*"The Sabbath Truth" is not dependent upon the events surrounding 1844. Here's why*
The Sabbath wasn't accepted by the early pioneers until a full two years had gone by after the 1844 failed prophecy. Rather than admitting that they had made a mistake, what the SDAs did was they constructed a stop-gap argument to explain the failed predictions of William Miller.
Please note that the Seventh-day Baptists had kept the Sabbath since the late 1600s and yet they do not hold to an investigative judgement nor any of the other doctrines associated with it (the close of probation and the Sunday law).
Since the 7th-day Baptists also believe that the Sabbath is still binding, they apparently got to "the Sabbath truth" hundreds of years before the SDAs did, and the 7th-day Baptists got it *WITHOUT* there ever being an investigative judgement start date to show them the way.
