In my opinion, the Hollywood Bowl performance of this song (and many others) was their best performance! They were at their very best that night…so jealous of you people that got to experience that live!!!
Thank you for reacting to this awesome live Pentatonix performance. They are amazing.
Pentatonix is special for many reasons. One is the group has five lead singers, most groups have one and these are all superb voices, unique voices, extremely high talent. Second is the relationship between them, the core three in particular have been friends since childhood. The tight relationships, the fact that they like each other personally is what allows a group like this to work, there is no jealousy, no fighting over who does what. No group with five leads could do that without uncommon care for each other. The level of interplay and mutual respect shows in their music and in their performances. These people LOVE being together and making music. If you watch Superfruit you'll see some of their personal interaction, and how much fun they have working together. Finally there is an intense drive to excel, every detail of what they do is obsessed over and they just insist every aspect of their work and their productions be done at the highest level. They just won't take second best in any aspect of what they do; they must have picked their production and recording teams with extraordinary care and I bet those all like each other...
Each and every one of them are just so damn good!
"Is there nothing these guys can't do absolutely perfectly?" I'm gonna go with, no. 😆😉There is so much more for you to experience!
I know! It’s gonna be great! Also I couldn’t have timed this any better because due to it being the Christmas period I’m going to be doing a special Christmas theme series of their Christmas songs/music across both here and on the Patreon! Only problem is deciding which ones go on here and which ones will be exclusives….😱😭🤔
Agree. ❤❤❤❤
PTX'S version of a "bad" performance is when they are goofing around and singing each others parts. That is their worst performance and it still comes out great.
2 basic rules with Pentatonix. They only release videos until everyone is satisfied and able to match when performed in concert. 2nd rule: Each member must be happy with their own part and the overall rendition of the song. If not, they either continue to work together until it is perfect or it's not released under PTX label. It might be a single for just one member.
They wanted the video to have an "old-time" photograph atmosphere being still. If you watch Scott's hands are gripping the chair.
Kevin sings tenor, not base and because of the Cello he is drawn to Classical Music. Mitch is alternative while Scott and Kirstin are more pop music which is why they can do HipHop, "Can't Hold Us" to pop like "Shallow" or Bohemian Rhapsody is another level.
They did a documentary I think called "On My Way Home" when they were pretty new.
The best thing to do about their origin would be to look at their appearances on "The Sing Off" third season which they won. The core trio was joined by AVI the bass and Kevin (found on RUclips) the day before they auditioned.
From the videos I've seen, the Hollywood Bowl concert was a fantastic experience for everyone able to be in the audience. I'm so jealous of those who got the chance to attend it!
One thing to remember about this concert is that Kirstin had her baby girl almost exactly 3 months to the day before the performance - and she looks and sounds amazing!
I agree live is amazing i was at this concert and saw them this year at wa state fair live ! If you get a chance go see thrm live ! AMAZING sumd it up . .
She was good in Say Something, but that was several years ago. Her voice has matured and has become so much warmer and richer.
You said you wanted to check out them rapping, I would say to check out 'Can't Hold Us', 'Problem', 'Butter x Dynamite', also Superfruit (Mitch and Scott's old side project) 'Feelin Myself'
When it comes to picking the next Pentatonix reaction, I wouldn't say this about any other group, but there are none I wouldn't recommend. Though there are obvious fan-favorites, some of my favorites are pretty deep in the catalog and don't have official videos.
I appreciate your persisting with Pentatonix despite the blocks. I know you don't want to alter the video image; is there no way you can do a RUclips version with the image altered and another version with the clear video you can show to people? I'm clueless about the technical stuff. Most Pentatonix live videos have been captured by fans from television appearances or livestreams (like this) or captured by fans live at a concert. Those don't appear to have a problem with blocks. And there are plenty of audio only or fan-created lyric videos that usually wouldn't have a problem with blocking.
You've got to watch their original song (one of them) "Run to You"
The official video of this is pretty awesome with it very 1940's style setting, but yeah...it'd get blocked. I think there may be a couple of old vids explaining how the group came to be, but generally...
Scott, Kirstie and Mitch all grew up in Texas near each other and although they attended the same music and music theatre classes, only Scott and Mitch knew each other around the age of 10 and became friends, Kirstie met Scott at some point in her early teens and they became friends and a year or two later they were all attending the same high school in Arlington Texas and got to know each other. They did perform together in school as The Trio. After Scott and Kirstie graduated they both moved off to college, Scott in California and Kirstie in another state...Mitch being a year younger, hadn't graduated yet.
While in Calif, Scott heard about the TV show competition for a capella groups called the Sing Off and wanted to enter. His friend Ben Bram ( who is still their arranger) worked for the show. Scott got in touch with Mitch and Kirstie who wanted to enter as well...but they needed 5 minimum people for the group. Ben put them in touch with Avi whom he knew from a different singing group and Avi agreed to become a group member. But...they needed one more person. A beatboxer. And that proved very difficult. They finally resorted to RUclips and found Kevin playing his cello, Beyonce, while beatboxing and immediately got in touch with him. Kevin was just about to write his exams for Pre-Med at Yale, so wasn't able to join....however a few days later, after graduating Pre-Med, he decided to join them. They entered the contest and won a record contract with a Sony subsidiary and $200,000!!
But all was not well with the recording contract who, after all of the group moved to LA, cancelled the contract because they didn't think they could successfully boost an a capella group. Undaunted, the group decided to make their own videos and post them on RUclips....and it worked! They'd sit on a couch in one of their apartments and record themselves singing on Mitch's IPad. They eventually gained a LOT of views and Sony got interested and offered a record contract with another subsidiary, Madison Gate. Te rest is history!
Kirstin and Mitch met each other at age 8 or 9 years old. (Mitch patted her hair puffs. LOL) Kirstin met Scott in 9th Grade English class.
Just joined your Patreon for more PTX! Looking forward to this amazing 12 year old rabbit hole!
Oh wow! Thank you so much! I am honestly blown away by how many people have joined the PTX club on the Patreon already. I’m pretty certain there hasn’t been any other tier that attracted as many new members in such a short period of time as this one has. Not even when I opened the $1 a month tier did attract so many new members in such a short time. ❤️
@@YorkshiremanReacts26 The Pentaholics are a voracious lot 🤣
@@YorkshiremanReacts26 also for a full length film- there is their "On My Way Home" documentary from 2015. It is 1.5 hours long and chronicles their world tour that year. It is amazing!
You should check out "Can't hold us and Imagine
As to more info on PTX, look back to your reaction to Hallelujah and my comment 2 weeks ago. A FULL background history!
About documentaries -- There is a fan-made "Beginner's Guide to Pentatonix". It introduces the members, and goes through a history of the group, but only up to 2019. It's about 15 minutes long. Some people think it's too spoilery because it's made up of short excerpts from Pentatonix videos. I think they are too short (about 10 seconds) to really spoil much, and may give you an idea of videos you want to react to. ruclips.net/video/lDxIfwfCmQE/видео.html
Check out Adam Rupp from Home Free... his beatboxing is insane!!!
Try Making Christmas, Come Along, The Wizard of Ahs
Bradley Cooper was good but Scott is a much better singer.
