I am 59 years old and since I met them 2 years ago I am addicted to their music. Hands down the best metal band these days
From another old metalhead, these ladies have probably been my favorite band since I first heard them a couple years ago. Such an old school vibe. Check out Stand & Deliver or Break the Wall, of course you can't go wrong with anything from Lovebites.

@@oojamap I agree with Boki about watching some live performances before watching the Stand and Deliver music video. It is a great song but the video shows some behind the scenes stuff that you will appreciate more when you know that band better. As for live performances, I will second the suggestions of Bo Yu for Break the Wall and Thunder Vengeance. He has the links in his comment. These two songs were cowritten by Miho, the bassist and band founder who left in August, 2021. Thunder Vengeance is a song Miho started working on after attending a Slayer concert. Break the Wall is the only Lovebites song cowritten by Miho and Miyako, the guitarist that uses Dean guitars (Miyako is the only female Signature Artist for Dean). With the departure of Miho, Miyako is the leader of the band followed by Asami the vocalist (she cowrote Judgement Day).

Judgement Day is the title track of their comeback album after about 18 months hiatus and a change of bassist, the very talented young Fami. (She has over 650K followers on her own You Tube channel with her bass covers, prior to joining Lovebites). There are no live recordings yet with the new line up, although they have started to play concerts. You'll see the previous bassist, Miho, one of the bands founders, in their older live recordings (2019-2021). Anything from the live blurays is high quality. Most reactors cover Holy War and Set the World on Fire, which are bangers, but for a lesser known track, which to me is one of their best, try Today is The Day, from Heavy Metal Never Dies, 2021. I discovered this gem of a band called LOVEBITES just 7 months ago. For me, as relatively recent fan of heavy metal, I consider them one of the most trancendent bands on the planet en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lovebites_(band). They are an award-winning, all-female Japanese rock-heavy-power-symphonic-trash metal band that compose superb pieces with deep meaningful lyrics, chose to sing in English (a difficult feat for native Japanese bands)--with next-level musicianship (including classical piano, opera, and ballet).

I'm old old metal head in my mid 50's that listened to Maiden, Priest, Metallica, Megadeth, Testament, Metal Church etc especially in the 80's. I discovered Lovebites a year ago. They've become my favorite band. This song is off their recently released album Judgement Day, no live performances yet. For live performances I recommend Holy War, Break the Wall, Thunder Vengeance, Set the World on Fire. For slower live songs - Epilogue and Swan Song with Choplin intro. On their newest album - Stand and Deliver and their thrashiest song Soldier Stands Solitarily.
Start with "Holy War" live and go from there... There's something for everyone There are no bad tracks

Congratulations, you just found the best new metal band to come along in decades. In their first five years of existence, they put themselves on par with the greatest bands of metal’s golden age. Other reviewers have described them as alien superheroes disguised as young women, angels, princesses of metal, and angry bridesmaids. They recently went on a year-and-a half hiatus while they searched for a new bassist. They announced the new bassist in October 2022 (see below) and dropped their first new song on December 22. Their new album, “Judgement Day”, was released two months later. Some background:
They were formed in 2016 from the remnants of a legendary all-girl Japanese metal band called Destrose (yes, all-girl metal has been a thing in Japan since at least 1981). Miho (bass, chief headbanger and founder of the band) had a vision of a new band in the style of the great European bands of the golden age of metal. She recruited her former bandmate Haruna (drums, 4'9" “pocket nuclear reactor”); they needed two world-class guitarists, and so they went and found Midori and Miyako, who were with other groups. The four of them then found Asami, the singer, who was doing soul and blues at the time (she was also trained in ballet).
Miyako has composed a little more than half of their music, with Miho composing a lot of their thrashier songs in collaboration with Mao, the lead composer of another band called Lightbringer. Midori has also been getting into the act, and they regularly perform a song written by Haruna as well. Asami writes most of the lyrics and is also getting involved in composing.
In mid-2021, Miho left the band she had founded, for personal reasons. They went on hiatus while they searched for a new bassist, and during that time, two of them had babies, even as the band were writing and rehearsing their new album. They recently announced the new bassist, Fami, who is a young phenom and herself a composer and multi-instrumentalist. The instrumentalists studied all the great historical metal bands going back to Purple and Sabbath, through Maiden, Priest, Metallica, Helloween, Slayer etc. They have incorporated some of the best of each of those bands into their arsenal, and have created a sound that is fresh and cutting edge while paying tribute to the old masters. They toured with Dragonforce in 2019, and word from those in attendance was that next time around, it will be the ladies headlining.
They do everything from soulful power ballads to heavy thrash. Almost every song includes face-melting solos by Miyako and Midori. The two guitarists are quite different in style and tone. Midori (blonde ponytail) is the extrovert and speed demon; Miyako is the introvert, with the more soulful feel (though she can also shred like crazy). Midori uses a cleaner tone, Miyako uses more distortion, pinch harmonics and pedal effects. The contrast makes their duets rich and dynamic. It doesn’t hurt that either one can smoke most of the shredders in the classic metal bands. As another reviewer said, "It seems criminal these two are allowed to be in the same band."

Miyako is also a virtuoso concert pianist, and was headed for a career in classical music, before picking up the guitar. This track only has an MV currently as it dropped relatively recently on X'mas eve last year. It's the title track of the eponymous album, Judgement Day, which itself dropped on 22 Feb 2023. The band played this song and another track, Stand and Deliver (Shoot 'em Down), from this LP during their comeback concerts in Tokyo on 11 & 12 March 2023. Both concerts were filmed. Well if you are old school metal, this will be you new favorite band. You will notice the many old metal influences blended together in their songs. This great but they are better LIVE. Try Raise Some Hell, Break the Wall, Empty Daydream, hell anything LIVE will be awesome. Petite world class musicians who wear their femininity proudly and will blow away anyone else. Japan is the leader in great metal and all female bands dominate the music scene and LB is the leader of the pack with Power, Speed, Thrash, Prog and even classical mixed with metal, like Swan Song with Chopin Etude intro. One promise we can make, you will never be disappointed with anything this band performs.

On 18 June 2018, LOVEBITES won 'BEST NEW BAND' at the Metal Hummer Golden Gods 2018 awards organised by the British metal magazine METAL HUMMER.
On 17 August 2021, LOVEBITES took an extended break after the departure of their leader, bassist Miho.
The remaining girls organised an audition for a new bassist from around the world and recruited a new bassist called Fami(Ba).
Fami is a five-string bassist who can dance, sing and play and has 675,000 RUclips subscribers.

there are many live and a few music vids they sound even better live with the exception of the bloodstock set where the sound engineers for the entire festival failed horrendously the wolfpack will swarm you with suggestions so i won't. all the groups record/cd covers have a wolf on it thus wolfpack for the diehard fans (like me) lol thanks for the thoughtful reaction

Lovebites has tons of live stuff but this song and "Stand and Deliver" and their new album just came out like a month ago so there is no live performance of them yet. But you will be impressed with them live as well. I have yet to find one song by them I didn't like. Everyone keeps asking for "Holy War" by them. it's really good song but that tends to be the first one people react to and I think they have several better. Oh I don't think any other of their songs have the symphonic element to them. But a Piano will show up in a few live performances.

There are others but these are the more popular ones. And one or two of these can be a studio version so if you want Live, make sure you grab the live version.

Lovebites is a phenomenal band. They draw on influences from a lot of the legendary bands and combine them all together. They aren't locked into any one sub-genre of heavy metal. They play thrash metal like Slayer, power metal like Rhapsody of Fire, NWOBHM metal like Iron Maiden, progressive metal like Dream Theater, and speed metal like DragonForce. And they play regular rock and ballads, mixed with classical music and even some punk in one song. In 2018 Lovebites won the Metal Hammer Golden Gods award for best new band. Iron Maiden are a strong influence in Lovebites. Miho, the original bassist and founder of the band is a big Steve Harris fan.
Lovebites have a wonderful way of weaving different metal genres into their songs. There is a wealth of live material 'lifted' from DVD/Blu-rays on RUclips. You have to bare in mind post production but even then, the talent of the musicianship and song writing is mind blowing.

The bassist (Fami) just recently joined Lovebites after winning a competition to replace the original bassist and co-founder Miho. Fami was an internet phenom for her bass playing videos and has a pretty large following on her own YT Channel and had her own signature model Bacchus bass at 18. Despite all this, she was actually thinking of quitting music before the Lovebites opportunity came along. I really recommend listening to her bass interpretation of "Alien Alien". The song itself is a wacky anime score, but its her technique and skill on the bass that blows the mind. Les Claypool with the technical ability of Steve Vai is the only way I can describe it. This is very new material and they just released the album in Feb. so no live recordings have been done as of yet. They do of course have lots of live videos out there and the 3 most watched are Daughters of the Dawn, Five of a Kind, and Ride for Vengeance concerts, they also have Waken Music festival, and Battle in the East live shows. jinger and nightwish are completely different genres and seriously don't stand a chance up against Lovebites. There is a huge difference between progressive metal and symphonic rock, Lovebites does not play any symphonic rock at all. They are a straightforward heavy metal band with touches of thrash metal, progressive metal, hard rock, and power ballads in their catalog.

Grey haired older people with grey beards (like me) instantly understand Lovebites. What they can’t possibly understand instantly is that this is the title track of their fourth studio album, bringing their back catalogue to a total of approximately 60 songs. Not one of those songs is below this standard. And whilst they have certain repeated characteristics, no two Lovebites songs are the same. They have a formula for not having a formula. They play heavy metal better than any band I have ever seen (63 years old). They are their own genre and they are without equal.
