13:51 Jesus Dan that's an anti-tank mine (Tellermine 35 - T.Mi.35)... Luckily I believe these mines needed over 100kg of pressure to detonate, but who knows how unstable these things are after all these years.
+Aaron A Dan has luck... He could be dead many times... for example the Flak Grenades, they can go off just by shackign them a bit and if they go off your just bits flying around
+Aaron A Its not a TM35 or one oft the other TM's its too small TM35 has 32cm or more diameter. But maybe some kind of Anti Ifantry mine.
+Aaron A Certainly not a tellermine,
+iamurdad77 Yeah you're right, but definitely a mine.
+Aaron A no, its not a mine, a mine isnt so heavy, i was in the swiss-army demolitionexpert and i can tell you, even an old mine wouldnt be so heavy and a mine wouldnt be just one piece and its in to good condition, for a thin metalsheetmine... normaly they had two rings on the top and not only one "trigger" so it can be more camoflaged...
14:00 DUDE THAT IS A LANDMINE! I was CRINGING watching you flail it around...
Your not going to believe this, but I'm in New York City, laying in bed and was watching the Simpsons. I shut it off to watch your video only to have you say " This is better than watching the Simpsons" Dude, are you psychic ?
+Deep Digger Dan Do you ever find any unexploded ordinance? I don't mean pistol, rifle, or machine gun ammunition.
+Ragemutt like incendiary bombs? if so yeah he does ,grenades even
it is a bom
Dan, I started watching ur channel back in early April this year whilst recovering from a knee op and been watching ever since! quality...ur the man dan!
+Deep Digger Dan I'm new and I'm already a big fan god luck in the future!
hi
I talked with an Afrikakorp soldier, he said the gas mask canisters were the only thing airtight in the desert, thus many kept there personal items in them. So, check each one good Dan.
You've got me hooked Dan. Quite entertaining if not educational. Come on get in. Keep it up.
ok Dan the wire diagram at 8:31 is for a microphone #1 on the diagram is the name for the entire speaker assembly (the thing with the green cross) #2 describes the coil of wire inside the speaker including the magnet, #3 is a variable potentiometer to adjust the sound level, # 4 indicates this #5 Is a push button #6 may be a symbol for flash light or torch battery, #7 means that it could be hooked to a automotive battery, the symbol next to the 5000 is ohms in electrical engineering ohms is a measure of resistance in a circuit or device ...Ben from michigan
LOL, I love how the happy country music plays while swastikas appear on the screen and he walks calmly lol
7:00 its a used nebelwerfer cartridge used for throwing large smokescreens for retreat or in combat.
Didn't know they were that large
I was thinking about one of the large soviet siege guns they used towards the end of the war
Congrats on 200k Dan
I have been watching you (Deep Digger Dan) since I had a back surgery in January of 2014 and I got my wife watching with me, you have been way too much fun. Thanks Dan!!. Aaron and Kendra from St.Paul, MN
Mike "Could be anything."
Dan "Could be anything... it's not a toaster Mike!"
That cracked me up! XD
+Deep Digger Dan yep..
Great video Dan.. looked like you were having fun :-) all the best DD
I googled Gufero.. I haven't read all 300 comments.. so not sure if anyone else did. Here is what it came up with
GUFERO | V-belts, oil seals, o-rings etc
+Happy Canadian Mom Yep, probably a shaft seal or something like. Gufero founded in 1989 so not WW2 unfortunately.
Thanks for the updates from both of you :)
Brilliant Video Dan. Danke.
You had a good time in the nature with nice weather and a good buddy.
In minute 17:12. It is part of a shaft seal. 32/45/7 means the dimension.
Congratulations on 200,000 subscribers Dan!
I have been watching your videos for about a year now. I can't get enough of this guy! I absolutely love your videos Dan! It puts a smile on my face every time I watch your videos or just see you. I love your accent btw ;) Keep up the good work!
EDIT: I really want to begin metal detecting, but I'm trying to find a good metal detector that isn't really too expensive, since I am probably JUST starting out. See, you've motivated people to do things too :D
+Deep Digger Dan I like your videos
you just said that to be mentioned in the video
MachoPiggies Well I didn't, but I guess it wouldn't be bad if I am mentioned in one of his videos lol :P
+TheGrayWolf81 lel {Laugh Even Louder}
Ok then...
Great video, Dan, thanks! In my part of the U.S.-- the midatlantic states-- we'd typically call that an "open-end wrench," though a few might call it a "spanner wrench."
Thank you Dan for the entertaining videos, Please bring back some Deep Fried Dan. I stumbled on your videos a few months ago, and I enjoy them all.
16:20 in the canister you have: extra eye lenses, the bottom to the filter, the breather of the mask, what was left of the filter and or the mask itself, and the buckles to the straps
better than watching The Simpsons deep digger Dan you're the man
17.22 is a oil seal The numbers are the Dimensions like ID . OD and thicknessGreetings from WW2HH
+WW2HistoryHunter Yeah saw that... some kind of transmission seal or something to do with an engine.. so someone probably did some repairs in the field..
+WW2HistoryHunter its a hub seal
+WW2HistoryHunter for wheel bearings
Two legends should do an epic week Berlin tour.
+WW2HistoryHunter That would be lovely!
Yay, finally a new video Dan! I have missed you and your awesome humor! sometimes I laugh so hard I pee a little!
I wished I lived in Europe go relic hunting all the time
This close to Berlin, "The Rifle" might have been captured by Soviets. Hell, it could be the one sitting in my gun safe, refurbished with Yugoslavian Communist Party markings.
Hi Dan,
I've seen that you've used the youtube image stabalisation for this video, and I wouldn't recommend it because it makes the video look weird. But that's just my thought. Nice video by the way
Greetings, Martin
I was finding a lot of the little circular discs at the site i was digging near my in laws in poland,The area was used as an ss training camp.
My father taught me 2 things in life. I will teach my son the same when he's old enough:
1. Never moan about something you're not willing to attempt to change for the better!
2. Never trust a Dutchman!
You're father was a funny man. Bless him. ;-)
+cottlad
it seems that stupidity still is hereditary
Dan, i love your videos so much you are clearly the best metal detectorist on RUclips and one of the greatest RUclipsrs in my opinion Dan! Keep It Up!
+Deep Digger Dan No problem Dan!
"oh im just sitting here drinking my jug of beer"
I think the musket ball with the nub on the end is one from a musket that needed to be unloaded. I think I heard about that. Since you couldn't break those muskets open in the middle you had to somehow get the ball back out to unload it, so they had to screw something into the ball while it's still in the barrel and then pull it out.
Bring an increment borer so you can drill the trees at the edge of things and tell how old they are. In this case, trees younger than WWII would have grown in later. That would certainly help define the historical edge of the field.
The gufero ring at 17:10 is apart of a modern day ball barring. Sweet videos though!
The bright idea joke made Me laugh really hard... It shouldn't have... But it did... Lmao
The thing you found at 7:03 is a German mine attached to a pole that they would stick in the ground so they cant see the pole.
that small case in the gasmask canister is for spear lenses for the mask
Hi ,at 17.00 you found an oil ring and the numbers are the size in millimeters.they're used in mechanical use to seal engines ,gearboxes etc...All the best from France !
14:20 dan.. that's an anti tank mine!
8:30
it is the instructions of a Nazi-German 'Fernsprecher' (old word for Telephone) or maybe its from a radio station. The other thing u found next to it was a microphone or the sound box. I'm pretty sure that there was a commanding station or radio station. Sorry about language or gammaticall mistakes (I am from germany)
by the way, Deep digger dan thumbs up, good videos!
The thing you found was a mangled artillery shell.
The gas mask part you didn't know was the end of the filter.
The Gufero thing was an o-ring, possibly off of a Land Rover.
6:17 it's part from small 4t motorcycle engine
I like that you never give up
I call it an open end wrench. And if it has one opened end and one closed end I call it a combination wrench. Can I call your musket ball a Mushroom Musket Ball??? I know that's not what it is called but just having a bit of fun. Maybe a Tear Gas Grenade? I'm still watching and pausing and making comments. LOL 16:50 Spoon Bowl.
and deep digger Dan has smashed it once again, well done pal, wish I could find things like this
+Deep Digger Dan oh my god you replied!! can't wait for the next video
17:10 is not a part of a gas mask, its a sealing. 32-45-7 is the size in mm.
So th outside is 45mm inside 32mm and the thickness is 7mm
There is a very real possibility that those canisters were crapped in by soldiers and then buried :p Get in!
i love putting on your videos and just listening while doing something else at home! :D
can you please consider upgrading the camera at some point if you have some extra money!
Thanks Dan!
In my opinion your the best mettle dictectir on RUclips keep the good work up Dan
DDD That musket ball you found near the beginning of the video with the "blip". That blip is called a sprew and is formed when the person was pouring the melted lead into his bullet mould. The mould looked kind of like a set of pliers, and popped open after you poured the lead in so you can get the ball out. Most of the hand molds had a cutter to cut off the sprew. The person probably lost it soon after he poured the ball and didn't have time to cut the sprew off. So that's where the saying comes from to sprew off. Okay that last bits not true, but the rest is.
some people call large wrenchs BESSY, all cows in the USA are called BESSY, LOL
that Mic-Thing says:
1 Fernhörerkapsel (telephone capsule) - probably that round thing you got there too
2 Mikrofonkapsel (microphone capsule)
3 Potentiometer
4 Fernhörer (earphone/receiver)
5 was not readable.
I guess that could be a maintenance-box for the Feldfernsprecher with some spare parts
Dan is awesome, I always have a good time watching these videos!
Love your vids man, keep it up!
the big pancake thing is more like a mine
8:12
I think that might be a radio of some sort. Possibly from a tank if it fits the the hole in the plate.
that black ring at 17:10 could it be the lens ring off a pair of Binoculars?
That's got to be a mine you thought was a big shell
once again, Dan the man. love the videos. pleas keep them coming..
dan that wasnt a tank shell or a plane bomb that was an unstable AP mine you are very very lucky
At 14:20 the end of the shell you had in your hand was making the earth all around your hand all warped and distorted. Must be radio active?
@15:55 its the filter capsule of the gasmask (the remains).
That "buckle" looks like a sling mount for a gun... and when i searched gefero it came up with seals... like for pipes.
good to see you out again
One of my fave you tubers!
I think that the thing you found 7 mins in was an artillery shell. it had been blown apart from the inside.
Wow that looked like a mine?!?
Is there a version of your intromusic that isnt cut? Would love to hear the whole version.
That's not bad at all, those gasmaskcanisters will make my day!
Dan you really have to be more careful! That's an anti-tank mine that requires 100kg of force to set off... You're so lucky you escaped with you life I was cringing when you flipped it over and threw it 😱
His sense of humor Hahahahaha Im laughing so much 😂😂
excellent video Dan.
the extension on the musket ball I believe is used to tie a powder bag onto the ball.
Gufero is an oil seal for a bearing that probably is for a shaft of some kind. The company made oil seals.
the thing you found at 7:00 was a plane missle used in the cold war
Thank you for posting your adventures pretty cool I enjoy watching . Since you're in Germany find out what the formation for ground troops was back, or maybe a unit supporting a tank ,if you find a trail where you believe a tank has gone through and you can more or less figure out where the men were hiking or walking through this will give you a better idea on where to look ,,, you might get lucky. & thanks for sharing.
very nice vid Dan with some great finds
14:08 Dude that is a land mine, looks like a anti-vehicle/tank landmine..... these things can still detonate I've heard cases where they did detonate under farmers tractors etc. Lucky this one seems to be so corroded and oxidised that the trigger is probably long deteriorated etc.... but still its dangerous to touch them. Remember ships encountering old sea mines where they get blown up....
great hunt and video Dan, best of luck on your next :-) & HH Tina
hey Dan in America a spanner wrench is usually a thin wrench used on bicycles or tight to fit places
Here in the states your spanner would indeed be called a wrench. That one specifically would be known as an open ended wrench.
That gufero thing, after a quick google search, Gufero is a company making stuff like oil seals and O-rings, so i think you found an o-ring. The term has an article on the Slovak Wikipedia, which translates to "Radial Shaft Seal".
+Deep Digger Dan 14:22 LAND MINE!!!! be careful Dan
+Deep Digger Dan 14:00 it really dose look like a WWII German anti-tank mine! great videos Dan
Wrench -spanner, hood - bonnet, boot - trunk, drive left - drive right. We all know what it means Dan. I'd love to be over there for a bit. Eric
Sorry Dan its not an eye piece off a gas mask its a seal for a gear box or similar 32mm inner daimeter, 45mm outer, and 7mm wide. If you look on the back (the recessed side there is a spring that keeps tension on the inner lip.
15:54 - that's most likely the bottom end of a gasmasks' airfilter
6:54 I think it's a tube to hold secret messages on messengers backs
that shell from the foxhole looks like a discarded tank or field gun ammunition casing.
I agree
If thats so then why does it have the thing on the end because the primer dosnt stick out like that
what is bothering me is the fact it is split, maybe damaged from a hit on an ammo store?
Evan Nieters You are right, the primer cap does not look usual, i was thinking some sort of smoke, mortar or rocket ammunition?
+FozzieBearuk It looks very much like iron, so wouldn't be a shell made of brass or something?
Could it perhaps not be a shell but the lower part of the barrel of some anti tank cannon?
It could also explain the being split
FYI, your spanner in America the correct term would be a "Double Headed, Open Ended Wrench" since you asked :) .. Does smoke grenade = Flare?
Thanks for the share HH&GL
Jeff
They kept spare lenses in that compartment on the gas mask canister not personal possessions although some did keep medals in them. Also they did have bags and butt packs
excellent dan and friends .. cheers
5:10 those trees are less than 30 years old, probably less than 20 years old.
The piece with the green X on looks like one side of a radio's headset ☺
That's what I was thinking too
Do you keep everything you found?
Miss the old Deep Digger Dan videos LOL. But like new video also ,going back to review digger dan.
Soldiers definitely pooped in those canisters
Are you using stabilizer? footage seems little floaty.
+CinmarRS looks like the youtube image stabilizer (or from a video editing software) yeah, especially in macro mode it looks like it's filmed under water, haha :)
In southern US that is a double ended wrench. We also refer to dumb people as lug nuts and crazy people as wing nuts, cheers!
6:00 looks like a parachute buckle and after that is a cannister for a gas mask maybe??
That Gufero 32-45-7, is a oil seal and its a old one cause that ding in one side is from it being pulled out.
17:22 it's a dust seal or oil seal from a bearing
at 8:00 its a microphone from the whermacht becouse one with yellow cross is from the kriegsmarine
