Great fix , nice to see you got it working again after it froze on the friends dvd. Love watching all your repairs ,massive inspiration to me learning how to fix av equipment as i pick up older players and tvs
I have this unit and it works great still. I got it way back in 2010 this machine can do a lot of things. It took me awhile to fully understand how it operated. This is one machine where you need the manual for sure.
Changed the battery on my laptop but forgot to check the video player afterwards, it was 10% slow after the replacement. I was laughing so hard because I thought you'd had one too many highballs for lunch in the second JVC video.. Then noticed the player was -10%, what a hoot.
FYI those Friends discs are known for dying. they were all pressed improperly. My stepmother loves friends and I keep having to go to half price books and buy new DVDs for her.
Hello, I have been looking for a DVD recorder for a long time. I am considering Sony models with hard drives, and I would like to ask for your advice. Which model would be reliable and suitable for long-term use? Please provide some information
is it always capacitor issues, I only ask because I've fixed a couple of cd players not loading discs by changing the laser pickup, never thought it might be a capacitor. 🤔
I’d buy an esr meter. You can quickly go around the board and test in circuit. If a capacitor tests poorly in circuit, it’s probably worth pulling and checking off the board.
That tv was used to display my security cameras hence the burn in. I used my 480p plasma as my test monitor and a 32" lcd to view the camera. That 32lcd got whacked by a power surge and i haven't bothered to fix it. I am using the plasma to frame the camera and the old crt to show test footage. When i get time I will swap out the broken lcd or fix the one that is there.

“That big bastard is back, to terrify all the little dogs and cats of the neighborhood” 😅 😂🤣

Figures. Lots of poorly pressed discs out there. Anything pressed by CINRAM was a joke.
13:37 is it going to peck at a live power distribution cable?
Did you use alcohol to clean the laser lens? I thought you were supposed to clean it only with a dry Q-tip.

I have the 870 model, which has the same issue. Is it possible to lubricate the guides with silicone oil?
Greetings from Rome.
Silicone oil is for turntable damping for the arm. It's too thick.
If I don't have white lithium grease, what can I use as a substitute? Thanks.

Why did you change the TV!?

Atimes, fixing these DVD players can be worse than fixing a VCR.
I have the 900 ,had to replace the laserunit, not Fun to work on because on top of the drive is a digital board with lots of flexycable
Interesting. I have a DVD recorder, but not that brand.
I have 2 Sony 3 Toshiba 3 Panasonic 3 Toshiba dcd / vhs, an lg avs Samsung and a couple junk liteon.
