Combine this with an inability to ship marijuana between states (as it is still federally illegal), and you create an environment where every store has small shipments of varied product instead of a larger selection in one super-store. Eventually, the consumer will decide their favorite local dispensary, and as it grows, so will it's network, allowing it to stock more and different products. Then, the competitors will slowly close down, making room for the next trend boom. Varied products are crucial to the marijuana industry. In modern times, everyone has a favorite strain; every strain has different flavors and different effects, related to the interactions of different terpenes with the active cannabinoids and each other. Once the industry is large enough to support the inherent wide net a truly universal dispensary would need to cast, the stores will be much less prevalent.
best story about 4/20 legalisation in germany is probably this one: dispenseries are only allowed with certain distance to eg kindergartens, school etc. so in a town, conservatives built a kindergarten in light speed to deny someone the permit for his dispensery

We are willing to travel for our product, and that will be represented in the coming years when the bubble bursts 2. While undoubtably many people use cannabis to be "cool", many more use it for the same reason people drink alcohol: It's simply fun 3. Lack of self control implies that everyone who uses cannabis uses it out of addiction or compulsion, which simply isn't true. Everyone has different reasons for using cannabis, and categorically insisting we are all addicts itching for our fix ultimately detracts from not just the dignity of recreational users, but also the medical users. I highly recommend you to do some research into the subject, as the historical and social studies of cannabis are growing more researched by the day, leading to tons of fascinating information in regards to safe substance use, medication for chronic pain patients, and even mitigating symptoms related to chemotherapy in cancer patients.
