking the sleeve off. I start just above the bust & ease to the top. & then down to the same length as front.
Thank you for showing me how to fix the problem I always have with purchased tops and blouses. Some times I have to take up the shoulder seam too. Many thanks!😊
Hi Heather Finally I have found a video that addresses the problem that I experience quite often! Thank you for sharing this information in great detail so that it make complete sense👏 Have a wonderful day!
If there is a big seam allowance you can sew the seam allowance smaller. If it's a 1/2 inch seam allowance you can reduce it to a 1/4 inch seam allowance. Does that make sense? If that's not enough you'd have to add fabric in.
Where did u get your tailor chalk and the brand name? I’ve been trying to find Tailor chart. but on Amazon everybody’s complaining about it cracks and when they got it. The chalk was cracked up. Where do you find a good Taylor chalk ????
I like these two: 1. www.wawak.com/Cutting-Measuring/Marking-Chalk-Pens/Chalk/wawak-wax-tailors-chalk-48pack/?sku=CK1000WH 2. www.amazon.com/Carmel-Super-Glide-Tailors-Chalk-White/dp/B074KWLMVK/
If the sleeve is too small, you can take the side seam of the shirt in a little more. If the sleeve is too big, you can cut a little more of the armhole to make it bigger.

This is the first tutorial that I've watched for taking in a sleeve that makes me feel confident to try myself. Thank you!!!
You can do it!

Yes exactly..i can't even see the seams or whichever clearly

you're welcome! I'm glad it was helpful!
Hi Heather

Have a wonderful day!
You are so welcome!
Hi Heather, do you have a tutorial for altering a drop shoulder sleeve? I can't wait for this trend to go away? It is so unflattering. Help!
I don't at the moment. Are you talking about a slouchy sweatshirt or t-shirt with a dropped sleeve?
Thank you, great video & reconfirmed what I thought I had to do to bring the shoulder seam in. Many thanks.😊
Wonderful!
Thank you for this! It was clear and simple and very helpful
Glad it was helpful!
It was super easy and worked to a tee
Yay! I'm so glad!
Great sewing tips
Glad you like them!
It wd be easier to see where you are marking on a solid dark fabric rather than a print.
Thanks for the tip!
@@HeatherHandmadeuseless 🤦♀️only because multicolour of fabric 👉😫👀
Thank you for the clear presentation!
Glad it was helpful!
Do you have recommendations for making a blouse fit looser in the shoulders? Pls help I’m desperate

Is it possible to do the opposite and bring the shoulders out if needed ?
Only if you have a large seam allowance. You could add fabric but then you would see it.

Great idea
Thanks dear😊
A bit difficult to follow on patterned fabric, the sample would of been better seen on plain colour sleeve.
Just saying.
Yes I think so too. She may not have a plain one to demo
This video would have been better with a different shirt. So we could see better what you are doing. What if the armhole doesn’t fit?
If the sleeve is too small, you can take the side seam of the shirt in a little more. If the sleeve is too big, you can cut a little more of the armhole to make it bigger.
This would have been easier to watch is the blouse had been a solid color.
thanknyounsoo much u awsome
thank you!
You should not use a pattern top to demo, can’t see properly what you are doing
We only came here to make smaller, you're drifting & repeating
Not helpful 😕
Too slow, hair in way annoying & patterned blouse too difficult to see alterations... thanks but sorry!
