I've thought once or twice about taking my XJR on a track day, but I'm not a speed freak in the slightest. After watching you bin it on the left hander that's just reinforced my decision not to do one. I couldn't bear the thought of dropping mine. Having said that, Id like to do an instructed track session, but not just where im left to my own devices.
Great vid- love the intro!!! The peg scraping was making me jumpy! First time it happened to me I pretty much pooped. Must've been a good workout hustling the bike through the bends. I bet you love the torque of that engine even more having only had one gear to get home, good job!!!!
Hi Seb, it took a long time to make the intro considering how short it is but it well was worth it because most people like it.😊 Hill starts in 3rd gear are no problem for the XJR, torque monster! 💪 The most tiring thing about riding the bike on track was how expposed it was in the wind. The bars are pretty high and even with my chin practically on the tank I was still getting blasted!
Found you from Hippo-Drones 👍 road tires don't always hold up well to the rigors of track, might have contributed somewhat. Glad it was just a slide and not worse. Great recap of your day 😃
The "Production Value" of this video is fantastic - very well done! Track day looked like a lot of fun - despite the crash. I was expecting the damage to be much worse. I'm glad you walked away uninjured and were able to limp the bike home.
Thanks, I'm glad you think so, I changed software for this video and it's been a steep learning curve with lots more still to learn! I really did get away lightly with the crash, not even a bruise to speak of !😀
I’ve been doing everything in iMovie - it gets the job done but it is pretty basic. Upgrading software has been on my to-do list but I didn’t want the monthly subscription for Premier or the big upfront cost of Final Cut Pro. I’ll have to check out Davinci Resolve - the price of free is pretty appealing! Thanks
All I can say is give it a go if you want to try something else. It's a pretty steep learning curve compared to what I was using before but There's loads of tutorials for it on YT. Good luck 🙂

@@krustyboots2586 ah very nice. I might give that a try myself and throw the credit your way of course 🙂 Having a b roll makes editing 10x easier as the cuts can be hidden by switching angle, sneaky stuff indeed. Thanks for the replies btw 😁
Ahhh duuuudeeeeee Noooooooooooooo, gutted for you. How far did you have to limp it home? really glad you were not busted up. Bike will battle another day!
It was about an hour back cross country avoiding the faster roads. The XJR is a bit of a torque monster so no problem pulling away in 3rd but I did suffer from knee cramp riding with my foot on the rear pili' peg! :) The bike will be back on the road just as soon as the new footrest hanger turns up!
@@krustyboots2586 Hahaaha... wowo an hour... damn that must have been horrid lol (soz shouldn't laugh) :D A modern bike would have probs been un-rideable so it is kinda lucky you were on this one! :-)
I've been keen for this installment! I'm interested in what made you fail that corner - the lean angle looks less severe than at other points on the track to me. Do you know what you did wrong?
I honestly don't know exactly what it was but I'm 100% sure it was rider error! 😅 I was getting the sensation that there wasn't a lot of grip from the tyres towards the end of each session so perhaps my tyre pressures were a bit too high? 🤔
I've got the AGV K3-SV which I think is essentially the same shell but with a sun visor built in. It's a lot better than my old helmet. It's got a half decent seal around the neck and a chin flap. The shell is shaped pretty well with regards to noise and at speed the helmet feels weightless due to the aero. Its still a budget lid though, I wear earplugs if I'm riding outside the city (over 40mph). AGV's have a slightly different fit than other helmets though so it might not work with your head, for me its the most comfortable fit out of all the lids I've tried. Only thing to do is to try it on and see. I would note that my cheek pads compressed over time so its not as snug as it used to be. The K5 is similar but its fiberglass construction rather than pollycarb so that's the one I'll probably go for next time. Hope that helps :)
Tell me you removed that centre stand before your track day. No I see you didn't. Anyway glad your ok and the bike's not too bad. Don't worry you'll learn from it.
The next video will probably be about damage repair once the new parts arrive.

It was good fun! With hindsight training and a lighter bike on better tyres would have been great! Maybe next time! 🤔

Gutted for you mate, but at least you're still in good spirits and want to go back. Next time I'm there I'll keep a look out for you.

It was great fun despite coming off! They weren't the most grippy of road tyres either. 😂

What software are you using now?
Davinci resolve, it's free and my laptop will just about run with 1440p @ 30fps footage. 🙂

Came over on Hippo Dro especially recommendation, subbed. Great video...sorry about the slide, glad your both OK:)
Nice one Lane 👍
Glad you liked the video and thanks for the sub. 😊
Looks like you had a blast!
It was great, can't wait to do another one!
Bad luck but at least you could get home.
Now you know what to do for the next video ;)
Yeah, I'm counting myself lucky, I got away with that one. There was a guy on a blue GSXR who just missed me while I was sliding across the tarmac! :O
Despite the crash, looked like fun. Would you do it again? Thanks for sharing this! Stay well
I would do it again in a heartbeat! You can't ride for sport like this on the public roads, its a very liberating activity. 😁
Come here from Hippo-Drones 🦛
Great video despite the, ahem. Minor slide...
What camera do you use? The angle is brill!
I use a Gitup Git2. It works well for me, most importantly it was very cheap! :)
Thanks to Hippo-Drones for the recomendation! :)
@@krustyboots2586 holy crap that's the Git2? I have two of them 😂
What settings do you run it at? 👀

How do you rate the AGV K1 for noise levels? I'm thinking of getting one cos my Caberg Stunt is too damn loud.

Hope you like it, only way to find out is to try it. The helmet is a very personal area... 😜
