My grandmother was apart of the greatest generation and as her youngest grandchild now 30 years old her values and ethics have impacted my life in ways unimaginable her stories were grander than life. She passed at 90 but her life impacted generations. I'm blessed to have had her
That generation, the "Greatest Generation," sacrificed their lives to win the wars for our neighbors and allies. In America, we took on an enormous toll to fight the fight. At the time, America helped Europe, and then had to fight the travesty in Pearl Harbor. Just a trial for American endurance. God bless our American military. I have to read Brokaw's book, on my list.
Also, we only had the 17th most powerful army in the overwhelming world so we were not the superpower we are today. We didn’t have the unlimited budget or the ability to take on endless government debt. People at that time had savings and that’s what paid for the war.
That is very true the Greatest Generation did push through the Civil Rights Act. I always thought of their faults being their slowness to racial equality, but also that the justified war fever after WW2 brought us to unjustified wars like Korea and Vietnam. But that wasn’t even their generation, either. It was Eisenhower and Richard Nixon who were not part of that generation.
The "Greatest Generation" saved us from Communism. The "Boomers" are not the worst. The youngins today are the "Worst Generation." I am a "Gen Xer" and I am thankful daily for the love, sacrifices and lessons that the "Greatest Generation" gave us.

My father was one of the greatest generation. He will have my undying respect until the day I die and after.

Can we really call them the greatest generation when they spawned the worst generation.
