For those who have fear of the chains breaking as posted in several comments, you don’t have to worry about that at all. As a flatbed truck driver, I use chains to secure various loads and need to know that strength of them. The smallest chain at 1/4” and lowest grade is rated for 1,300 lbs. Each swing on the ride has two occupants, and multiple chains attached to the swing. One 1/4” chain alone at the lowest working load limit rating is enough to hold the swing up. That ride looks terrifying even if not stuck in a storm. Restraints and even the chains look insufficient. I wouldn't want that being the only thing keeping me from dying. This isn't some carnival kiddy ride that goes 10 ft off the ground. They look like they're 2-300 ft in the air.
The reporter said its ~250ft, so yeah. Personally I feel like a lot of rides don't have suffiecient restraints. Its wild that amusment parks still end up being so statistically safe.
People that move there legs a lot most of the time have anxiety related issues soo maybe not scared or maybe the constant moving helps the brain a little from spiraling lol
That is just terrifying. Imagine have a fun ride and your all the way up and you look down and then you get terrified from looking on how high you are. Thats just terrifying dude.
I;ve been on that ride at various theme parks in the US and no how does it go up that high. You barely in the swing with the bar being loosely going across your lap. You feel like you're going to slip out or the chain will snap. This is super scary that they're up that high!
@@2004mojo there are different swing rides some go very high and some stay low I remember goin to a park like nope not getting on that and ended up getting on a little baby one I guess cause it didn’t go high they called it the baby one but it was perfect for me 😩
@@mrsmccoy7777 But this is outside the US. Correct me if I'm wrong but most amusement parks under the same banner in the US have the same rides like the swings. If there is a swing ride that goes up that high in the US correct me. That's is a very loose feeling ride and people pull those bars up while the ride is going. I don't think it would pass a safety code in most parks at that height. Especially since they let kids ride it.
I won't take my family to a 6 Flags in AMERICA!! Mexico?! I'm 41 now. When I was 9 I almost fell out of the Ring of Fire ride at the 6 Flags in St. Louis. The cars held 2 people but it was 1 bar that went over the lap of both people. No seat belts. I was 9 at the time; we're talking 5'0", 70lbs. I got seated next to a big fat guy. The bar fit him nice and snug. Me? There was daylight. The ride basically goes around in a big circle, which is cool. The problem is that eventually it stops with you upside down. I was falling out of the ride and trying to grasp onto the bar, which was slippery. Thank God the guy next to me just grabbed me with his right arm and held me in place. I would have died. When the ride was over I was freaking out and my parents didn't believe me. They said I was just being dramatic. I never rode another 6 Flags ride in my life. My parents were pissed at me for "wasting their money" and "ruining everyone's good time".

@@jhenry0688not always...for some of us, that's a little of the rare time we get alone, away from a bustling household and believe me we stretch that break as much as possible.
The wind and rain would hurt so much more than being on the ground. It's almost like they were thinking, "welp it's starting to storm, lets make a run for it, and pray the patrons don't get hit by possible debris, or lightning, and then we'll let them back down when the coast is clear." I went on the Kingda Ka at Six Flags Great Adventure in NJ, and the 2nd time I went on it, it was only sprinkling, so they let everyone on. Mannnn... When we were launched, going from 0 to 128mph in 3.5 seconds, then straight up 456 feet. The sprinkles of rain felt like needles stabbing me all over my face, and everyone else's. After we made it back to get off, we told the workers and they did a test run with a ride operator, and then he believed us 😂 then closed it down until it cleared up.

@@M_SC I know storms, and if I were stuck on a ride, I'd want the swings over anything that goes upside down. That's all I was saying. Best not to go to an amusement park when a storm could happen.
I was actually stuck upside for 30 minutes. I think it was at the rodeo. I was just small enough that i was slipping through my harness and lap bar. I was actually holding on for dear life. I could hear the metal creaking as if it was gonna break. I still have nightmares sometimes about that. The next year, the same exact ride, someone actually flew out of the harness. Fell about 50 ft through the air, landed on a random person on the ground. Both died on impact.
I was at Six Flags Mid America in my teens when one of the sky lift gondola cars fell and killed people. I was very close to the impact and ran towards the broken gondola on the ground and saw legs and arms sticking out. I was terrified. I don’t do ride the rides at amusement parks anymore
Wow. That's crazy that you experienced that. I never heard of that before and had to look it up to confirm it, happened in 1978. Mid America is now Six Flags St. Louis and that's probably the reason they no longer have a sky ride. I went to that park this year and had a great time but old six flags was WILD, that's the same park that converted their mine train into a stand-up coaster.. insane
@@evan_headley yes, I was 14 years old. I lived in Memphis and we were on vacation there. The year before that (I think) I was at Libertyland and Elvis Presley passed away. They announced it over the intercom and stopped the rides for a few minutes. He was very loved in Memphis and rented the park for family and friends before. Strange days
@@marcotelli1601 my family and my cousin had all ridden the skylift earlier that day to get an idea of where we wanted to explore. Could’ve been us. I’ll never forget the firetrucks and helicopters. People had to climb down ladders with a strong storm approaching. The park was closed for the rest of the day and rain checks were given. We never went back though. To me, the ARCH in St. Louis stole the show.
this is literally the scariest ride ever. Went on one in Texas. you are dangling 250 ft in the air by a 50 foot CHAIN and nothing else to reinforce it. when it swings at full speed you are tilted at like a 45 degree angle going in circles. at least you have a little lap belt to keep you from falling out 💀

why is no one talking about how this guy managed to record in a storm with strong winds up in the air and not drop his phone? That’s quite impressive 😮
The newscaster states THEY WERE RESCUED....meaning they didn't even get the ride working and had to individually rescue each person....like with a firetruck ladder I assume....crazy.
I work in an amusement park and it's unbelievable how many people love to go on these things when the rain is pouring down. Don't tell me that the sky was perfectly blue when they went on this ride.
What’s more unbelievable is that the park still operates these rides in storms. 😑🤦🏾♀️ I worked at universal studios and they would even have bartenders on full computer registers outside in rain that you couldn’t even see through and didn’t give a rats ass whether or not they got electrocuted. They didn’t shut down a single ride either!
@thejoe9065 you are 100% right. I live in Mexico City, at three miles from this park. These storms occur daily during the rainy season and are easy to predict in at least, 30 minutes in advance.
I do not understand why they were even operating in the first place have we ever heard of lightning and metal not a good combination they never should have been on that ride from the jump
Close your eyes and think of a good act you did and someone you truly love and know your strong and yes it's easy for me to say at this moment but your strong and you've done at least 1 good deed and have someone you love even if it's a pet or a car

Stupid enough to visit when the weather looks bad, stupid enough to get on when the storm is soooo close.... can't put all the blame on the park for being open.
these people went on that ride in Mexico. The fact that they survived is the entire point of the thrill. To be shocked when something goes wrong is actually the shocking part.
Crazy they allowed riders knowing a storm brewing like that. The Six Flags here they would shut down the rides in advance of a storm like that with winds etc.
lmao at Six Flags Fiesta Texas something similar happened to me. My friends and I got on the Goliath as the last ride of the day and it was starting to get grey outside after a hot sunny day. We were also on Acid and we waited for the front seats on the ride. When we sat down it started lightly drizzling. We went up to the first drop and while we were still facing up the ride stopped and it started POURING. Minutes went by and we started seeing lightning and hearing thunder pretty close by. The entire time we were hollering and laughing and sadly the little girls behind us were scared and crying. After about 15 minutes of sitting there in the downpour the ride clanked and we started moving forward and we went through the ride in the storm and the rain felt like HAIL or almost like glass against our skin. Great ride I thank God for that experience

Some rides should be illegal, public safety should come first!
Hello!

The wind and rain would hurt so much more than being on the ground. It's almost like they were thinking, "welp it's starting to storm, lets make a run for it, and pray the patrons don't get hit by possible debris, or lightning, and then we'll let them back down when the coast is clear."
I went on the Kingda Ka at Six Flags Great Adventure in NJ, and the 2nd time I went on it, it was only sprinkling, so they let everyone on.

Knowing that a storm was coming, should have been a red flag to shut down rides for safety
Safety? Surely, you jest. This is Mexico.
storms in Mexico can blow in quickly and pass quickly
And not get on them
Just recently, there were people hanging upside down for more than a half hour during a power outage. I'd rather be in a swing than upside down.
You don’t know summer storms apparently
You are absolutely right about the ride that stopped and people were hanging uside down.First off head down means blood rushes to you head then add fear on top of that and I don't think I could handle that!
@@JanaJacob-ii1bq plus, the injuries to the neck and shoulders from the stress and blood sitting on the brain can cause blood pooling and hemorrhages. Omg that's HORRIBLE!!! I'm glad you're safe tho, that's so so sad for the others.

I was at Six Flags Mid America in my teens when one of the sky lift gondola cars fell and killed people. I was very close to the impact and ran towards the broken gondola on the ground and saw legs and arms sticking out. I was terrified. I don’t do ride the rides at amusement parks anymore
Why? Now your good for live.
What's the odds to happen again.
Yeah i don't fuck w that stuff. As a warehouse operator I know how little it takes to mess up a safety situation.
this is literally the scariest ride ever.
