Hi mark. Is there a ssw event happening now ? If there is it may possibly extend the cold spell right through into march. The polar vortex looks as if it is going to split with one lobe going into north America and the other dropping down into europe. This will increase the longevity and severity of the cold weather that has now set in.
I don`t want cold weather as people cannot afford their heating bills and the homeless. Don`t understand why people want colder weather.

I could say the same about people who like mild weather.
@ At least with mild weather you save on heating costs. People always push for cold and BFTE knowing that energy bills are high and hits the vulnerable hardest.
I agree because of the increased suffering that the cold causes the homeless and also animals and birds who sleep outdoors.
Also the the increased heating bills and lack of heat for thousands of people here in Ireland who are still without electricity and have only useless electric air pump heating.
Finally for myself because I hate the bitter East wind and the slippery icy conditions which we are at risk of.
Most of us can't afford increased heating bills and the isolation of being snowed in is depressing and could stop people getting to hospital if they need to go.
@ Animals and birds are part of nature and know how survive the cold temperatures, as for the homeless they must go to shelters provided for them or maybe you could take some in personally? Your point about energy is valid but its not the weather fault your bills are high maybe look at your governments energy polices and you electric company being greedy.
