You took a rusty sad hammer head and transformed it into an example of modern art!!! That design makes it look like it was just forged!!! Great composition and execution. You’re an inspiration for all of us!! Thanks for sharing!! My metal detection scores are nothing like yours!!! The Old Army Scout…
Turned a piece of rusty junk into something beautiful. Well done! I love watching your videos and wish I had your level of skill (and patience! Thats a LOT of sanding!)
Hello, my grandfather passed away 6 years ago now and he was a man deeply connected with the Italian Alps and he passed on this passion to me. Today, while I was organizing his things, I found a backpack that he used, and in my opinion, it is a gem for its time. Unfortunately, it is in very bad shape and has two holes made by mice. It would be my dream if you could restore it, even in one of your videos. I hope you will read my message. Thank you very much.

I've restored three of these riveting hammers. The 300g is stamped very similar to yours. A 200g one that has an old forge mark and the last one is unmarked. I like a slight crown on the smoothing end and the cutting end rounded over.....
ALRIGHT, U ASKED 4 IT - on a scale from 1 to 10 (10) being the best - U got 9.5 as the handle had a little blemish but that was probably in the wood already!!! 👍👍
Great job. And I don’t mean any disrespect when I say this: I wasn’t sure you were going to have any hammer left after you were done sanding and polishing it up….
So if you’re going to square it up and polish it, why the electrolysis? And the vinegar? Or even the initial rust removal ? It makes no sense…just for a longer video ? Lots of channels do this, why not be original?
If you were going to grind down to bare metal then why all the wire wheel and electrolysis rust removal / just seems like a waste of time at this point
When I was in machine shop way back in the 70’s, I had to machine this hammer. Mr. Hempton was a great teacher. FANTASTIC job and great memories. 👌👌

Christmas gift when I was 8 year old kid, identical look, love it ........ small, handy, and useful hammer.
You really are the master at this on RUclips.

Just setting here watching this makes my day, but also I feel like all of that dirt is going inside my eyeballs. 😂

The two grooves around the top is a way cool touch. That really set the look to the next level. Well done, sir. Well done indeed. 👏
Dope AF results, @ReXtorer! This now should be in a museum of modern art!
20 out of 10 easily. Wow that was incredible
Your work is always excellent
Сool restoration but looks cooler with rust pits in my opinion

Thank you! I wanted to experiment)

Very interesting, but I work with metal and wood... I have never done fabric restoration
Another item brought back to life, awesome restoration bro 👍
thanks)
Holy buckets, that's a lot of work though. 10/10. I'd rather watch you do it than do it myself.
Perfect!
Cool hammer
Did you... did you de rusted it just to grind it down? Why didnt you just do that in the first place? lmao
You have 3 subscribers in 14 years, he has 110k and you think you should give him advice on making RUclips videos 😂
Its for the build up..i wouldnt be surprised if he first rubbed it on a couple of titties(preferably female) to get rid of the initial crude.....
@@dirtyfacegeorge9938 its still a valid question. It has nothing to do with RUclips but just with the process

What is the function of all the electrolytes and brushing before you sanded it all down?
I didn't know then that I would be sanding)
Took a piece of junk and turned it into a masterpiece of craftsmanship
From disaster piece to masterpiece.
Nice work.
Genuine question, wouldn’t it have been much easier and quicker just to belt sand it back to good metal from the beginning?
nice work. I never understand why you guys who restore just don't start with the angle grinder....but that would not make for a good video!
Great job. And I don’t mean any disrespect when I say this: I wasn’t sure you were going to have any hammer left after you were done sanding and polishing it up….
So you did all those rust remove, brush cleaning, electrolyses just to grind it to square later?
It was completely unnecessary to remove the rust since you sanded down later heavily.
At that time, I did not know that I would sanding like this. But rust must be removed before working with tools.
I have a hammer very similar.
All the steps previous to 7:30 are meaningless, the result would be the same without it 🤷
👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍
Save your rust and forge it into something
Love the work, but can I ask why bother doing all that "rust" removal just to grind the shit out of it to remove all the damage?
Before you do that you must remove the rust.

I think a copper inlay hammered into those grooves woulda really made this pop!! but its still a beautiful hammer!!
oh and thank you for not using an obscene amount of glue when you set the wedge lol
So if you’re going to square it up and polish it, why the electrolysis? And the vinegar? Or even the initial rust removal ? It makes no sense…just for a longer video ? Lots of channels do this, why not be original?
I make decisions during the restoration process.
@@ReXtorer I would’ve left the sides more rustic, polished, but pitted, the contrast would’ve been nice
Smol Shiny
was that a crack on the bottom side???
But... what was the weight? 😅
I had 333 in my head, dont know why 😂
Much less. The pits were deep...
@@ReXtorer well 33 was in my mind but 233 seemed extremely low! Haha. Lovely work once again!

I don`t understand. why you do a lot of preparations? such as sanding, vinegar etc.... u can only use grinder.....

8:38 I guess it ended up weighting 330 g.
10+ but too pretty to use.
