    I adore Pearls home! I have two of her books and although her style is nothing I could pull off in my own home, I love it!

    Loved all of the homes and the experience of being guided through hundreds of years of well-worn patina. The last host's tale about her husband getting testy with all of the semi-functional thrift-yard finds was hysterical!

    I agree about the 'David Austin' roses', they're the best Rose growers' 💯. Most of my roses are from this grower. 🌹 😁 🌹

    I will never understand the tables and ottomans covered with books.

      Like most conventions of decoration, this feature is an allusion. In this case it references the experience of men and women of letters. For so many of us, the stacks of books make a room not only cozy and warm, but also promising us the intellectual adventure that has been ours while nestled in fine old rooms and libraries. The overload of books is a Bohemian trope as well. Perhaps you do not like the 'clutter'. Just not your taste, perhaps. I bet you have good taste, and good taste can vary a lot. But the stacks of books on Ottomans are understandable and a motif shared by many. By the way, a room heavy with books creates a different sonic environment as well. I like the muffled soft tones of conversation in such a room, as opposed to the hard echo of a minimalist room with hard surfaces. The latter may not be my taste but can be very beautiful. With a little effort we can, indeed, understand taste that is different from our own. I responded because your comment sounded as if you were genuinely interested in knowing the basis for this frequent convention of decorating. I hope my comment is helpful. Again, I bet you have good taste, and I would likely enjoy your design decisions even if they are different from my own.

      Oh I know! It's because a lot of folks don't really like the telly much.....so we READ. The library of the past has been replaced by the t.v rooms of today sadly. And the many rainy days make for a time for tea and a good book.😊

    • @CatskillsGrrl
      @CatskillsGrrl 24 дня назад

      @@grettalemabouchou6779 and where exactly do you put your tea with the table covered in books? My multitude of books are on bookshelves. The clutter of the oh so artfully displayed Tom Ford coffee table book - that I sort of doubt anyone reads - drives me bonkers.
