Nice to see a second opinion on this topic 😉👍 And cool to see your background on tech.

I'm sure Steve Jobs is rolling over in his grave! From the grave, Steve Jobs starts killing your battery when your phone is older than the newest generation iPhone!

Let's be realistic if this is for the average joe then a charge-port replacement is extremely tedious and would not be recommended for the average consumer. To be quite frank they don't ever have to offer any older models than the ones they chose to offer. Schematics is their intellectual property and if any of us were running a multi-billion dollar outfit such as theirs we won't offer it either.
    Good video btw.

Thank you. I appreciate it. Charging ports are a little advanced and the average person probably doesn't want to do that repair. I liken it to a transmission in a ford vehicle. Replacing one is a more complicated repair that most people will not do, but Ford will sell me a transmission. As far as schematics, having them could help people keep there devices longer. Going back to the automobile industry, car manufacturers might not give mechanics and third party retailers all of there proprietary information. I've not heard of many examples of them actively blocking people from information that can be used to repair vehicles. Haynes repair manuals and alldata have huge businesses all centered around repair information. They are a multinational company and they dont have to do anything. I have always been a proponent of the free exchange of information.

Jessa Jones has had her daughter replace a charge port and they are toddlers.
Phones with soldered in charge ports I could see being advanced. When they are plugged in via an FPC connector and a flex cable, it's like legos at that point!

@@rossmanngroup When I had my shop, my ex-wife who didn't know the first thing about tech was cranking iPhone charge port replacements out with no issue with minimal training. I agree 100%.
