A tote with an outside zippered pocket for a cellphone and transit card is helpful. I also like bags that have a few compartments inside so small things don’t get lost.
Several years ago you did the Fall Tag video, and I LOVED it! Felt so cozy and had some great finds and tips in there. Would love to see your updated version of that oldie but goldie.
I LOVE the idea of a well loved reading/writing chair! I am going to do the same you have totally inspired me! Look to estate sales. You can always have one made which also sounds delightful however a chair with an interesting history like you said, oh my goodness I could drown in something like that! So supporting you in this treasure hunt. Also, I love the bag concept and your yellow scarf. I am going to take a second look at your collection 😍 Your friend, Kristine
If I were designing a large work bag it would definitely need a thin “tether” inside to clip keys to. I have a giant Michael Kors bag that I carried today and I just kept wishing it had a “key leash” in it. Haha. Keys ALWAYS get lost in large bags- even when they have little pockets.
Elle Florence Thank you for taking my suggestion into consideration. I love the braided handles, btw. Also, go for the used reading chair. I know exactly the aesthetic you’re talking about and I think a used chair with character would be wonderful. Plus, there’s so much waste in the world today- luxury goods are made to last and they should live many storied lives and be loved thoroughly.
For the work tote, a must for me is a zippered top so my things aren't theft prone and won't fall out. I prefer straps to have a metal hinge so they don't break or crack with just leather straps. I love the look of metal feet as well. So excited for this next project! 🙌
I have been a big fan since you started your RUclips videos. Have enjoyed watching you go through challenging areas of your life and always have a smile on your face and look to the future with positive thoughts. You can adapt to different challenges such as how you handled lock down with COVID, your moves from Canada to the United States, your jewelry business, scarves, etc. I love the interaction with your mother and your cats, the videos on cooking (miss the ones where you made pasta from scratch), and fashion. Love your photos shoots in Hawaii displaying your jewelry. Now you are designing a tote bag. No stopping you !!!
I love your new travel luggage! The tote shade is very nice. Good luck with this project. I’ve had a braided bag in the past, if it got too heavy the braids were painful on my shoulder. It could help to have a plain flat piece under the braid, on the inside to allow for more comfort. All the best with this project. Great to see you expand your creative side. Wish you all the best 🙏🏼
Love the idea of commemorating passing the Washington State Bar with a beautiful leather chair. I know a few people who have the type of chair you are describing, Elle. Since, I live in the Northeast and the aesthetic is more formal than on the West Coast.
I don’t know if you can make it look « chic » but I would love a work tote that you can also wear as a backpack for when your shoulder hurts. I would love something classy and functional.
I like the style of the ralph lauren chair with the lower arms and higher back. I am petite and like to rest my arms on the sides. Your bag would even be perfect for an overnight get away. Great size for toiletries and pj with next day outfit. I really like the straps.
Love your channel and have watched you for years. I love bags that have an outside zipper to keep my keys which I find handy so I don’t have to open the whole bag for my keys 😊
I really enjoyed this video! Congratulations on passing the bar! What a huge accomplishment! I make and sell handbags so I'm very much interested in your thought process and prototype findings! Loving your creativity. One thing I've found in my years of creating handbags, totes wallets etc. is that they are very personal. What one person may like another may not such as slip pockets, zip pockets, handle styles, dividers etc. For me personally I love a well organized bag and pouches to round up loose items. I don't enjoy carrying a bag that I have to dig around to find what I am looking for. I often make sets that include a pouch of some sort, the handbag and a wallet. Looking forward to future videos!
It’s so exciting that you are designing a bag. For me a work bag has to have a zipper on top. The best way of getting around Melbourne’s cbd is by tram and you get crammed in like sardines and pick pocketing is rife so it must be secure. A large zipped pocket on the outside that can fit things like mobile phone, transport card and keys is very good too. So are metal feet on the bottom. Work bags tend to get put down in offices, conference rooms and on the train so the bottom takes a beating without feet. With your reading chair, have you considered getting a vintage one that is a bit beaten up and getting it refurbished? My Dad inherited his stepfather’s recliner. It was covered in brown leather, which Mum didn’t like, and she had it recovered in green velvet. I always thought that was a bad idea so if I inherit it it will be going back to leather. Cognac leather would look brilliant in my study.
Your vision for your future study sounds so lovely, like an old world jewelry box of a room which is perfectly fitting! I am a huge marzipan lover so will definitely be making the financier treats, they sound delicious & simple!
Input for the tote....lining with a soft color so you can see easily lots of Pockets like Vera Bradley and a crossbody strap that can be removed and or changed
For a tote/work bag suggestion, I think longer vertically vs horizontally would be nice. Like the Maxwell leather totes, but longer so my laptop doesn’t stick out. An inner divider for my computer and folders would also be nice. As well as a small inside pocket and a top zipper that’s concealed. Really excited to see what you have planned for this tote! :)
I totally agree with longer vertically is slimming / sleek and also easier to carry with weight closer to your body. Excited to see the finished product!
I know I say this about all your videos but I love this series! I always learn something new or find out about a new product that I know I'll love. This time I especially loved your succeed tip at the end... it's exactly what I needed to hear in this chapter of my life. Thank you!!
For your tote, a beautiful leather that doesn’t scratch or stain easily. An outside zipper pocket for phone or keys. Love the braided straps. My Neverfull straps often dig into my shoulders if I carry a lot.
For the work tote: a separate interior storage pocket big enough to fit a laptop charger, I hate when things get stuck in my charging cord and I’m in a hurry. Also please offer it in black!
Your videos are always so enjoyable to watch. I know whatever the topic you will cover it in the most honest and truthful way. Love your cashmere sweetheart and your scarves are just beautiful. Good luck with your hunt for a great reading chair, can’t wait to see what you select.Wishing you all the best ❤️
Tote ideas: Easy access pocket for phone; high quality gold tone hardware! I don’t care for the champagne gold that’s popular now and hate that it tarnishes. There has to be a metal that can polish or be slightly gold plated for longevity. Fun video!
I love the brown color! Not a fan of braided handle. They dig into your shoulder and the braids come loose. I would want inner pockets and a divider in middle. I would like a big fat long handle that I crossbody with. I would like some brass studs
J’adore ce genre de vidéo…😊 J’ai déjà ajouté à ma liste la série sur Paris! Est-ce que l’outil que tu as présenté est sécuritaire pour tes foulards, car je n’ai pas encore osé l’utiliser sur eux?
My ideas/preferences for totes: zip top, outside pocket(s) for transit pass/phone, inside pockets and straps long enough to easily go over the shoulder. A nice cognac pebbled leather would be my choice of material as well. Love your prototype though - it looks “cosy”. 😊
Since you asked. Handles that don't get damaged quickly and are comfortable to be on your shoulder/arm. Also, enough length so you can quickly swing the bag onto your shoulder. I hate it when it's not long enough and I struggle to slip it on my shoulder. Also, leather that can look better with time. I tend to like a saffiano leather b/c it hides scratches. I also love the Balenciaga city bag type b/c it does well being used and abused. But, not so stuffy. There's a huge gap in the market for professional bags. I'm an attorney and want a professional bag, but not a boring boxy type either.
When you talked about the “unfortunate stains” on the seat of a reading chair, you had me laughing!! I’m an RN, so my mind really takes off! (One reason I worked pediatrics 🤣)
Elle, maybe you could consider using Columbian, Italian or Brazilian leather. I think having a tote in a lighter tone like a cognac color that is fully lined with pockets for storage inside would be great. Having a micro fiber, suede or nylon lining would good options for your new tote. Having options for both smooth and pebbled leather would also be great as well.
Think of a wing backed leather chair, maybe in a distressed cognac or warm brown leather. So you can rest your head and back when reading. Maybe one that could recline possibly. And maybe has arms that you could rest a laptop on or a book. I was imagining your beautiful old library as you were describing! x 😊 📚 📖
Office-tote-wishes: - Zipper (which you did and I absolutely love you for) - Big enough for a MacBook (again- perfect you’re already designing it like that) - Compartments inside instead of one big space which makes it impossible for me to find things - feet - a longer strap option - Smooth leather - Black Can’t wait to see what you end up making. Good luck!
Hi Elle, my ideal bag would have little feet to keep the leather off wet surfaces, an outside pocket for ‘ where are those keys’, and a top zipper so that nothing spills out. Inside the bag, I love little open pockets for Kleenex, a pen, card holder, my cell phone. And also inside pockets with zipper for lipstick, cough drops, my little dental floss (a bunch of small loose things) . Hope this helps
A reading chair is a wonderful purchase - especially with working from home! Looking forward to seeing your purchase and your new work bag. :-) I recently purchased an Ooni too! I would love to know which table you purchased. Could you link it? I am tempted to purchase the Ooni one. Thank you!
The Away luggage should last quite a while... but for next time... I highly recommend Tumi. I bough the 19 Degree International Carry On, Short Trip, and Extended Trip and the Colina Duffle in 2018 and it all still looks brand new. It's worn quite well and I love the monogramming. The duffle feels so luxurious.
The bag you have now would be a great baby bag / love the idea of you doing handbags. I would def make the bag the brown color it is, ( love that) zipper inside for wallet/ phone / meds lipstick / then separate compartment for lap top with a nice leather closure so laptop stays in place then an empty side where you can slide a notepad scarf gloves …. Simple but the braided shoulder straps makes it unique. I would do dark zipper so the bag Stands out instead of the gold or silver🍁🍂🍁🍂🙋🏻♀️👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼love your up front and honesty with us. Xoxo
We have a big corner space in our master bedroom and we also want a leather reading chair. It’s definitely an investment piece. We were looking at Pottery Barn and having it customer made. Hope you find the perfect piece for you
RE: the chair. Not sure if you considered this, but there are some fantastic independent designers/furniture makers. I’m thinking of Aidan from Sex and the City. There’s a Pottery Barn in every city, your life’s moment should be marked by something more unique. Complete personal opinion. Always love your videos.
i like good quality leather but that is not too heavy. the givenchy antigona seems like an attractive choice for me but with a more available opening so one can see what is inside and can fit a laptop, the straps need to be a kind that don't slide off and preferably thicker so its more comfortable on the shoulder or possibly backpack style, and/or possibly both short and long straps? I am in the medical field and i like the doctor bag (might not win the popular vote) but i'm hoping one day i can afford one and I'm hoping to find one with a slight feminine twist while still having that authentic and high quality structure that will last a lifetime. Thanks for the motivation at the end, we all need to hear it once in a while bcs sometimes we forget that we deserve what we have accomplished and what we are striving for. enjoy ur videos!! =)
Cute bag! I love the braided detail! I few observations (this may not be what the majority of people think but): I would focus on keeping the bag lightweight yet structured: smaller (diameter) braided handle; mix of leather with other high quality low weight material; smaller like you said just big enough for work computer. Love the color!! Good luck!!
Hi Elle … you seem to be doing well 😊 Ive been on the hunt for a messenger/tote/satchel type of bag for AGES! Key points on different bags I own that I try to look for on a bag are as follows … outside pocket for phone or keys etc is a MUST or a full on large sleeve pocket on the back of the body of the bag … I really like the look of The Cambridge Satchel Company with the buckles on the front but I feel like the buckles should be snaps for easy access with an internal zipper across the top … I think strap options are also a great idea … cross body or hand held but more than anything I find it super annoying when a tote has short handles that you can not easily and comfortably slip on over your shoulder … lastly I think personalization is so much fun … Initials or symbols …. Anything that’s your own … whew … no wonder I haven’t found anything! Great video 🥰😊
Congratulations for your exam…this video was much more like your old ones…really liked it..it was a while I couldn’t find the real you who I started to fallow since 2015… appreciate if you can share your study journey with us ❤️❤️😘from Melbourne
As an interior designer, I love the idea of an investment chair you will keep forever. It would, of course, be ideal and more sustainable to find an estate sale gem, but that hunt could take a very long time. I have not had the best experience with pottery barn furniture and I don’t feel like the quality and price point align. Same with RH. I would highly suggest finding a designer or a furniture retailer that carries CR Laine, Century, or Hickory Chair. They are all made in North Carolina and have excellent quality to back up the investment you would be making.
Thank you Karla! ♥️ What do you think of Buffalo leather? I’ve found a few US made companies that sell them - lead time is long too but it might be worth the wait!
@@ElleFlorence I don’t have personal experience with that one, but I imagine it’s rather substantial and would develop a good patina over time. And lead times are sooo long for almost all furniture, but it’s worth the wait for good custom quality. 6 months can fly by pretty quick. Somehow it’s basically Christmas and feels like it should still be August.
Last month, after relocating, it occurred to me for the first time ever that I wanted a comfortable reading chair. I am definitely looking first at estate sales within specific areas, since I’ve acquired other gorgeous pieces that way, but if I can’t find the right one that way then I will likely choose one from Restoration Hardware. Your ideal chair sounds lovely! Good luck in your quest for the perfect one. 🍀🤍
I found an amazing chair & ottoman on a local resell. I contacted the owner & we came up with a time to pay & pick it up the next day. When I called to confirm the time, she said she had sold it?! What? I’m not exactly sure what happened. Still looking, tho & hope you find a great reading chair soon!
I only purchase totes with feet. I can’t stand when bags do not have feet. It has to be easy to wipe clean, both outside and inside- and with decent-sized zipper pockets both front and back for easy access are also important. A good amount of pockets on the inside or a laptop-sized pocket is great too, and a key ring for keys is s great plus. I also love totes that zip at the top. I can’t stand the feeling of someone looking in your bag 💕
The one thing I would love to find would be a nice pebbled leather tote. Im not a fan of heavy/stiff leathers like the safiano which makes an item so much heavier and cumbersome to carry. So something pliable, and strong enough like a pebbled leather where you wouldnt see the scratches unlike other leathers. Even of its vegan for me pebbled would be the way to go because its low maintenance enough for me not to worry as much with baby sitting a bag, which I refuse to do. One nice thick strap that doesn’t dig in to your shoulders or two straps but not too thin. 🙂
@@sarahs1212 wow thats a really nice bag. But yes just like that with that the exact description. Not too crazy about the feet on any bag but thats a beautiful bag.
I understand your point but if you choose the style, size and leather and it’s final sale and shipped in 4 months, what would you call it then? Perhaps customized would have been the better term to use? ♥️
Patiently waiting for Ellemas!!!

Jessica Simpsons bags, that I have, have that! It’s so handy! 🙂👍

I love the prototype for when you are feeling that boho look. I like it a bit smaller, and 3 compartments with pockets. Love those braided handles xxx

Elle, you are so full of wisdom, I love hearing you speak. I always take something away that I can apply to my life, to my self. Thank you
Aw thank you Carmen ♥️
Love the idea of commemorating passing the Washington State Bar with a beautiful leather chair. I know a few people who have the type of chair you are describing, Elle. Since, I live in the Northeast and the aesthetic is more formal than on the West Coast.
I don’t know if you can make it look « chic » but I would love a work tote that you can also wear as a backpack for when your shoulder hurts. I would love something classy and functional.

Great video! For a tote, I like an inside zippered pocket and for the bag to be lightweight!
Water bottle holder or spot is a must for me!
I love the idea of a tote. I would love to see an inside pocket for my phone and my credit card case.
For handbag- Zip top, pockets on the inside, lighter weight, easy on the shoulders
Your vision for your future study sounds so lovely, like an old world jewelry box of a room which is perfectly fitting! I am a huge marzipan lover so will definitely be making the financier treats, they sound delicious & simple!
It’s hard to explain but I can so clearly visualize it, even smell it haha! ♥️
Input for the tote....lining with a soft color so you can see easily lots of Pockets like Vera Bradley and a crossbody strap that can be removed and or changed
Thank you!
I have a leather chair from Crate and Barrel. Highly recommend!
Hi Elle!! For the tote, an outside pocket. Also, a reinforced bottom so it doesn't bend when your bag is overloaded : )
So excited for everyone’s vlogmas this year but especially Elle’s vlogmas. It’s always so entertaining
Really enjoyed your tip for success! I will forever remember that as I forge through my next steps
For the investment piece/chair: I would personally go for classic stressless (brand) chair that you can customize...SO COMFY!!!!!
I know I say this about all your videos but I love this series! I always learn something new or find out about a new product that I know I'll love. This time I especially loved your succeed tip at the end... it's exactly what I needed to hear in this chapter of my life. Thank you!!
For the work tote, I love your handles, too! I would want it a bit more structured with 2 separate compartments. Wonderful video!

I’m a big fan of browned butter and also of Madelines, so I can’t wait to try the Financiers recipe!😋

I loved Parisian agency! Hoping for season 2
Waiting for Vlogmas Elle!!

I love the brown color! Not a fan of braided handle. They dig into your shoulder and the braids come loose. I would want inner pockets and a divider in middle. I would like a big fat long handle that I crossbody with. I would like some brass studs

Hi Elle, please have a small pocket/divider in your work tote for keys/hand sanitizer/phone so that it's not just a bottomless pit!!!
Whooo hoooo I have purchased 2 cashmere one off white and one tan I need that yellow scarf darling let me know if you still have that color.
Yes I do! Thanks for asking Susan ♥️
@@ElleFlorence okay thank you

Key points on different bags I own that I try to look for on a bag are as follows … outside pocket for phone or keys etc is a MUST or a full on large sleeve pocket on the back of the body of the bag … I really like the look of The Cambridge Satchel Company with the buckles on the front but I feel like the buckles should be snaps for easy access with an internal zipper across the top … I think strap options are also a great idea … cross body or hand held but more than anything I find it super annoying when a tote has short handles that you can not easily and comfortably slip on over your shoulder … lastly I think personalization is so much fun …
Initials or symbols ….
Maybe you could put bottons on the side to make it smaller or larger size
Handle drop 11 inches or longer, outside pockets. Love the size you showed, smaller would not do. 😉
Wonderful video, Elle!
Missed you in You Tube!!❤️
Looking gorgeous
Thank you Jo! ♥️
Stunning necklace elle is it one of your designs?
Yes it is! The Baroque Toggle Chain, just launched! ♥️
@@ElleFlorence great thanks I'm putting it on my Christmas wishlist for 🎅
Last month, after relocating, it occurred to me for the first time ever that I wanted a comfortable reading chair.
Thank you for your input! I agree, buttery over stiff but still durable ♥️
I've been eyeing the Polene Le Cabas for this reason!
@@sarahs1212 wow thats a really nice bag. But yes just like that with that the exact description. Not too crazy about the feet on any bag but thats a beautiful bag.
@@yjime22 It's a never-ending quest!
You look so beautiful!
Yessss!!!! More content!!
I would like to see a zipper, and bigger pockets
Love theese videos Elle❤️👏🏼
You are so gorgeous
omg
Custom made and potterybarn are not the same thing 🤦🏻♀️
I understand your point but if you choose the style, size and leather and it’s final sale and shipped in 4 months, what would you call it then? Perhaps customized would have been the better term to use? ♥️
