Biography
started playing piano at age of 4.
She started to get an attention with her jazz-based sound that crosses over music genre and also for her improvisation skills. At the same time, her fashion and visual that is unlike any other Jazz musicians got her popularity as well.
As a Keyboard player, she joined a house music based unit called “Inner City Jam Orchestra” which she collaborated with a DJ. She wrote music for their number one hit songs like “SAKURA” , and “SORA - Story-“ , “HEAVEN”. In 2009, she wrote songs and played for their album “RYUDO”.
In 2010, she took a hiatus from “Inner City Jam Orchestra” in order to make herself more active in making her original sound. She started to write and arrange songs, write lyrics, and also started to program her own songs.
In 2012, she resumed her activity as “Inner City Jam Orchestra” with DJ Masami Makino.
In April 2014, She was voted number one for a video competition hosted by Diner’s Club. This opened a gate for her to play in Blue Note. She played along with big artists like world renowned guitarist Lee Ritenour and famous singer Crystal Kay.
In June of 2014, she won 4th place in a piano category in a competition called “6 String Theory” hosted by Lee Ritenour. Ritenour liked Riyoko’s performance at the Blue Note and that gave her a title to compete in “6 String Theory” .
she advanced to semi-finals in Montreux Jazz Festival Japan competition in September, 2014.
In January, 2015, her solo album “Salone” was released and eventually became number one in album chart. “Salone” is a high-resolution recording from her first solo concert in “Salone Fontana”
In September 2015, she played in 14th Annual “ Tokyo Jazz” in swim suit which caught a lot of attention from media. Her name became number one trend in Yahoo Japan search engine.
In November 2015, her mini album “ The Intro: Riyoko Takagi” was release from Japanese major label Avex Trax. It became number one in iTunes Jazz chart and ranked 11th in general chart.
in February 2016, her debut album “ THE DEBUT” was release from Avex Trax and it ranked 37th in Oricon hit chart.
She is currently touring Japan in cities like Hokkaido, Okinawa, Osaka, Nagoya and Hama-Matsu.
She is constantly appearing in media such as TV and magazines.
In February 2017, She won New Star award in JAZZ JAPAN AWARD.
in April 2017, her second piano-solo album “DREAM OF YOU - SALONE Ⅱ” was released.

今年，スペクトラムをRUclipsで見て懐かしくて何回も見ました。その繋がりでドンペイビッグバンドで、川口千里を見つけそのドラミングに驚き‼️RUclipsを何回も視聴しました。その中で一番耳に馴染んだのが，この3人のトリオでした。高木さんのピアノ・千里ちゃんのドラム・塩田さんのベース。うますぎて何度も聴きました。お願いです💿CDを出して欲しいです！

this is one of the first videos I've seen of Riyoko and my favorite recording of this amazing original piece by Riyoko, everything here is perfect but my absolute favorite part is the melodic section between 5:00 ~ 6:00 (I later realised that it was also improvised when I checked other versions of LunaSol), it's so tantalizingly beautiful that it made me check description and to my surprise Riyoko was the composer and that's when I knew she's special, also it was good to see Senri playing with Riyoko and also why I selected to watch this video (I knew Senri from Drumeo channel), so it became even more exciting to explore Riyoko, this lineup should definitely live again
Her jazz pianism is of the highest measure.

(62k views, one of your most popular) your arrangement of that song is hypnotic and I cannot stop watching it. please do something like Holding Back the Years (Simply Red), Piano in the Dark (Brenda Russel), If I Were a Boy (Beyoncé), Thinking Out Loud, or even more Sade. 確かに千里ちゃんの手元が見えないのは残念！どうしても千里ちゃんに目が行ってしまうのは仕方無いが、ＵＰしてるのは高木さんなので、本来は彼女を見るべきと思う。There is no help for it , but , as for not showing money of senri , what eyes never perform to senri a regret surely thinks that you should originally see her because it is Takagi that improve .

千里ちゃんは、明らかに師匠の影響大、
テクは凄いが、グルーヴ感としてはうーん・・
8歳のよよかちゃんのミッションインポッシブル、凄いぞ
ベースが遅い。 これではドラムも大変だ。
このベースはどの演奏観てもグルーヴ感もないし、音も控えめなんですよ。
（笑）じゃあ今度良かったらまたライブやるんで、この曲飛び入りで弾いてくださーい！是非是非！！

クロスオーバー的な曲をきくといつも思うのだが、快く聞き流すという感じで どうも心に残るメロディーが、無いのが、残念といえば残念 千里さんのリズムもノリが、いまいち
貧乏ゆすりしてる客が目障り。やめてほしい。
ベースの主張が煩くて終始バランスがよろしくありませんね。
千里ちゃん、リズムがもたっている。いつもと違ってリズムのキレがイマイチ。どうしたのだろう？
高木さんのピアノの方がリズムしっかりしてるし、テクニックもすごい！！
