Happy ''40th'' Anniversary!!! I lived in a small town that didn't allow dancing so my Senior year 1970-1971 we fought to have the first prom ever held in that town and we won. The girls didn't wear formals and the boys didn't wear tuxedos and all we could do is rent a jukebox with music that we got to pick, just the students in the Junior and Senior classes could attend and it was held in the small school cafeteria and it was a total success!!! My best and favorite memory of my school years. I'll soon be 71 years old and I'm still dancing.....

As far as I know, they continue to have their proms. Being such a small town and school system, we had Junior/Senior banquets that the Junior class had to plan and pay for to honor the out going class of Seniors.Since it was my Senior year(70-71), we fought for the prom and won so we just combined the banquet with the prom and split the cost with the Juniors. There were no gowns or tuxedos and we couldn't bring dates, it was just the students, class parents and faculty and we rented a juke box loaded with our choice of music. Just a footnote-In my Senior yearbook, there is a pic of my beautiful Mom and me rocking to the music on the dance floor.
I’m 59 next week and was 18 when this film was released. I loved it then and still do, and this song, and I had the biggest crush on Kevin Bacon, and that never changed either 😅😊

I just watched Footloose for the first time this morning. I had it recorded on my DVR from the other day when it came on AMC channel. In 1984 I was 2 years old so of course I never seen Footloose in the 80s it was great to hear some of the music in the movies I love 80s music.

I’m old enough to have watched Footloose the movie with Kevin Bacon and heard the song on the radio growing up. But, it was always just “ok” in my opinion. Today, The Umbrella Academy brings me here, and omg the Footloose dance off in episode 1 S3 has, after all these years made this song a hit in my eyes. The Umbrella Academy and The Sparrows did this song justice as only The Umbrella Academy can. Hopefully they will post that scene soon, so enjoyable to watch over and over again.

I’m old enough to have watched Footloose the movie with Kevin Bacon and heard the song on the radio growing up. But, it was always just “ok” in my opinion. Today, The Umbrella Academy brings me here, and omg the Footloose dance off in episode 1 S3 has, after all these years made this song a hit in my eyes. The Umbrella Academy and The Sparrows did this song justice as only The Umbrella Academy can. Hopefully they will post that scene soon, so enjoyable to watch over and over again.
