I have made these with fabric and even paper. It's just a tad harder to work with, but still works :)

Thank you so much for the how to! Very nice idea. To make some others project easier if you are like me and the materials needed for this was your first trip into a craft store get wire edged ribbon. Apparently on the huge wall of ribbon they aren't all the same thing in different colors! Lol

Nice red ribbon rose, I've been looking for a rose with this type of fold but haven't come across one! To make a bigger rose would the ribbon length need to be more than a yard long? Or just wider ribbon?

i used a twist tie from bread to tie at the end and it stayed really well

I watched this just this evening. I realized I'm a subscriber when I wanted to see if this "mysterious" topiary had a video also. But my point actually is that I live in Utah. Most folks don't think this state's residents have an accent. You speak like this. Is it coincidence? I wonder. So on to my suggestion that will make making this rose construction easier for my 61 year young, clumsy hands. Elastic holders to pull through. Or ribbon.

She says you can use satin, I think if you want it to crease you'll need floral ribbon, which is what she is using.
