Although an abnormal WBC count is often the first thing detected by your doctor, an AML diagnosis is made with further workup. Criteria is a blast cell count of 20% or more, or sometimes if specific genetic mutations are found to be present in your cells. Low white blood count is good ,it protects you against certain types of cancer ,mine are law as well.
