    Nice one,
    I love that route down StMarys loch from Moffat too.
    Did that route a few times earlier in the year and was caught out by the re-surfacing work.
    Copious amounts of loose chippings at the time, lasting several weeks until the cars and bikes
    sett them in to the tarmac enough to allow for reasonable riding speeds.
    Why they don't roll the stones in is beyond me in this 'Health and Safety' society in which we now
    live.
    Perhaps they use them as a traffic calming device?
    They certainly work in that respect, as apart from not wanting to be flung down the road on a bed of marbles,
    nobody wants their paintwork stone chipped.
    Sorry for the rant.
    Your video cheered me up no end and I'm gonna pull the bike out today.

    • @Banditmanuk
      @Banditmanuk 4 года назад

      Thanks Alan, think loose chippings are my number one hate and are a total nightmare for motorcyclists. Travelling as Carol and I do, the front of my bike including the fork uppers are peppered with stone chips, I've also damaged several Shoei visors and chipped helmet paint.
      Glad you enjoyed the vid, hope the weather stays good for you today. Ride safe. Cheers. Richard

      Hi Jay, thanks for checking out my channel. I think the roads of NW Scotland are beautiful. Certainly less busy with traffic than England. Southern England although lovely in many areas just gets very congested with traffic especially compared to rural France or Spain. If you do head to Scotland just be prepared, it rains allot at any time of the year.

    The crashed white van at the bottom of the Devil's Beeftub has been there since 2002. A 25yr old woman came off the road late at night, amazingly, she only broke her arm with a few cuts & bruises. She then climbed all the way back up to the road to flag down a passing car.
    The authorities and locals decided to leave the van at the bottom bcos it was too expensive/difficult to recover the wreck.

    • @Banditmanuk
      @Banditmanuk 4 года назад +1

      It is amazing she got away lightly, that van is along way down from the road. I did do a bit of investigation before I uploaded the vid and left a note in the description. Guess its becoming a local land mark but I wonder how many people new to the area report it as a crash??

    Hello both, I’ve just found a video of yours on ‘youtube’ after doing some investigating into using Garmin Basecamp, as I’m contemplating getting a BMW Nav 6. You seemed to be quite proficient in setting up a route to transfer to your Garmin and navigating via it, so can I ask you, if you were to go off the route your were following, for whatever reason, and knowingly miss one of the waypoints, does your Garmin have the brains to be able to re-route you back onto the route, or does it keep trying to send you back to the waypoint you intentionally missed, even though you don’t want to go back?
    Hope I’ve made myself clear 😊
    Really enjoying the video, beautiful scenery 👍

    • @Banditmanuk
      @Banditmanuk 4 года назад

      Hi Stags, thanks for watching the vid 👍👍 Out the two of us Carol is more of the Basecamp expert and she can make and upload the routes just fine. Our Garmin 660 is probably considered old tech now but still works for us and I believe is still similar to the unit BMW use.
      Now I believe you should be able to go into the unit and tell it to disregard the last point but we simply end the route, re-enter it and when it asks if we want to navigate to the start we say no and it generally takes us to the next way point on the route.
      It's not ideal though and depends how many way points are in when the route was planned.
      Now I mention Simon Weir in this vid, he has his own website with a wealth of knowledge on planning and using Garmins (he also will plan custom routes for a fee) he's the guy to chat to.
      Sorry I cannot be of more help, sometimes we still find both Bascamp and the Garmin unit frustrating to use.
      Cheers and best wishes Richard and Carol
