Cougar Mountain (Whistler - May 20, 2024)

This trail is not recommended for beginners. It is steep in many sections, adding to its difficulty. I initially overlooked the recommendation to visit between March and April, but now I understand its importance. The first part of the trail is well-marked and easy to follow. However, in the second part, I found myself checking my offline map every 10-15 meters, so having an offline map is a must!
The snow conditions vary, with some areas having firm snow and others having soft patches. It's essential to be cautious when walking on the snow, as air pockets can be tricky. I highly recommend wearing hiking shoes with good grip, especially if you're hiking after it has rained. The rocks were very slippery due to moss. Despite these challenges, the view from the top is absolutely breathtaking and makes the journey well worth it.
