Honor has the most amazing eyes, she is such a beautiful person! Julia, postpartum lasts so long in some women, it's crazy. Enjoy your no period freedom girly, haha, you probably forgot how not fun this time of the month is 😛. I really feel you on being closer to family. LA and most metropolitans seem to be going through trouble right now, it's very heartbreaking. I will say that for us, it's still a constant back and forth whether to move closer to family or not. But ours is North Michigan, very big change from Cali 🥶. Decide before she goes to school so she gets a stable school experience but know that this urge might only strengthen as she grows. I wish we could visit our cousins and aunts weekly bit it's extremely expensive and long. So we do it once a year and while there, we literally want nothing but to stay there 😢 I feel you! Big hugs! 🤗

This was so refreshing and real to watch. I've been living in LA for about 8 years and it's really starting to wear me down - you're right, its not normal! The prices, the intense interactions you'll have on a daily basis, the traffic, the car accidents every 100 feet. It's a strange place, but it does well in terms of building your career. I can see where your feelings are coming from. My family is also on the east coast and I miss them more each day - especially with my parents getting older, and I feel like I'm missing valuable time with them. Wishing you the best, thank you for being so honest, I feel less alone.

The prices and traffic are killers for me lol. But I feel that's just the price I pay for living in a place that has nearly everything. I've tried a few states and always felt like I was sacrificing major components. So I've been here for 7 years so far.

Having a child can really change your perspective on so many things,at least for my husband and I. It was hard because we kept second guessing ourselves but in the end we realized we had to just trust our gut and go with it. It seems you have very supportive family (on both coasts😊) so I have no doubt you will figure it out!

As a child who grew up in Hollywood (the area, not the industry) I really appreciate my distinctly LA childhood. I had so much to do as a kid and a teen, and I have a core group of friends from birth to this day. I think the city/place your grow up in doesn’t matter as much as your community. So where you find that for your child is best! Granted, I lived in NYC for a decade and just moved back to LA to be close to help out my family. It’s a double edged sword for real. Hopefully you find balance and the right decision will make itself known in time.

I can imagine, I've been here for 7 years and you can do literally anything and everything here. The worst part has obviously been the cost, but compared to the states I lived it feels so weird to be in a place where it feels like there's always something to do and always opportunities.

After I had a baby I had this deep eternal need to be with and by my family...especially my Mom. It's very hard to raise a child in any metro type city.
I'm doing really good, my "baby" is 17 and it's such a cool age, he's a grown young man with thoughts and ideas and goals and... It's so cool to see the fruits of our labor and the many sacrifices really taking root in him. My oldest is 21 and about to graduate college with honors and is on his way home for summer next week. I'm so proud of both of them. Our buisness is continuing to grow and thrive eve in a tough market and I'm very grateful for the ability to work from home to continue to be a full time present Mom. Sending your whole family lots of love.

The first year my son was born I was back & forth between Virginia and Utah. I’m originally from LA but my parents retired in UT. It definitely put a strain on my relationship but I needed so much help with my baby that my husband couldn’t give because of work. When my son turned 1, i permanently moved in with parents to go back to school and my husband and I have been long distance since January. We started therapy to help with communication and not being able to physically show affection and it definitely has helped. There’s a means to an end fortunately because he will be moving out here in august when his military contract is up.
I hope everything works out for you!

wow the parallels between our two lives right now are...massive~~~i live in Cali full time with my husband and our two year old daughter Madonna, but i'm also originally from the east coast. me and my baby have been staying with my parents for the past 2+ weeks, and it's for sure exhausting flying/existing day to day without your partner...at the same time, being on the east coast is both so soothing and energizing. my husband owns a restaurant in Ojai so we have to be there for now, but I truly thrive being back east. we also did long distance for years so its comforting to witness someone else going through such a similar journey. sending love to you, and congrats on Honor she's precious

I breastfed (still am for daughter 16 months) both my children and got my period back after 2 months with 1st child and 4 months with 2nd child. You guys might want to consider being closer to your family. LA is not a stable environment at all to be in, especially for small children, and I'm sure that you both could figure something out with jobs and income. NO one is fixed in 1 place for the rest of their lives and if Nick needed to move I am sure that it would work out. Children force us to re-examine our lives and they also force us to change, most of the time for the better!!!!! Do not be afraid of change and the unknown, everything always works out. Stay strong in your faith and count your blessings everyday. Best of luck to you and raising the baby, I know what you are going through doing a lot on your own!

Our daughter is 2.5 and all the same feelings have come up, it was just so hard for us to pull the trigger, now that we have I’m wondering what took us so long. I had my daughter in march 2021 and my period came back in December 2021. I stopped breastfeeding in January this year, a couple months before her 2nd birthday. Unfortunately my acne has gotten worse since weaning so I’m definitely going through it right now too. I’m planning on seeing a naturopathic doctor to help balance my hormones. Dear Julia, l’ve got a baby girl two weeks older then Honor , and I’ve also started to break out when we introduced solids (breastfeeding saved) . It is definitely connected with the hormone shifts because throughout the pregnancy and until now my skin was the best. He wants to move back there but I want to be close to mine. Constant dilemma. Not sure if we’ll resolve it anytime soon, the longer we stay put, the more our child gets assimilated with school, friends, sports, church, etc and we won’t be able to relocate. Also suffered with postpartum depression heavily after each birth (3 kids) and it took 4 months for me to feel like myself again and a full year for my body to recover. It’s such a crazy, emotional ride which didn’t feel super great some days, or (if I’m being honest) like I wanted to do it at all. It all gets better with time though and having support is crucial. I've always breastfed all of my babies on demand but with my two boys it's was 12 months PP, and with my girl it was 6 months PP lol currently pregnant with number 4 so who knows but I'm hoping for about a year. Enjoy the break!

Whew! That's tough, hun! I know the feeling. Somehow I feel like a visitor where I'm from and at home in Florida, but family is family and it's hard to be far apart. I moved home for them and I'm struggling in a way I didn't expect. So....opposite of you but in the same vein. I'll pray for you ❤

I breastfed all 3 of my kids and my periods returned at 6 months, 8 months and my son just turned 2 and my period just came back this time. Also, I recently moved from NC to VA for my husband's work and left my family behind in NC. It's been really hard. Having family nearby makes all the difference when raising babies.

I lived in California for 6 years and it never felt like home to me either. The cost of living was just too high. When my mother passed in 2011 I inherited her house in Florida but Florida was just too hot and muggy. The house needed more work than I'd ever be able to afford so I sold it and moved to Tennessee with my sister and her husband.
I met Jim the year before moving when we were looking for potential properties here.
Lived with sister and her husband for a year then Jim and I found the place we're in now.
We love it here. Though most of my family is in Michigan I didn't want to move back to a Heavy snow state. Some of my family come to visit , others I keep in touch by phone and Facebook and text.
I know it's hard being away from family and from Nick but, you will find a balance . I just know that things will work out for you all.
California is not the be all to end all for music. Being from outside Detroit I know that's a fact and Nashville's music scene is out there as well. Just saying that Nick has options if he wants to leave the California scene.
Honor is such a beautiful baby . I'm having hair loss issues too but I'm 66 and have been on thyroid meds for a few years. Doctor appointment in a couple months to discuss possible causes, she said it might be hormonal or possibly a vitamin deficiency. So I'm sure there'll be some testing involved.
Enjoy every moment you have with your parents, memories live forever. ❤

I can see how deeply you've reflected on the situation and how conflicting it is for various reasons, wishing you clarity and as much ease as possible considering the situation ♥️

Im in central OK.. From SW Lousiana where theres beautiful trees and my parents live on rural land. My kids dad moved to Phoenix, AZ for work (to make a ton of money)...he expects me to move and quit my job at a tree nursery (which i really enjoy) in order for him to see his 2 lil girls. I dont want to live in am arid desert climate with hardly any trees not to mention our relationship is super shakey. I've been with him for 10yrs. Im 7hrs from my parents and brother. So yeah- i feel your dilemma.

Something about kids being in the picture just makes you miss family. I moved to the opposite corner of the country away from my family 2 years ago and was so ready for a new start but now that I’m pregnant I have been so home sick.. it’s wild.
