Irina, as a former kickboxer, I'll take Rocky's tough outside training method over Drago's comfy inside gym--Outside cold air gives you extra wind. Running on rough , uneven snow-covered terrain beats any treadmill or skip rope. Dragging the sled (Power core and legs) , chopping wood outside, (Gives u an excellent overhand right) By the way, since 1981 40 boxers have died from injuries sustained in the ring.

When you said that Apollo fell like he was already dead, it was because he was actually unconscious! Before the filming for that scene, Carl Weathers told Dolf Lundgren not to hold back, to 'sell the scene' to the audience and make it believable. So Dolf was *actually* punching him, and _knocked him out cold!_ So he went down for real. When you see him laying there twitching, he was going in and out of consciousness, and trying to get up at those moments when he was conscious.
Something similar happened with Stallone during a practice session. Stallone told Lundgren to give him everything! And Lundgren actually _is_ a trained martial artist, and _was_ in the kind of excellent shape that he seemed, in the movie. So when Stallone and he started punching, Lundgren actually 'unloaded on him'! Stallone ended up in the hospital for 3 or 4 days, and they weren't actually sure he'd come back completely! Apparently, he was, at first, briefly in a coma; they had to delay resuming production until Stallone could start doing scenes again.
I think all that might be considered 'taking realism too far'!
P.S. - by the way, I think you have great heart, able to see how people can be! I love that!

To add to that story, I *heard* that Stallone's health insurance company tried to sue him for fraud after he got out of the hospital. See, the punch Lundgren unloaded on Stallone with was to his chest, which shattered his ribs. And the x-rays were thought to be consistent with that of a collision from a vehicle. Which just goes to show how insanely strong Lundgren is- *if* the story is true!

You see! He's not a machine, he's a man!" I also feel bad for Ivan, his coach calling him an idiot for not beating Rocky. It's not that easy to beat a man with an iron will like Rocky has.

Not to mention that Ivan has never had a professional boxing match before, and he is facing the undisputed World Heavyweight Champion. I dont care how strong you are or how great an amateur record you have, if your first fight is against the world champion, you are in deep shit. The fact that a guy with a 0 fight record managed to go 15 rounds with the world champion is nothing short of a miracle, infact its a better achievement than Rocky's against Apollo in the first movie, since Rocky had had many professional fights prior, even if they were low card fights. People fail to realise that at the end of this movie, Drago still hasnt made his professional debut, since his fight with Apollo was an exhibition and his fight with Rocky was unsanctioned. So he still has a 0-0-0 record.

    • @MGower4465
      @MGower4465 Год назад +1

@@Bodanki Not actually. Drago may not have had pro bouts, but he was 100-0-0 and an Olympic champion, he knows how to box. Rocky's lifetime record is 57-23-1, and he is a brawler wearing gloves. Nearly all of those 81 fighrs were "professional" only because he got paid a pittance, not because of the quality of the fights. Apollo cleaned Rocky's clock in both bouts. Rocky busting a couple of Apollo's ribs was the only reason Rocky won, Apollo wasn't able to breathe right and was bleeding internally, which combined to weaken Apollo. If that rib shot didn't land, Rocky would never get the strap. Here, Drago hurts Rocky but can't keep him down. Right after the cut, Rocky gets a boost. "He's not a machine, he's a man". At the same moment, Drago refers to Rocky as like a piece of iron. The fight turns not on skill., but on their respective shifts in confidence. Drago is the better boxer, and he's stronger. But he lost heart. He started reacting to Rocky and slugging instead of sticking to his own advantages and using his reach to keep Rocky back.

Rocky is amazing. I watch it every single year. On November I go through the entire series and watch all the movies with my wife. Rocky is not a boxing movie. It's a long running story about a man's life. From start to finish. The ups, downs, losses, victories, falling, and all the twists and turns. From enemies becoming friends to losing family to carrying on with all that life throws at you and learning that each time you think you've hit a stride there is a life hit coming your way. You can't dodge it you can only take the hit and the end of the Rocky story should be his death. The idea that life goes on even when we are gone. We can leave an impact but in the long run life will one day move on without us. I see Creed 3 or 4 being the final piece of the Rocky story and if not then they have missed the point completely.

Ivan Drago actor, Dolph Lundgren is actually Swedish. Despite the stereotypical views he’s got from his roles the guys an actual genius. Has an IQ of 160 and graduated MIT in chemical engineering. He’s also a great martial artist too. A 4th Dan Black Belt in Kyokushin Karate.
Sylvester Stallone had commented that getting hit by Dolph felt like getting hit by a speeding car, “he is the car” and suffered many severe injuries throughout filming. Even Apollo actor Carl Weathers almost called it quits on the 4th movie cause of how hard Dolph hits

Hello, I just want to say first that I think you have wonderful reaction videos and I am very happy to watch them!
Next, I don't know if someone else here in the comments already mentioned this, but when Rocky was training that wasn't really Russia. This movie was made in 1985 when the Cold War was at one of the worst times. Animosity between the USA and the USSR was very high. The Soviet Union would never allow an American movie to come film in Russia, especially a movie like this.
They filmed in Jackson Hole, Wyoming in the Grand Tetons mountain range which is part of the "Rocky" Mountains 😉
In the movie they were supposed to be in Krasnogourbinsk, Siberia.
However, it was only two years later that an American movie *was allowed* to come to Russia to film. By 1987 Gorbachev had become the Premier and had started his progressive doctrine of Glasnost. The Cold War started to thaw at this time.
Ironically, the movie that was allowed to come film in Russia was an Arnold Schwarzenegger movie, who has always had a rivalry with Stallone in regard to their movies. The entire first act of the film takes place in Moscow where Schwarzenegger plays a Soviet police officer. He ends up going to America to chase a criminal and teams up with an American cop. At this time in the 80's a sub-genre of film had become very popular, the "buddy cop movie" where very different types of police officers were paired up into unlikely partnerships. The movie made a lot of news because it was the first movie allowed to come film in Russia in many years. The movie is called Red Heat, in my opinion it is a good movie but not great.
There is another sports movie I highly recommend, this one is about baseball and is based on a true story. Just after the fall of the Soviet Union, a former player and coach of a Major League Baseball team is hired to come to Russia to bring baseball to the country and to teach Russian athletes to play baseball, and to form a national baseball team for Russia. This is a very feel good movie about good sportsmanship and friendly rivalries. This movie was made in the 90's so at this time they were allowed to come film in Russia with much less of an issue. The movie is called Comrades of Summer, I recommend it.
Finally, I wanted to recommend one more movie, it is called Moscow on the Hudson, it came out in the early 80's. In this movie Robin Williams plays a musician who defects from the Soviet Union and becomes an American immigrant. This is a movie focuses on Robin Williams' character but is a sweet story about immigrants in general. Robin Williams, of course, is great in this film.
    Best Regards!

Nice to see you relax and have a good time. Really! Glad to be there when you were able to get some girly girl moments in the continuing love story that is Rocky. We all knew things would get better for him once Adrian showed up in Wyoming or Montana or Canada or wherever his simulated Russia was. Still great chemistry between them. Sylvester and, that blonde chick, Brigitte N. worked together again in a cop movie Cobra. It's okay but not great. Most of the people who watched seemed to like it. Oh, he has a great car in the movie. She made a sword and sorcery thing with Arnold S. "Red Sonja ". That Dolph fellow is a big dude about 6ft 5 or 6. Dolph has made a bunch of action things but I don't recall any light action comedies the way Sly has. I had a good time Irina. Hug Montana

The object on the Russian car is tire chains. The rubber compound in tires gets hard and loses traction when in cold weather tire chains hold the whole tire while the weight of the vehicle presses the metal chains into the ice creating a great amount of traction on ice snow and mud

Irina, I loved your reaction video. Your reactions to Apollo's death were touching. It was essential to the story for Apollo to die. He did it all for pride, but no one would have taken Ivan seriously otherwise. It was essential to the story. Rocky loved Apollo as much as he did everyone and he fought Ivan first for the love, then he saw it brought people together too. I was sad too the first time I saw it. That excercise Rocky was doing is called a Dragon Flag. Bruce Lee used to do this.

Trivia: Sylvester Stallone decided that for the shooting of the fight, he and Dolph Lundgren (Drago) should hit one another for real, so as to increase the intensity of the scene. After doing three takes of Rocky taking shots to ribs, Stallone felt a burning in his chest, but ignored it. Later that night, he had difficulty breathing and was taken to a nearby emergency room. It was discovered that his blood pressure was over 200, and he had to be flown on a low-altitude flight from Canada to St. John's Hospital in Santa Monica, where he remained in intensive care for four days.

Carl Weathers (who played Apollo Creed) walked off the set one day because Dolph was being so rough during their fight (under similar circumstances) it delayed shooting for a few days while Sly had to negotiate with him to get him to return. In the end, Dolph agreed to "take it down a notch". But Sly and Weathers have since said Dolph could have easily been a professional boxer.

So since the US and Soviet Union were in bad relations at this time, this movie could not be filmed in Russia. Instead the training in Russia scenes were all filmed in the state of Wyoming.
