A while back you mentioned showing us an inventory broadcast Mod. I got to the end of this thinking you wern't gonna show it here and man there it was. I love you man. You just made Darkness Falls 1000% better.
This video majorly helped me. I didn't expect the mods to be so simple to install. I have a feeling that now that I play with the trader always open I'll never want to go back lol
@@marie-eagle Definitely give it a go. It is a challege, but doesn't change as many features as a mod like Darkness Falls does. So it could be a good start. The dev is planning on a lot of changes in Alpha 21.
@@redstonedad6434 I honestly think it would better in Alpha 21 for GNS to do that. There is so much coming in A21, and content creators like "bling". The more bling the better. So with the additional bling in A21 for Apocalypse Now, I think it would be a good time for a series.

There really isn't that much grinding in UL. Sure, you have to mine more than in vanilla, but it's not as crazy as people make it. Also you can simply increase block damage to 300% which speeds up mining significantly.

Love it! I always wondered what ModLauncher looked like but never had a need to use it since I manually handled all my mods. Very nicely put! Also, are we getting hints at future projects? Would love to see a GNS run through ApocNow!
I'm giving heavy consideration for AN but for now I need a break from big overhaul mods. So just light mods on the next series. 30-35 planned episodes. And we'll see where A21 development is when it's over 🙂
@@GunsNerdsandSteel makes sense! You just did DF and UL back to back, time to unwind for a bit! There's some big changes to AN coming with A21, so it may be best to wait and let those updates come down the line first. AN will be a completely new beast with A21!

I just make my own modlets when we play vanilla no overhaul, but for UL or DF we play it as is. And yes the people seem to be asking if its ApocalypseNow coming up next ! I hope so too xD
The mod launcher have changed a lot and it doesn't looks like this anymore.. I feel like an new tutorial is needed. or at least an updated one. still do like your way of explaining make it easy to understand
What needs to happen is the video uploader needs to rename the video title/description to say that Mod Launcher has changed and that the video is no longer applicable to the new version. Doubt they will do that lol.
Dude thank you for this! I've been wanting to tweak the S core stuff in the Romero mod and had no idea how to do it until now. Question though... Mine doesn't have the code in there for broadcasting containers. Can I just find that somewhere else and copy it back in to make it work?
well, giving this a try. got the launcher running, loaded up the undead legacy, added a couple modlets...and now I've been waiting for it to build and launch the world...for at least five minutes...oh! it just launched! hooray! first launch is always soooo long...
For most mods you don't have to make a shortcut. I personally never used one and it always started with the included mods. Darkness Falls and Undead Legacy at least work perfectly fine with starting in Steam if you put it in the original folder. And if you want to change the mod just rename the folder.
This is great. S core looks like the exact mod I've been looking for. Configurable overhaul mod.. I'd also be interested to see a similar video on mod creation. I know you made a zombie spawner mod and I'd be interested in seeing how that process went.
The fire concept is good? ...but it feels like it NEEDS ways to extinguish the fire. Maybe some feature to allow you to throw bottles of water at it, or toss buckets of water to put out the flames.

word of warning to all: i went into the mod launcher to try out some modlets and when i went back into my UL save my character was completely reset so i lost all my levels and items but the game was still at day 65 and the map was still as i left it....back up your saves before messing with mods
Adding and removing modlets can be tricky on existing saves. Use caution! However, if you use the ModLauncher, you'll find backups under your default folder's Saves... ie, C:\7D2D\Saves\. There's no auto-restore yet though.
I think this tutorial will be one of your slow burn videos. I can see it in the millions. Since you started DF, I tried tinkering with mods. The videos I've seen have some combination of rambling, poor production, or the explanation requires one to watch another video to fill in the gaps. Very well done, friend. Even an idiot like me finally managed to get UL and Apoc to finally work.

@alpha-_-striker-4302 if i remember correctly i think my friends had to download the mods as well and it worked just fine. Try with just the host installing mods and trying to join him if that dont work just make everyone download them.
I tried this after playing 7dtd a while and watching your videos. Made a copy of the game like you said. Downloaded a few of the minor quality of life mods from your other video into my recent game. The game crashed because of the item stack mod, after deleting them out of the folder again, my whole character and progress had reset.... my inventory, level skillpoints etc.. while al the inventory outside of my character did stay the same. But after already played 70 hours this is pretty f*cked. Deleted the copy and opened the master safe with steam, ITS THE SAME..... PLEASE IF SOMEBODY KNOWS HOW I CAN FIX THIS AND MAYBE GO BACK A FEW SAVES OR SOMETHING??? help is muchhhh appreciated
I currently don't know the solution to your problem, but resolving mod conflicts (is that is what is going on for you?) is out of the scope of this video.
How do mods affect multiplayer if the other players don't use the same (or any) mods? For instance I play with friends by just starting a game and inviting friends into it. Would me having a texture improvement or UI over haul or whatever mods 'mess' with how my friends play?
Quick question if you have time~ I fairly recently started playing this game and I’m hooked. Is there a way to repair scrap/metal armor that you wear. I noticed repair kits don’t work on it.
I would LOVE to find a 7DTD mod that focused more on a regular post-apocalypse instead of a "zombie" apocalypse. Sure, there can be zombies (or not, if you turn off zombie spawning), but I'd like to see roving packs of wild animals. Maybe, the blood moon can drive them crazy. Yes, there could feasibly be random survivors, but I'd like to see survivors you could ally with and form a community with. Then, there is the Duke we hear nothing about. What role does he play over the traders? What if the traders were in a tough spot and got overrun? Would he save them or leave them to fend for themselves? What if he decided he just didn't need them anymore? So far, the Duke seems like a mafia figure that extorts people under threat of consequences if they don't comply, which is what happened to the main character at the very beginning. What if the traders needed rescuing? There could be a quest for that. Afterward, we could help repair and fortify their compound while taking war to the Duke. I don't know about you, but I would love to rescue Jen. If inclined, the mod writer could make her 'grateful'...at least enough to make her stop promising to kiss you and actually do it. Personally, I'd want the option of a mobile base like a vehicle that you can modify with crafting station upgrades and storage/turret mods. Where can I find a mod like that?
I don't think it's viable anymore to simply put an unzipped mod folder into "Mods". I think the contents of the unzipped mod folder have to be put into "Mods". I could be wrong.

well dang I did everything you said I even unloaded the game and reloaded to basic but Darkness Falls will not load. the game launcher did load as V5 instead of V3 like yours but all others followed and this dang game just hates me...
Make a copy of your game and re-name the copy to something like 7D2D-DarknessFalls. Create a "Mods" folder and stick in the game directory. Put the Darkness Falls mod CONTENTS (not the unzipped folder) in the Mods folder. Open the game by double-clicking on the 7DaysToDie.exe file that's in the newly created copy of the game, NOT the 7DaysToDie_EAC.exe that's in there. That should open the modded game. I hope that helps!
Brand new to modding, going to add the fire mod... Where is a mod for a fire extingisher so the base I build wont burn to the ground. Thanks in advance!!!!
What about mods for multi-player? I know on your server you have several modlets preloaded. We computer laymen don't have to download the mods to use them, but is that true for all mods? For example, I would like to play darkness falls with my friends but do we all need to download the mod or just the server host?
Modlets that only modify XML files already in the game only need to be installed by the server host, which will broadcast the changes to clients. Mods that take content from new files (eg. any overhaul mod, or mods that add new items/textures/etc) WILL need to be installed by clients as well.
GNS, My friends and I are planning to set up a dedicated server with the newest version of undead legacy set up. I would like to add the fire mechanic that is in SCore mentioned in this video. I am concerned that all the other functionalities in SCore will possibly conflict with the other parts of UL. Do you have any experience with this and UL at all?

The modlets section is broken, I'm clicking install but it gives me a quick window before instantly closing again without actually doing the instillation. I've even tried other mods I wouldn't normally use and it give the same reaction to each modlet
So other than setting up SCore you just drop 0-SCore into the mod folder? I'm trying to install it but 7d2d just crashes to desktop. I've tried it with UL and Vanillia. Sorry to bother you with this but theres next to nothing on the internet concerning this mod. Any help would be very appreciated.

It depends on the mod and it also depends on if you have a dedicated server set up or if you're doing peer to peer. I would say the safest bet is to make sure everyone has the mod installed
i followed the steps downloaded darkness falls with the launcher and there is no play button just modlets and update is there something i did wrong without realising?

Modlauncher is kind of a mess. Doesn´t work for 3 out of 5 people for us. Manual install is the best. I even prefer manual over steam workshop. Conan Exiles is the best example for that. Btw, how about conan exiles for your channel? Vanilla first then with Age of Calamitous and/or EEWA that would be a ton of content. Regarding Score, that´s a problem with many mods for all games. They simply exist and there is no or just a very vague description of it. I am pretty sure i missed out on a ton of good mods just because i couldn´t find out what they actually do unless i install them and try it for myself.
Yeah Manual install is BEST, but there are sooooo many people who are not savie with a computer that 'easy' internet programs are the ONLY thing they can handle. 😑 Give me manual install every time!!

@@SphereII Well, i am a fan of less is more when it comes to my PC. Clean and tidy. So if it isn´t something that is absolutly mandatry, i will avoid it. Less things installed means less things can go wrong and it´s one thing less that needs attention when troubleshooting. It took me a good amount of time to convince the others to do it manually. But if i have some spare time, i might join in for trouble shooting.
@@stephanstangl5573 One of the requirements for being hosted in the mod launcher is that its available for manual downloads. The mod launcher isn't designed for people who want control, flexibility, or advanced users. It's just another level of accessibility for users who want more than vanilla, but don't know how. With regards to the SCore, it's not intended to be used by a casual player directly. It's a library of features that overhaulers can use, who may not know how to code them, or don't have time to code them. For example, with food spoilage, several overhauls wanted it, so I wrote a core feature. Now multiple overhaulers can concentrate their time on balance and bling, rather than just trying to get some kind of feature written from scratch.
Glad you said nexus, I didn't want to install another mod loader, I like using vortex mod loader, love it's automatic load order and fix feature plus I can mod several games from it, lol got 4 different games so far guess 7days will be the 5th.
neither of the manual options for modlets are working for me and idk why. i made a folder in both appdata and the master folder but when i launch the game theres just not mods and its just vanilla

Mod laucnher didnt even work. I downloaded war of the walkers, and when i tried makint a new game, it just gets stuck ssying loading game data.

i believe all you need is raw iron in your inventory to repair scrap armor.

So far, the Duke seems like a mafia figure that extorts people under threat of consequences if they don't comply, which is what happened to the main character at the very beginning. What if the traders needed rescuing? There could be a quest for that.
Afterward, we could help repair and fortify their compound while taking war to the Duke. I don't know about you, but I would love to rescue Jen. If inclined, the mod writer could make her 'grateful'...at least enough to make her stop promising to kiss you and actually do it. Personally, I'd want the option of a mobile base like a vehicle that you can modify with crafting station upgrades and storage/turret mods. Where can I find a mod like that?

I don't think it's viable anymore to simply put an unzipped mod folder into "Mods". I think the contents of the unzipped mod folder have to be put into "Mods". I could be wrong.
Thank you so much that really helped I am trying to download Darkness Falls and I think the problem was I put mods instead of Mods so will try and see if that fixes it.

well dang I did everything you said I even unloaded the game and reloaded to basic but Darkness Falls will not load. the game launcher did load as V5 instead of V3 like yours but all others followed and this dang game just hates me...
Make a copy of your game and re-name the copy to something like 7D2D-DarknessFalls. Create a "Mods" folder and stick in the game directory. Put the Darkness Falls mod CONTENTS (not the unzipped folder) in the Mods folder. Open the game by double-clicking on the 7DaysToDie.exe file that's in the newly created copy of the game, NOT the 7DaysToDie_EAC.exe that's in there. That should open the modded game. I hope that helps!

What about mods for multi-player? I know on your server you have several modlets preloaded. We computer laymen don't have to download the mods to use them, but is that true for all mods? For example, I would like to play darkness falls with my friends but do we all need to download the mod or just the server host?
Modlets that only modify XML files already in the game only need to be installed by the server host, which will broadcast the changes to clients. Mods that take content from new files (eg. any overhaul mod, or mods that add new items/textures/etc) WILL need to be installed by clients as well.

GNS, My friends and I are planning to set up a dedicated server with the newest version of undead legacy set up. I would like to add the fire mechanic that is in SCore mentioned in this video. I am concerned that all the other functionalities in SCore will possibly conflict with the other parts of UL. Do you have any experience with this and UL at all?

This is nice !! Now I wonder, you can't play a world with mods with your friends? Because you said you had the vanilla intact to go back and play multiplayer. Is it possible to, lets say, 5 people install the same mods and play together?
The modlets section is broken, I'm clicking install but it gives me a quick window before instantly closing again without actually doing the instillation. I've even tried other mods I wouldn't normally use and it give the same reaction to each modlet

So other than setting up SCore you just drop 0-SCore into the mod folder? I'm trying to install it but 7d2d just crashes to desktop. I've tried it with UL and Vanillia.

It depends on the mod and it also depends on if you have a dedicated server set up or if you're doing peer to peer. I would say the safest bet is to make sure everyone has the mod installed

Modlauncher is kind of a mess. Doesn´t work for 3 out of 5 people for us. Manual install is the best. I even prefer manual over steam workshop. Conan Exiles is the best example for that. Btw, how about conan exiles for your channel? Vanilla first then with Age of Calamitous and/or EEWA that would be a ton of content. Regarding Score, that´s a problem with many mods for all games. They simply exist and there is no or just a very vague description of it. I am pretty sure i missed out on a ton of good mods just because i couldn´t find out what they actually do unless i install them and try it for myself.
Yeah Manual install is BEST, but there are sooooo many people who are not savie with a computer that 'easy' internet programs are the ONLY thing they can handle. 😑

@@SphereII Well, i am a fan of less is more when it comes to my PC. Clean and tidy. So if it isn´t something that is absolutly mandatry, i will avoid it. Less things installed means less things can go wrong and it´s one thing less that needs attention when troubleshooting. It took me a good amount of time to convince the others to do it manually. But if i have some spare time, i might join in for trouble shooting.

The mod launcher isn't designed for people who want control, flexibility, or advanced users. It's just another level of accessibility for users who want more than vanilla, but don't know how.
With regards to the SCore, it's not intended to be used by a casual player directly. It's a library of features that overhaulers can use, who may not know how to code them, or don't have time to code them. For example, with food spoilage, several overhauls wanted it, so I wrote a core feature. Now multiple overhaulers can concentrate their time on balance and bling, rather than just trying to get some kind of feature written from scratch.

Glad you said nexus, I didn't want to install another mod loader, I like using vortex mod loader, love it's automatic load order and fix feature plus I can mod several games from it, lol got 4 different games so far guess 7days will be the 5th.
