Thanks Adam. Stiffness in joints - specially the hips - are far from trivial. Sometimes, clients who suffer from their stiff ankles have a time hard relaxing as I work around them. So when that happens, I like to use a technique that I call "the nest" : I nest the ankle and the heel in both my hands like I was sheltering a baby bird. And then I stay there and I wait for the tension to lift. Then I get on with some gentle mouvements. I work gradually to let my client get more and more relaxed and confident in letting go. When I do "the nest", my clients tell me that it makes them feel like they have reached their haven. :)
Thanks for sharing ... brilliant, would love to see a demo of this! I find also with some clients the more gentle I am the more they are able to let go.
A really useful video, thank you. I have a new client who has hip problems and presents stiffness through her ankles, so this will be so good. She has a tilted pelvis and lower back pain, I would assume that this will be beneficial for her as well?
Always felt stiffness in right hip. I started massaging that triangle area on both sides and found extreme tenderness on left side. I am guessing my real problem might actually be on the asymptotic side. Thanks. I will keep working on that spot.
Yes, definitely. It works both ways if you have tight hips you will have tight ankles so getting those ankles moving as much as possible will help your ankle movement and in turn help your hips. You can do a simple experiment ... try walking with stiff ankles and see how little movement your hips will have and then try walking with stiff hips and notice how little movement your ankles will have. give it a try.
Thanks Adam.

Really good thank you
Can you use these techniques on a person who has had surgeries on both Achilles tendons?
Love it. My mother in law just had a hip replacement surgery. Would this be beneficial for her?
Thanks!
Show us exercises that we can do by ourselves, please.
Thanks for this! 👣

I believe this will help her a lot, let me know if you notice any improvement by working her ankles.
