@GERTHINATOR GAMING the new makeup brush style dry brushes are a game changer for sure. You can get some amazing effect that were just not possible with the coarse bristle dry brushes. I use the old brushes to help with chipping and scratching when using a chipping fluid.
I would love to see how you do the metallic swords with the colour gradients, you know like you do power swords. I’ve never been able to figure out how to get it looking right. Not sure if it’s done with metallics or NMM and when I do it it always ends up looking pants!
A product that would work amazingly with your brushes is AK Interactive's True Metals. They're wax based and begging to be dry brushed. The only issue is they require spirits to clean them off, which may wear on the Series D brushes. Maybe you know some trade secrets to reduce the wear/tear, though. I'd love to see you do a video with them, though.
I am SO happy this stuff is getting it's day in the sun. It was under a different name and company in the 90s and then disappeared. Now it's back and its SOOO good.
I've been using this stuff for about 15 years, first learned about it from a friend who did model railway stuff. Amazing product, weird it's only caught on in the past few months
I'm a beginner miniature painter and your fully drybrushed Imperial Knight video has inspired me so much when it comes to the articulate parts of my T'au battlesuits. I'm thinking of setting their bases up as Icelandic-style mossy/lichen-y volcanic terrain and I personally would love a video on how you would go about achieving those effects.
I literally bought the “Downed AT-ST” box today with Inferno Squad and some Rebel Troopers to make a diorama. This paint was my first thought so I ordered it as soon as I got home.
Glad to see more takes on the Dirty Down! I was actually wondering about using texture paint to give more..well...texture for the Dirty Down to work with. Would love to see you use the other two Dirty Down products as well, just to see some extreme weathering help. Maybe see how it combines with Streaking Grime in a weathering special?
Have my eye's on this product for a while. Love rust and the color it produces. Love to see you experiment more! Experiments with the rest of the line is also a great idea.
Really enjoyed your full army speed painting series, which has been AoS focussed so far. Would love to see a new series where you maybe tackle a 40k start collecting set and show how the Artis Opus range (especially the Series D) can be used to paint up the full box relatively quickly and effectively. Would show a good (but not too large!) range of models - including a vehicle, infantry and character. Would be great to see everything from painting through to OSL, weathering and basing. I know 40k is not 100% your jam but think it would make for a great series that would be popular. Could potentially even dial it back 10,000 years and tie in with the relaunch of the Horus Heresy and one of those upcoming sets, which would also let you dip into the grimdark style! Just some suggestions 😁 regardless of what you choose to do, loving the content and thanks for all the videos so far 🙌

Picked up some Dirty Down Rust this morning from my LGS. Just so happens the guy who makes them is local and comes into the store in person to make his delivery. Looks absolutely awesome and I can't wait to try myself!
You can touch up and move and tweak the dirty down with a damp or wet brush for more targeted areas . And would love to see a tutorial for the big 40k chaos knights
I purchased the moss version about a month ago and just like the rust, its amazing stuff. Used it my rocky jungle bases with some very small flock and gamer grass plants. Looks so good.
Really useful to see this and to highlight a product that I haven't seen before, 3:56 Dirty Down Rust will be a quick win for when coming to paint the terrain for a rust affect or even with ork armour or weapons. Certainly one for a purchase. I'll try again but would love to see a way to paint a 3 way on painting textures on a cloak or banners. I just feel they are so flat when trying, recently have tried with embossing powered then painting over, still not there but trial and error.
I absolutely love this product and have used it for my orks, death guard, conquest , maulifaux models great vid friend keep up the great work and hope to see you again at ADEPTICON next year 😁
Hi Byron, that looks like an amazing product, these sorts of tools are making the hobby so much more approachable for newer hobbyists. Keep up the great work and looking forward to your next one. As for your next video, I would love to see you do a comparison of blending techniques. Loads of channels talk about different blending but I find your method of describing things just seems to make more sense so a blending video would be great.
Thanks for this review! From what I gathered it seems that you can reactivate it with water to move it, dilute it on the surface and create chipping at edges if you have a metallic undercoat. Still no experience with it myself yet. I may have missed this info in your vid, but in Canada you can get it from Sunward Hobbies, Fenris Workshop or Kingdom of Titans amongst possibly others.
Learnt more from this channel than any other for painting, managed to go from unhappy with my miniatures to made up! Just waiting for Deathwing before I start my own now!
I'd really enjoy seeing how you painted this terrain in detail. I have a ton of Ork terrain to paint up and I'd love to paint them up to that standard! Thanks!
Thanks for this! I know its a few years ago but gearing up to use this product for the first time found this very helpful! Going to be trying a mix of this and the villany ink rust!
Definitely a great product to have in the arsenal. I've found you can get all sorts of different effects using thinned layers with water and isopropyl as well. Control is an issue, but also helps with the natural effect. Drybrushing back over with metals is also a great look. Keep a little isopropyl handy for all the Dirty Down products to help maintain loose bristles as well

Whoa. I'd love to see the verdigris and moss, I think moss would be a great three way too, particularly with geek gaming scenics having his way, dirty down, then maybe a drybrush method. Great to see the content back Byron!
I been using the rust and verdigris for a few months, the moss has only become available from element games. The rust is amazing on the death guard I painted, I wasn’t impressed with the verdigris but maybe I am not good enough to make it work. Yet to use the moss but the videos make it look amazing. Again the rust is amazing. Thank you for the video, and for the guys who made these products deserve every bit of praise , and I was so happy to give them money 👍😂😊
I'm just starting out and (as I'm a massive masochist) I've chosen my first painting Everest and wanted to get a skew on how to jump off rather than get off the ledge... So I've picked the Cronos "big-fig" from Black Rose Wars, I had the idea because he's timey-related, and I was going to try a brand new armour metal transitioning into near-dust rust... Is this even possible without making it look like I've had to illustrate my breakdown in the medium of acrylics? I'm new to mini-painting and I've been consuming your tutorials like a mad thing - always amazing content that you deliver in a believably positive way - love it!
I'd love to see the moss used! I've seen videos of it but they never really show close ups of the end result, so I can't really tell how good it actually looks
I have all 3. The verdegris is great on large areas but does struggle on smaller sections. The moss is fantastic. I did it on dungeon bowl bases and it looks like real moss.
I just got the AK interactive rust and streaking grime. It took such a long time being in Australia. Now I want to give this a try haha. Love how there’s multiple rust colours from one bottle. Crazy.
I’ve used the moss and it reactivates very readily with water. With that in mind I mat varnished it via rattle can. It really dulls down the vibrancy of the initial effect. It’s still good but worth bearing in mind.
would love a video on True metallic dry brush techniques, maybe combined with the effects you can get from mixing metallic finishes with contrast, speed or washes / inks
I would love to see your take on the verdigris as you expressed excitement there! Its one of the least covered dirty down products out there and in your hands I know it can do great things!
Only got to use the Rust so far, but I've loved using it. Made doing rust feel a lot more...well...relaxing to do! Worth the price, just wish you had the triple pack back up in your store, lol.
@@goblinshut Hopefully you pull through all that trouble okay. :) And there's more cool tutorials about your product as well! It really does deserve to be seen.
I found watering down in the brush can leave some very interesting effects, can get it to go almost icey yellow. I also like to add a little watered down Ryza Rust (saw on next level painting) after, in very small patches to add that "40k over the top" rustyness. You can also remove it very easy once fully dry with just water. The effect is semi permiant! You need to lock it down with a clearcoat after or it will rub off. Either way, this has changed my life! Its just so easy to get a great effect.
@@goblinshut That isn't the experiance i've had, but that doesnt mean im not messing up (will takle a look at your vids). @@ArtisOpus that sounds exciting as well! I purchased a "rust type of paint" yesterday from Vallejo, so I'll be trying it out as you did this one. Tyvm for the info and ideas. Likely going to pick up the product you used today. It looked amazing
You can dilute it afterwards with water and just remove it with some water from areas u want to have less of the effect. Its kinda super easy to shift around with water. I am using it on my death guard
@@ArtisOpus I've used it comprehensively- yes you do have to seal it in. Ideally with a couple of layers of matt varnish. Otherwise you will be reactivating it
Ia is a briliant product, have used it for a long time. My tip is that even when dry you can apply water and push it around to get the effect you are looking fore.
Would be neat to see a branch off of the Rust 3 ways video to maybe cover Verdigris. Both of these are tough areas for me so would be neat to see your take.
Product looks awesome! I'd seen a clip for their moss before, too. I didn't realize this and that were from the same place until I clicked through to the store. I'd love to see your take on some base comparisons with vegetation on them. Maybe tufts vs tea leaves vs some other kind of natural-looking ground filler?
Need to source myself some of that Dirty Down goodness! I’m about to make some crystal cave bases for my Gitz…so a tutorial on how to paint bright eyecatching mid sizes crystals would be invaluable!
More terrain videos! But honestly I'd love to see the verdigris over some old copper roofing like the sigmarite mausoleum or the like! Could also be cool to see a drybrushing approach to different kinds of metallic terrain?
Love to see how you do more special effects like water (pools, droplets, waterfalls), drool, blood, snow all the extras that would really set a model or army off
I know it's kind of bonkers but how about something with the potential to have verdigris, rust and moss, lika a statue in the middle of a natural setting. Also a nice option to test the various products and their limits.
Great vid as usual!!😉 would be very interesting a video on how to make drool or about how to make a realistic water effect!! Maybe using different product such as resin ect😊 PS your brushes are the best😍
This looked great initially when I was playing around with it, but was really easy to pull off the piece when dry. When I sealed it it killed the effect and pulled it back to its wet look. Had to strip the piece and go with a different product.
This is going to be amazing for Nurgle painters. Your products look like they'd really suit sketch style painting. A tutorial on that would be fantastic.
Would be nice to see more on weathering pigments & powders - maybe something on dirtying up tanks or different options to take a nice clean paint job and make it look like it's been dragged through a trench or 2
I would love to see a series of vlogs like “byrons backlog” where you do like the few day army techniques and schemes on your massive backlog cause I’m sure you’ve got some series army starts built up and it would be cool to see some more of those like 2 week projects
Oooh! Going to try this on some Chaos Knights I think. Fancy trying it out on some Vehicles to give us an idea on how to best use it for Walkers, Tanks etc?
@@ArtisOpus I feel like there are loads of videos out there about getting started with an airbrush, but not too many of where to go from there. And the volumes is just something I personally struggle to get right!
I would like to see how you would tackle Aeldari in the Ulthwe faction paint scheme and how you would use dry brushing in lieu of edge highlighting to add definition. Mainly want to see what black and subsquent contrast colors you would choose to really make the minatures standout. Love the videos and the brushes!

3 ways for ghostly minis. Need some inspiration for finally painting all the Nighthaunt I seem to have acquired to look a little different to the black over blue
Hi, i unfortunately failed miserably when trying. Tried to use it on moria goblins, paint over scale75 black metal armor. On test model it gave it little gloss and brass/rust tint but not a bad one. So i poured some on pallette and went with lots of goblins.. (had to add few times). Unfortunately it started to dry on pallette fast.. on models i didn't wipe but also didn't put much of it but it ended very ugly black and glossy. Is there something i could do to remove it? I was wrong thinking it will bring color over dark/ black metal. Please help and advise if there's a way to remove that effect from models without complete repaint
Id love to see you do a relative comparison to AK interactive Enamel Crusted Rust Deposits (Dark/Medium/Light)... It is a little more work (probably but offers the potential for more control and visual depth (I would think). Being OCD I'll probably buy both the Dirty Down and the AK :-(
From what I can tell, dirty down takes considerably less time to dry and isn't as smelly or toxic but you have less control since your time for the reductive technique is way shorter.
Does anyone know how to protect this stuff once applied? I tried varnishing with a matte acrylic varnish as their site suggests, but it knocked it back significantly and I had to reapply it over the top to get the full, vibrant effect back but once again it's not protected. Water reactivates it VERY easily so I really want to find a way to seal it.
Was it a spray or an airbrush dude? A lot have been talking about a couple of light matte varnish coats with the airbrush being the most minimal as far as altering the paint job goes.
@@ArtisOpus I did a few tests on a scrap piece using a Citadel spray can and a Rustoleum spray I had lying around, but I wasn't really happy with either. Will try an airbrush varnish and see if that's any better. It does stay with the others, but it really knocks it back, losing many of the awesome tones.
when I have used the dirty down rust I get a good brown grime appearance but I never get the orangey rusty colour. Does anyone have any idea what I am doing wrong?
I'd like to see some takes on fully rusted marines or other models...by the looks of itthis would be good for orks weapons etc. Also be nice to see some other products by dirty down and texture paints that aren't gw.

That stuff looks fantastic. Good tip on goblin’s hut - they’re $13 cheaper than what I can find on Amazon.
NP, bud :)
I would love to see your take on a black templar tank with series d! Especially as the black templar video is one of your most viewed!
Oooh! Going to try this on some Chaos Knights I think. Fancy trying it out on some Vehicles to give us an idea on how to best use it for Walkers, Tanks etc?
Since you tried DD rust. Try out their moss, it seems amazing. If not as great as their rust (:
Let's find out!
Would love to see a video on painting with volumes or a mid-tier airbrushing video!
Interesting, I could absolutely do that!
@@ArtisOpus I feel like there are loads of videos out there about getting started with an airbrush, but not too many of where to go from there. And the volumes is just something I personally struggle to get right!
Looks brilliant, very realistic. 😉👍
Some of the best products in the biz, that and the moss is amazing!
Would love to see a video on speed painting hordes to a decent table top standard 😁
I think you should do moss and verdigris
Would love to see the rust done more comprehensively and including something like a portcullis
Be nice to see you grimdark a model with some streaking grime and add some of this rust onto it for a finishing touch
I would love to see a 3 Ways to paint on "Glass effect" like in bottles, lenses or windows. This would be great!
I wouldn't mind getting the recipe for that green OSL. It really works great in between that rust.
Like to see Moss version
We got you! ruclips.net/video/DK6XbcCsq38/видео.html
@@ArtisOpus Instead of using a solution I pain stakingly draw on terrain the branching and using clump folliage, make a Moss effect that could be simplified.
Haha the “magenta incident” how could we forget!
Never forget. :|
3 ways for ghostly minis. Need some inspiration for finally painting all the Nighthaunt I seem to have acquired to look a little different to the black over blue
What was the base color of the wall before appling martian and rust?
Skrag brown, trollslayer, fire dragon bright, stippled, a quick drybrush of VGA silver with a little black to darken :)
Great content, as always. Thank you to you and your team for the content.
Amazing tutorial! I would love to see how this could be utilized with chipping medium.
can you review the moss? (Want to moss up ruins.)
Hey dude, it's water soluble! Just patience and wiping will remove it 👌
What is the best product to seal it with, rattle can, airbrush and what brands work best
Would like to see Rust combined with Verdigris!
O_o, I wonder, maybe you would have to seal between...
@@ArtisOpus I do, the two can activate each other
Suggestion:p I would love to see your impressions of mirror chrome paints. In particular if Molotow liquid chrome is as good as they say.
Element are just working on getting this in, perfect timing!
@@stefan020290 Even after the dirty down drys you can reactivate it with water like you can with mineral spirits and enamels!
Ive always been wary about using rust and mud paints. hopefully id like some more.
I am using the verdigris on my Oathmark skeletons and its amazing and quick.
Dirty down moss! I’ve seen great results but I’m still working it out :)
Water! :)
I'd like to see some takes on fully rusted marines or other models...by the looks of itthis would be good for orks weapons etc.
Also be nice to see some other products by dirty down and texture paints that aren't gw.
I assume with a prime and texture paint applied this would work the same on MDF terrain as it does here on plastic?
Absolutely dude, in fact it was made for that! I actually spoke to the creator earlier, he is a smart man, it was designed for film sets and props originally.
@@ArtisOpus perfect! Looking forward to giving it a try. Cheers for the reply.
I would love to see how you do leather, i know you did one on a mini, but i am doing a big 3d printed mask with huge leather parts. Would love to see how you do the seems, weathering, damage and so on on leather
