I really appreciate that they didn't just completely change Lars' personality after he turned Pink. Seeing that jealous, petty side of him again in "Lars of the Stars" just feels right. Yes, I can understand why people would want him to just be perfect and super cool but that's just not who Lars is. Now, getting mad that Sadie's getting to hang out with the Cool Kids without him, that sounds like Lars.

So many more questions... Probably easy answers, but still. Half of them are probably going to take you to some weird rule 34 pages.

Your backdoor pilot theory isn't far off. Season 5 was supposed to be about Lars, Stevonnie, and the Off Colours with Season 6 being the final season, but when the show was cancelled, they did some open heart surgery, hence why the Lars plotline ends at episode 16 out of 32 (if you count the 44 minute finale as four 11 minute episodes and the 24 minute Reunited as two).
Kind of weird since the crew got notified of the cancellation in season 2. You’d think they’d be able to just not leave threads this late into the show dangling because, well, you’d think they wouldn’t have created the episode yet.

They didn't want to scrap any of the characters' arcs, so they shortened the arcs they thought didn't need as much focus, which had infamous results, but I think they did a very good job nonetheless and the movie and future were exceptional at fixing the few issues the series' original ending had.
@@1sdani Not really. Most of Future and the movie was putting the blame on a literal corpse and timeskipping over the diamonds “reformation” because it would be very much unbearable. Although I’m in the mind that they should’ve just made the diamonds into main characters. Not out of genuine storytelling but just to remind everyone that this was a choice that was made.

Not even in Volleyball is White truly seen as horrific compared to Pink. 4) Every other one of their victims still alive is perceptively quiet. 5) The writers shot themselves in the foot by making shattering out to be an easy fix in fusion and have Yellow the means of healing… frankly, it’s giving me Misery vibes.
Literally my favorite react series so far. I love Steven Universe, and seeing Kor and Jack react to a series that they actually like and enjoy, and just make so much funnier is just the best. I love it.

When I saw Jungle planet (very late) I immediately took it as 100% confirmation of Rose-Pink. But practically everyone, from massive channels, to comment trolls, was flaming anyone who suggested that, *so hard,* as if they'd threated to eat their babies. I honestly wonder if how vehemently the fandom attacked anyone who supported the theory influenced the writers. I mean seriously, the _accepted_ explanation was "one-off-intergalactic-necro-pathy" -_- , that was "reasonable". Prior to that episode, there was little evidence, yet practically every plot hole and mystery would have been neatly explained by Rose being Pink, yet the fandom completely loathed the idea.
Lars became a larper to cope with the fact that he's going to outlive his family and human friends. They'll all grow old and die and he'll still be a pink portal boy.
Fr. And I feel like had they just cut that arc out, we probably could’ve couldn’t some more exposition or lore-based episodes out of the season. Or maybe a couple extra episodes to extend the whole arc on homeworld.

Yeah part of the reason why season 5 made me hate Connie for a bit was because she AND lion just abandoned Steven at the worst possible time. Yeah, okay. He left without warning, but he was SAVING YOUR ASS. Connie’s response was to be butt hurt and contribute to even more of Steven’s abandonment issues in Steven universe future. THANKFULLY the show made Connie more likable again over time but still… ugh.

That last episode is so well drawn it's insane, the characters look really good in a lot of the scenes, specially Lapis.
