They obviously sent her out this way with the intention of bringing her back at a later date. However, I did hear a rumour that a lot of the actresses never returned over pay disputes (cough Val Lehman cough)
NativeMoon Me too. Yes, she is most definitely a great character. 😊😃 I feel sorry for Bobbie, Cass and Dennis, even Pixie and Judy, but not the Freak. 🙁 The Freak makes everyone's lives a misery, so it's only fair that she gets karma biting her on the arse every chance it gets. 😄😃
It’s about time Ann grew a pair. That’s how she should treat the Freak at all times. Put her in her place and keep her there. Easily the most satisfying moment of the series so far.
@boweryboy07 I couldn't have said it better myself. Seemingly the only way to get to Ferguson is by pulling rank and addressing her in an authoritative way. I felt a "Ferguson Smug" come across my face when I watched it! I was most satisfied with Ann for the first time in quite a while over how she handled The Freak.
Actually, I just realised that in the scene after the German gunman had gone, that (to use their Prisoner names) Pixie, Colleen, Judy and Myra were all together standing there together in the laundry. Sadly, all no longer with us.
I think Cass became one of my favorites. We know she killed a screw at Barnhurst but who was the first person she killed? I don't think it was ever said.
Maybe after some counseling and some medicine and therapy, Cass got better and went home to her Charlie. But that's behind the scenes of course. But that's my imagination fantasy. I love Cass.
@Patrick Nabors I totally agree with you. I felt elation at how finally Cass gets her man and a genuine guy that will take her as she is with all her faults and foibles and then a pang of sadness when I watched how smugly Ferguson told Pixie and Judy about her going to an institute for the criminally insane and never to be released again after her outburst which was only due to her friendship for Bobby. Great acting by Babs MacMIllan...she played the part of Cass brilliantly
Yay Ms. Reynolds you go tell Fergo off... I just like how Cass is so innocent and in love....I hope Rebb and the Weasel get theirs real good... Myra story line is similar to Bea and her daughter but good on Myra for going over the wall to help her daughter... I sure do miss Lizzie.....
Mjtorrence means about Bea and Myra both having daughters being involved with bad people and getting addicted to drugs. If only Bea had been able to escape to help her daughter then maybe she would have still been alive.
Incredible episode! Cass was such a disturbing but ultimately tragic character. Sad to see Babs MacMillan (Cass) and Reylene Pearce (Phyllis) both leave in the same episode; terrific actresses. The show has changed a bit too much too soon lately
I think they both left at the right time there was really nowhere left for Phylis to go as a character and Cass wasn't really needed after Myra took over.
They were amazingly good actors in Prisoner. Cass came in as some kind of out of control murderer but really there was a very soft side to her. Then there were people like Reb and Phyllis who were pretty much evil, however basically gutless when the chips were down.
Lol at the Freak patronizing Dennis about him learning from 'the book' as opposed to practical knowledge. She bangs on about doing things by the book more than anyone lol. Reb blaming Philys for screwing up? If she hadn't been so obsessed with getting one over on Myra, it would never have happened! Phyllis had the potential to be a goodie, but she kept making bad choices. Don't think she was bad at heart, just one of life's losers really (a la Billy Mitchell from Eastenders).
For fans of Babs MacMillan (Cass), there's a great interview with her in the "Talking Prisoner" series. Available here on RUclips, and also on other platforms like Spotify

Rules of management, Reb: You are ultimately responsible for any project you undertake. Don't entrust tasks who aren't equipped to do them. Give guidance and instruction where needed to complete the work. Permanently disabling your minions won't enhance performance, either.
Well, that's the end of another long term character. We have lost so many recently. Phyllis Hunt started of in the background for quite a few episodes before Reylene Pearce was first credited in episode 49. She featured in 138 episodes in total.
In Betty Bobbit's book, she said that she started out as an non credited secretary in episode #1. Betty said she handed out plastic vegetables to the cast members before she left. Betty also gave her a ticket to the Logie's that year, but she misplaced it, but was let into the auditorium anyway. Betty said that Prisoner didn't win any Logie's that year, I am assuming 1984.
It sucks that Stan never offered to take full custody of Cass once she was well enough to be released from Ingleside... It would have annoyed Joan to know her idea of Cass being locked up "for the rest of her life", but it would have been a good end for Cass.
I’d like to think what you say happened off screen, and Stan and his wife, Edie, found out from Bobbie and Cass that Joan is as evil and corrupt as Len Murphy, who Stan worked with at Woodridge.
Shame about the ending for Cass, but the character was very well acted by Babs McMillan overall. It was well written too because a vulnerable character such as Cass could very well end up going exactly the way she went. She had bounced back from several bouts of adversity during her time in the show but the loss of Bobbie's baby was the straw which broke the camel's back. Not at all sorry to see the end of Phyllis, it was long overdue. Perfect ending too for one of the characters I always loved to hate! Entertaining episode.
Poor Cass. I would have loved to have seen her return even in the 500's era. She would have met her friends again. Rita would have been good mates with her and Alice too, being country/farm girls. She would have also met and hopefully befriended Marlene, Sam, Matt, Geoff, Lexie, Jan, Ettie, Anita, the Barnhurst gang, Jenny, the new improved Reb lol, Jessie, Nancy, Roach, Ida, Delia, Marty, Sarah West and the Blackmoor gang, even maybe taking Merle under her wing. And possibly anyone else I may not have mentioned. Hehe.
+Summer21 Makes sense to me. Rita, Jessie, May, Kath and Nora would have looked out for her and she would have found kindred spirits in Daphne and Merle.
+Talk French Ernest Craven, Len Murphy, Bev Baker, Marie Winter, Lou Kelly, Maggot, Ruth Ballinger. Her strength, muscle and clear sense of right and wrong would have made her a formidable opponent to all the above mentioned scumbags.
Well, finally Ann could give Mrs Davidson a run for her money by cracking the shits like that! She really lost it on Judy too... getttt ouuuut!! lol Good for Ann, those women really screwed her over!
The women and their trousers seemed to have that style to them with the big front pockets and with zips on the side instead of on the front. I remember Alice/Lurch with a pair with big front pockets on her trousers like Reb's. I think even the smock dresses that Bea and the gang wore had two big front pockets to them as well.
Myra 's hat makes her look like some kind of munchkin. That's defently what I do if I was trying to escape make a hat so bloody big that no would possibly notice me.Thats the best way to get noticed surly the guards would have noticed a hat like that from people coming in.
It was Pixie that made it from a dress, and Myra didn't see it until going to put it on. The guards probably aren't taking much notice of what they are wearing and the hat could have been bought at the fair for all they knew. There was a woman earlier in with a similar type of style dress & hat she was holding onto with the wind
At 27:22, Joan tells Dennis about a “real governor” in the previous prison she was at, (where she learnt how to be an officer instead of learning by a textbook) being a woman and being tough. In the early days of Joan being at Wentworth, she said that the governor was a man, who was more like a friend to her than a governor. 😲
THE BEST PART OF THIS EPISODE IS WHEN MRS.BERRY TELLS THE FREAK HOW GOOD THE COOKIE WAS SHE WAS EATING FROM ONE OF THE STANDS AND THE FREAK TELLS HER ITS PROBABLY POISONED.
Cass has a big heart. As for Myra's hat - it reminds me of the lampshades Mrs Mainwaring made in Dad's Army. How did she not draw attention wearing that?
That hat makes Myra look like a Leprechaun. Looks like Grundy television were reviewing a lot of contracts that were rescinded this season. Moustache guy, Po face, Cass, Phylis and now Air head. Lol
Oh Charlie 😅 That beautiful thing he said to Cass… about loving the real her. It moved me. I’m a gay man. A cynical, tired, gay man. 41 years old and a few serious relationships that lasted a few years… but on the whole, I’ve lived a very lonely life. Sure, I have friends, but they have their own families, now they have children, busy lives. I’m a nice looking guy, keep fit, good breath, thoughtful and I’d like to think generous… I’m sexually versatile, easy for compatibility… and yet never feeling at home on the ‘meat market’ style dating apps, or the gay bar and club scene. Why am I writing this? I don’t know. I don’t think there really is anyone out there will love me for the real me, or anyone who would take the time to see the real me. So I continue to work out, and try and look as attractive as possible, and try and maintain ‘my product’ on the single scene. But I know a ‘Charlie’ will never come along and tell me to stop trying, and he just likes me for me. That was a beautiful scene. We would all be so fortunate to have a Charlie. I don’t know how pigs give birth, but I could learn! 😂
You know, many of us feel that way. I'm 26 and sometimes when I'm really fed up with all the bullshit, all the sweet talking nonsense and empty promises of something more than just the casual, meaningless mediocre sex, I'm afraid I'll end up alone. If not for anything else then for self-preservation. Most times I tell myself that a genuine, kind hearted, loyal bloke like good old Charlie here doesn't exist, at least not in my world. But he must exist, several like him, somewhere out there. Hopefully I ran into one of them these days and perhaps you would too. Don't give up, it's never over until it's over.
Oliver M Ann did have the perfect opportunity to get rid of the Freak earlier on in this era, but she bloody well let her come back again, which is annoying and frustrating. I sometimes feel that Ann and Meg are too soft on the Freak sometimes, even Dennis, at one point too, whether it's feeling sorry for her, or stopping her from getting the sack.
@@Summer21. completely agree, Reynolds is always going on about how much she stands up for the women but look at how she treats Bryant is this this episode, Desmond in the future… Meg Morris is just as 2 faced. Reynolds had several chances to get rid of Ferguson but backed down every time
I really wanted Cass to have a happy ending. Gutted that she went out like this. A great character.
+NativeMoon That shouldn't have happened. She woulda come back to normal in time.
+NativeMoon The Freak should never have opened the gate for her. Trust her to be responsible for Cass's fate.
They obviously sent her out this way with the intention of bringing her back at a later date. However, I did hear a rumour that a lot of the actresses never returned over pay disputes (cough Val Lehman cough)
Still feel brokenhearted about Cass. Babs McMillian was great in this role.
NativeMoon Me too. Yes, she is most definitely a great character. 😊😃
I feel sorry for Bobbie, Cass and Dennis, even Pixie and Judy, but not the Freak. 🙁
The Freak makes everyone's lives a misery, so it's only fair that she gets karma biting her on the arse every chance it gets. 😄😃
That's the last of Cass? That sucks. On a positive note, it was hilarious hearing Pixie tell off Reb.
It’s about time Ann grew a pair. That’s how she should treat the Freak at all times. Put her in her place and keep her there.
Easily the most satisfying moment of the series so far.

At least Davidson was consistent when dealing with Ferguson, Reynolds talks big but backs down every time she has a chance to get rid of her
Just read that Anne Phelan (Myra) passed away 3 days ago (27 October 2019) How very sad .. May she RIP
the show is full of the dead
I am more sad about Wayne Jarratt
Babs McMillan is a superb actress. She tugs on your heart. She has a tendency for tragedy as well as comedy
Cass's scene here is a bit like a replay of the Kate Peterson era
There's a great interview with her on the 'Talking Prisoner' series - available here on youtube and things like spotify
Well, Dennis certainly won't forget his first week at Wentworth. It's been quite eventful.
Solid exits for Syphilis and Cass. Much better than a “transfer to B block.”
Lol. Syphilis!
Awe I love the Cass and Charlie storyline, so sweet.
It is sweet
Wonder if he'll stand by her now she's....elsewhere. I reckon he probably will.
I loved how Ann was tired of Joan's shit.
Some fantastic acting from gerda Nicholson in this episode. What a beautiful woman, so sad to think that she's no longer with us.
Actually, I just realised that in the scene after the German gunman had gone, that (to use their Prisoner names) Pixie, Colleen, Judy and Myra were all together standing there together in the laundry. Sadly, all no longer with us.
So sad about poor Cass. Babs McMillan is a star - I've seen her in other rôles elsewhere, and she's always quality.
She played Doreen device lawyer
@@TommyRay-wp2eh she can't have anymore

Jude and pixie's friendship is beautiful .
After all the bad luck cass has had you wud think they wud give her a break and let her have a happy ending
It would have been nice for sure.
fabulous acting from Babs McMillan
"Look at her, she hasn't got any friends." One of the saddest things ever said on the show. 😢
I never understood that line. Two of Cass's best friends were standing next to her. It really doesn't make sense.
Well I haven't got any either
Ann is absolutely 100% color coordinated with her office in this episode
Poor Cass, she is fantastic. Her soft caring side is so wonderful to see. Shame she didn't run into Hunt first. No one would have batrered an eyelid.
I think you mean "batted an eyelid" what you wrote has an entirely different meaning.
so sad about cass i liked her character and just when thungs seemed they might finally go right for her

I think Cass became one of my favorites. We know she killed a screw at Barnhurst but who was the first person she killed? I don't think it was ever said.

Cass was a brilliant character
Poor Cass I loved her character.
Myra’a hat though 😂😂😂😂😂 Floppy old shapeless billowing mess. But it got her a free ride 🙌🏻

Ann having a go at Joan was brilliant ! xx
Cass deserved better than this , shoulda had that happy ending on the farm with her chap
460 was a difficult episode with all the sadness, but so well acted especially by Babs McMillen. I'm not happy with Phyillis's exit.

Cass & Charlie are so cute together!
But, whoa! What an episode. The end of Cass and Phyllis. And Reb continues to irritate as usual.
A Ian Smith script and Flanagan directing , they always combined to write classic episodes and this ones much better then most recent ones.
Joan's face at 27:48 lol Not often she doesn't want Ann to hear what she thinks of her ability as governor of Wentworth lol
It's so messed up about Cass.
Good episode. This one, and the last were rare in that they did not feature Meg. The last time she wasn't in an episode was when Bea left!
Cruickshank might have experience of the British borstal system but Cass is a different prospect altogether!
A genuine chill ran down my spine, when the red mist came upon Cass. Babs McMillan is a great actress.
YES! Marie Winter on her way back. Love her sass.
Not seen Anne Reynolds so irate before. About time too. Even the Freak was silenced.
BABS thank you for being apart of this show you are a beautiful woman and a fantastic actress 😊

that was a tense tense tense escape, very well filmed!
