You actually enjoyed listing to Sid? I couldn't/still can't stand listing to him because of how often his voice goes from a normal volume to yelling back down to normal and back up ext all in the matter of one sentence except he does that with every single sentence he ever spoke. It's like when a toddler learns how to control the volume on a stereo by twisting the knob back and forth. I could only imagine this is what it's like for an older person with hearing aids who's batteries are starting to go out (or Shane Van Boening).
@@SoCaliSurfer13 sid is a legend. His quirky one liners and screaming is what made him Famous and unique. I could listen to him announce anything’s. To each their own. I couldn’t stand the guy commentating with sid. He literally knew very little about pool and was wrong a bunch. You would think considering pool is not sids specialty they would give him a partner that knows something 🤷♂️. Guy couldn’t even explain why they used closed and open bridge
@@SoCaliSurfer13 I liked his energy when he cranked it up. But he seemed to have two volumes, very low and very high... You needed to either turn your hearing aid up or put on ear muffs! 😂
Fascinating safety battle on the 2 from 26:00 on (12 minutes!). Imagine if there was the shot clock, we wouldn't have had this beautiful battle. Fast play is not always the best show for the audience.
Excellent videos uploaded today, might watch them all, 1997 and the quality doesn't look like it was recorded on a potato, well done, exceptional quality👌👏 Thank you as always for sharing.
The mechanics and discipline of the American players is not what one would expect from Mosconi players. Ronnie was miles ahead of them in almost every aspect, minus the break. Considering that's not something snooker players ever need to practice.
The smaller/rounded pockets of Snooker, English 8-ball and Chinese 8-ball tables have forced players of those tables to develop better fundamentals/mechanics and more accurate potting. And Snooker to 9-ball is like Chess to Checkers. I like the square stance that Snooker players use. I recently switched to using a square stance, it helped improve my setup and stability with the cue action. I would like to try a Snooker or Chinese 8-ball type cue. Some of the players that have used both claim that a Snooker cue delivers a more accurate hit. With the way the butt end of the Snooker cue is designed, a consistent grip location is easily achieved. With an American cue, I am always turning the cue in my hand to try and find the same grip location.
It's amazing to see how different the stance and delivery is from Ronnie compared to the others. Pool players have a very loose stance and use 50 different bridges
3 Things you don't want to be: 1.) Playing snooker against Ronnie osullivan 2.) Playing against Ralf "slow" Souqet and falling asleep 3.)being the chewing gum of Nick Varner
Commentary at 29:00 in. Pool excellence and snooker tricks lol you got that the wrong way round. As a pool and snooker player watching these guys play is amazing but I am shocked at some of the American shot choices, for pro’s very poor.
@@sayeedafridi9747 No doubt. There were many shots that didn't look to have a chance at getting in the jaws, but actually went down. Like, "what?!". They had it a bit easier in those days. It's no wonder Ronnie went out and made it look like practice.
If it was a hairstyling competition, the yanks would win hands down. If they spent as much effort grooming their cue action as they obviously do grooming their hair, they would have more chance of winning.
I could literally watch any video as long as Sid Waddell was offering his commentary on it. What a true legend, and extremely missed.
Good to see some love for Sid, absolute Georgie legend, rip what a man

Would have been fun to hear him shoutcasting some League of Legends or FallGuys!?
It be great to see ronnie o'sullivan back in this event again
He wont play pool until the end of his carreer since there is no money in the game:(

*That Perky Blue !* 🥵🔵 ☑
It's good to see snooker players beating the American 9ball players at there own game..
Was good to see shaw absolutely destroy trump in this years us open too.
Also souquet is not a snooker player.
is that why they lost the cup?
Snooker players play 9ball for fun and they don't do too bad considering
It's okay. It's nice to take a break from the Philippinos destroying us. Lmao

Ronnie really is the rocket. Shoots so fast
OMGGGG THANKS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! More please :) From 1994, and rest of 95.96.97.98.99....... :DDDD Awesome!!!
Mosconi cup is played bi-annually...
@Pool Maniacs OH SHIT YOU RIGHT
I miss the old days when the fans had manners like they did during these matches.
YYYEEERRRRRRRRUUUUUUUUUUUUUP!
@@GearheadDaily I'm fond of the YYYOOOOOUUUUUSSUUUUUUCK taunt.

Thanks for the great flashback :) I'd have to say that the equipment sure has came a long way since then
Thanks for posting this frist time watching forgot how good Nick was back then...
A killer.

31:44. “You don’t get that reaction in snooker”. What a load of 💩. You get just as much reaction!
These announcers are paid to look foolish it seems.
He should watch Judd Trump
and he drew a curved line the muppet!
I tell you what a good pair-up would be. Ronnie O'Sullivan with the Toronto Tony Drago.
Both blisteringly fast players!
Varner doing his Ermintrude impression from magic roundabout. Chewing with his mouth open too! What a chav!
Well…he is from Kentucky
Is it just me experiencing sound dropouts on these uploads? Absolutely super videos apart from that.
Nick Varner game is just awesome:
12:46 tremor can be seen in Nick Varner's shooting hand as he shoots
I just saw that as well
That´s why you´re suppossed to have a drink before the match!
It's mad to think this was before osullivan even had 1 world snooker title.
Why Snooker players don’t take part to this event anymore? 😭… it was so great…!!!
Because it's become ridiculous
@@petermernagh9991 too sad…

Snooker player: why the hole big? so easy.
Wurde damals Aufnahmenwechsel gespielt?
Lag at 4:30
Wtf?it lags 😅
23:25 Why only O'Sullivan is playing? :|
Try some of those shots on my table lol.

I agree a lot of poor position play
Annoying when the volume turned down for no bloody reason
40:00 can't believe he didn't go for the 9
The scratch would have been hard to avoid.
Send the 3 into the nine !
Pierce goes up and down more often than Debbie does dallas
Too many ads
The Kaiser with a 'stach!
These dudes were juvenile, wow.
I didn't know Art Garfunkel played pool ? My bad nick
Can you imagine this inane commentary during a snooker game?
Goodness, these pockets are so big and the rails are so supportive.. Shows where pool has come today..
Yeah, those pockets were buckets back in the day.

Ralf is hot in this.
Could the European announcer be any louder or obnoxious gee wizz
I wonder of these Yanks knew they were watching the greatest player ever with a cue in his hand.
12:44 possibly the worst technique I have ever seen

Varner looks like willy wonka
Omfg ..spit that bloody gum out man.
Btw...isnt is disgusting how Varner „eat“ the gum? Ok, that has nothing to do with the game buts ugly

yep. EXTREMELY disgusting to act like that. Actions speak louder than words :-)
It’s a case of what he imagines makes him look cool when in fact it makes him look like a frickin chav!
Pls can someone tell the Canadian commentator how to pronounce snooker. Very ignorant and irritating the way he says it

I have a sneaky suspicion that Nick Varner is packing a baby arm.
