And you love the Volair, and you love the gruvn and you love … which one do you actually love the most? I appreciate that these all have some benefits and are fairly similar. Hard to tell what you really like when every review seems to beat the last?
@@timkadom1722 I guess you could say the same thing about alot of reviewers, especially when we are reviewing mainly the paddles we enjoy / choosing some of the best paddles on the market to review. I could review some garbage on Amazon or some $50 paddles if you'd prefer. What I am providing is the nuances that make them different and letting you decide what would benefit your game the most. Knowing what I like the most wouldn't be entirely helpful for you specifically. I think for control I would take the MUVN 13S which is unorthodox for control for sure, but I love the feedback off the face, the hand speed, and the sweet spot, and the extra power / pop you get from it being 13mm doesn't take away from the control aspects, but really gives some aggression needed in hand battles and when driving / serving the ball. I have been playing around with some 16mm control paddles also and they just feel a bit too muted off the face for me and too "cushy" and I feel they have the opposite effect of added pop and actually kind of make it hard to guage distance because they come off so soft (but this is for me specifically, I think someone newer to the game or someone who hits the sweet spot less than I do would greatly benefit from a 16mm control paddle). The Forza and the Runbus R3 Pulsar and the new Nova that was sent to me all feel like slightly softer versions of elongated power oriented thermoformed paddles. (the first Nova that was sent to me was extremely powerful, but the owner sent me a new one and it's more in line with The Pickleball Studio's review) I will do a top 5 overall paddle video for 2023 in a month ish, but at the top there are just subtle nuances and there's a ton of really great paddles. The bread and butter filth would be a wonderful paddle if you want something around $150 and are looking for something power oriented specifically, and you don't want to spend $230 on a CRBN. I'm not just going to say a paddle sucks just to make my channel look more fluid I am going to be honest and I am going to spend my time (these videos take a TON of time) reviewing some of the best paddles in the industry and trying to describe the nuances to not only subscribers but to the sea of people out there who aren't subscribed looking for valuable information to make a decision on their next paddle. Also, I am constantly testing new paddles and I don't really get to just sit on one paddle for longer than a couple weeks (getting footage and deep diving into the analysis and feel of the paddle) before moving to a new one. So it would take some time and honing in what really would be best for me. I think if I was a viewer the main thing I would analyze is what skill level am I, what paddle would help my current weak spots the most, and what would be the most fun for me. I think if power is most fun you can go that route, if you need a larger sweet spot and hit dead spots on your drops / resets a ton I would go that route, and if you hit the ball out a ton even with medium power I'd work on technique and maybe get a paddle with more spin, and less pop. I could talk about this stuff for days and I really love it. I appreciate your comment for sure, I hope my response is helpful :)
Thank you so much for the thoughtful reply. I do appreciate you taking the time to create all this content. Here is hoping to you having the chance to do more top 5 lists in the future :)
Thank you so much for always doing these great reviews! I always use them to look at what paddle I may want to get next and even use your code every single time if you have one for the website. Keep up the great videos!
Thanks for your effort, apparent objectivity and articulateness(?). I have now put you in the elite company of Chris, Will, Luca Berg and John Kew. (Strictly subjective rating). I have been using the Filth for several months now and agree with your assessments. This paddle has beat out the Legacy Pro, the 6.0 DBD, The Perseus, The Volair Forza, most of the Ronbuses and all of the Vatic Pro models. Again strictly subjective but it’s not just the price. It’s overall the most complete paddle for me. Though that being said there isn’t really that much difference twixt those IMO. I am currently checking out the Maverix Havik-16 and the Pickleball Apes Proline Energy with initial favorable opinions. I love this sport and how one can interact with those who are providing cutting edge feedback on several topics within it. As one paddle geek to another do you think anyone- manufacturers, reviewers or players has any real objective idea what actually makes one paddle play differently than another, considering there are so few factories turning out most of these paddles? Keep up the great work, Bob
Love this paddle. Little head heavy is awesome! Its balance is still there, im actually faster at the net in hand battles. I can usually put power to most any paddle.Actually my serving power is a little more powerful with my Gruvn r16e control, which is probably more head heavy. My dinks and resets were great with this paddle. Overall i feel i did not have to adjust to this paddle,,we just connected.

Awesome feedback Bob thank you so much for the kind words and the praise! Sounds like you're very passionate about the game! ☺️ to be honest it's mostly just going to come down to nuances in manufacturing. A lot of the same materials are being used but some people choose to manufacture with a tighter carbon structure, a looser carbon structure, etc to increase or decrease dwell time. So it seems like the decision making in how these same materials are used are what's creating a lot of the main differences. I'd love to hear your thoughts on your same question!
I've been really enjoying your reviews! The Filth is my current paddle and I am considering Volair Mach 1 Forza as a potential replacement. What's your thoughts on them 2 as well as how they compare? They seem quite comparable according to your reviews, but I'd love to know your opinon on their differences, however small, and preference. Thanks!
For me the Forza feels a touch more plush but has the same very hot off the face feel. Sweet spot feels slightly better. I think the Bread and Butter might win on power, but the Forza wins on spin and that slightly plusher feel which gives it a better control game. I think if you've ever used a Ronbus Pulsar the Forza feels very relative to that. I think it would be an awesome replacement! What are you looking to strengthen in your game / what do you look for in a paddle and maybe I can give you a pretty solid overall recommendation.
@stspickleball Wow, thanks for the reply! This is going to be so helpful. I feel confident with drives off both wings from my tennis days and I think my serve has pretty decent pace ans accuracy. I hit a lot of topspin out of habit. The Filth feels pretty good so far and the swing weight hasn't been an issue. If anything, I feel like I have a harder time feeling the ball coming off my paddle with softer shots so I end up either killing the ball or popping the ball up during resets more than I like. I like the Filth but wish it has more feedback on pop, and maybe a bit less jarring during an occasional off center shot? It's my 1st paddle after all so I don't have much to go on.
Nice review on the good points of this paddle. It's not for everyone. With its swing weight of 125 makes it one of the highest in that category. It definitely will slow your hands down if that's important to you.
There are a lot of great paddles at the top. I have reviews of paddles I don't love (Perseus, Alchemy, etc) but I choose to review the most popular / best quality paddles and they all have their own pros and cons, but the general build quality right now of these paddles is great.
Love(d) this paddle (until the Gearbox came along 😂). The review accurately reflects my impressions, too. I didn’t know the figures though so that’s cool!
How do you maintain an unbiased opinion? Do the companies you review provide you with their gear in exchange for an honest reivew or is there an expectation for a glowing review -- or do you buy everything you review? I do not mean to sound accusatory, I am new to your reviews and did not see a disclaimer. Thanks! I do appreciate this review as I am in the market for a new paddle.
Nothing is sponsored that's why you didn't see a disclaimer. I get a small kickback if you use my code for a paddle, but ultimately I am here to provide honest and unbiased information. If every review was just to make money I would lose credibility really fast. There are a lot of people who watch my videos that know as much as I do about paddles, and if they were to purchase one and it doesn't feel like I described I would be looked at as a source of biased information really quickly. I definitely pride myself on honest and thorough reviews to the best of my ability :)
Finally a reviewer giving this paddle the praise it deserves. Seems like you spent a good amount of time with it. Good review
Heck yeah man. Honestly it's just a great paddle. I really like it! :)

I'll see if I can work that one in my friend!!
It’s a great price plus the presentation package is best I’ve seen. Like their t shirts too. My go to paddle at the moment.
Definitely agree :)
Have 2 of their shirts. Perfection
Which did you prefer more: Volair Forza or the Bread & Butter Filth?
Forza for me. Better spin and a better feel off the face ☺️ just my honest opinion
