No one gets through his life with out scars. We are so much more alike than we are different.
The day they went to film at the plane wreck location they were battling 40mph sand storms. The colored smoke disguises the fact that he was being pelted with sand for hours on end. Given that the song is about scars and flaws.... the "not perfect" is absolutely perfect.
Every time I hear someone say "Tom only know controversy" I know they have no idea who Tom MacDonald is. He is a beautiful human.
His tracks are my tattoos. Metaphorically for now, but I have every intention of inking my blank canvas with lyrics from him that light up the darkness in my mind and inspire me to battle my own demons.
Half the reactors I've watched couldn't hold back from singing along with the hook. I look forward to being one of the thousands of voices singing it at a live show.
Physical Graffiti is the name of a Led Zeppelin album... Tom's favorite band. Snuck that shout out passed almost everybody.

First reaction I've seen that noted the airplane crash. Basically depicted his life's been a plane crash but he's still standing the carnage. Phoenix rising out of the ashes.

Great reaction. ^.^ I don't think Tom promoted this song as much as others because he was really worried and even scared of the response he was going to get from it since it is so unlike any of his previous songs.He makes himself so vulnerable in this song he did a low level promo cuz he knew his true fans would listen to it and would probably enjoy it, but for new fans of his songs, or even people who had never heard of him, he was Leary he would get bad feed back. It is one thing to put your emotions and parts of his life with his fans that many know his story already, but to have this song be a intro for someone who has never heard of him before, or even his critics, it would be hard to see people hating on something so personal to him. Last I knew this was #2 on Itunes and he was totally surprised and humbled by it because he never expected it to do that well.
And Physical Graffiti is a Led zeppelin album. One of toms favorite bands so there's that for what its worth. Lol.
I'm still waiting for reactors to catch that.

Loved your reaction and this is the first time I've seen someone actually give it a second listen to really get some of the meanings behind what he's saying. Nicely done! Also, in case you didn't know about this, one of the things he mentions is being down in the dirt...Tom spent some time being homeless for a little while. This man has gone through so much and fought continuously to get where he's at. He is so inspiring to me and I hope to others who've had to struggle and those who still struggle every day with hard times and dark thoughts. Bless you two for the reaction! Much Love!

I know this reaction video is a few months old... but figured i'd post this as someone who has lived almost all of this song (minus the drinking and running from the cops.... thankfully i missed those two hurdles..)
"I dont remember how i ended up here, but i know i prolly should have died." -- Sometimes when you come out of the the other side of those dark places, you honestly dont know WHY you made it out. Was it pure stubbornness? An Unwillingness to just.. give up? Was it realizing you were going down a one-way street and ripped the steering-wheel of life around to turn away from that dark pit? Ask anyone 'why' they are still here among the living after they have come back from that dark of a place, and 9x out of 10, you'll get the answer "i dont know". Because for a lot of us, we honestly don't know just 'what' it was that made us fight to remain. Only that we are still here, still fighting to continue through life. Because 'something' in us is driving us to stay here.
"I dont remember why i cried all those tears, but i know that i turned out alright." --- This could be a reference to remembering being upset about something that honestly wasn't worth being upset over. ie: nearly giving up on life because of a loss of a job, yet here you are in a job you enjoy years later. ie: Feeling like your world has ended after a relationship tanked, but now your with the love of your life. Looking back on things you'll sometimes wonder "why was i so down about this?" when your 'current' life is doing well.
Just my thoughts on it.
