Sold! Bought one from samash last week and appreciate the work on this demo. So far the Helix LT is absolutely everything I’ve wanted from a virtual amp/effects unit! Sold my amps and satisfied for studio work 👍
I am selling all my heavy tube amps, guitars & boutique pedals as I am an old fucker and need something light to carry to gigs. Just bought a headless Strandberg guitar because of it's lightweight and now looking at pedalboards. Either Helix or Helix LT. Just out of curiosity, If you sold you amps, what are you using when playing live?
I think easily the coolest thing that has come out of modeling multi-fx like Helix is the flexibility of how settings can be changed. Can you imagine the work it would take to fade slowly from a clean, reverb-heavy sound to a fat, fuzzy tone, on a traditional pedalboard? It would be nearly impossible. With something like this, you can assign all those parameters to the same pedal and do it live, with one foot. Brilliant stuff. Honestly, the only thing keeping me from making the switch TODAY is the cost and the pain in the ass that will be selling a lot of my existing board.
In the past , I was never a Line 6 fan. But , with the Helix / Helix family. They've really stepped thing's up. I was at a Guitar Center recently. I was checking out the HX Stomp. Kind thinking of getting one of these. I have a helix rack for my studio use. The HX stomp for on the go, but want either thr helix floor or the lt for gigging.
Absolutely adored and loved this video on Helix Lt.... would love to see more videos on Helix lt may be Tone match setting for Artist patch leads fx etc Like john petrucci marco sfogli all modern players
But all these sounds. What is the best rock lead sound U have. You got a valve amp .with a slight dirty sound then put a revv g3 with a good reverb pedal and crank it. It's killer. So far you have not shown not one kick ass lead sound.but hay good video
Hi. I'm new to Helix LT and would be grateful for some help with how I could set up my Helix LT so that the XLR outs go to my two FRFR powered speakers and 1/4 mono out to the guitar input my Fender valve amp, where all effects plus amp/cab model etc go to the FRFR speakers but only effects go to the Fender amp preferably without using 4 cable method. So one path (to Fender amp) is like a chain of stomp boxes and the other path (XLR stereo outs) includes all effects plus model amp/cabs. Many thanks for any suggestions.
My amplifier (Peavey 6505+) has 3 channels and a two button footswitch which connects into the amp via a stereo 1/4" cable. Will the amp switcher on the Helix be able to switch both channels? Also, can you use the sends and returns to put effects before and after the amp (4 cable method) ?
Only if your amp has midi port, yes on send and returns. You could get a massive sound by going from helix to effects return of amp, watch your volume knob because you tapped into amp as power source only. Perfect
What's a better amp for getting signature tones like van halen. Eric Johnson. Zz top etc... the helix or kemper? I have a kemper but I'm struggling to find patches for tones like that but I see loads for the helix
Thanks for noticing! It was an oversight. It happens. We're working on setting up a bunch of cameras in a circle so we can get more dramatic paused shots...like in The Matrix.
Anyone here who can tell me about the Phones Out jack on combination sound in from computer via USB (Spotify/RUclips) to jam along to. I'm looking at both Helix LT and Helix (standard) and there is ONE thing that I can't find the answer to anywhere.. Can I change the volume on the "aux" sound from the computer SEPARATELY from the guitar volume in the Phones Out jack? Cheers in advance
I play guitar but i dont know anything what you guys are talking about back in the days how we do it is plug in our guitar to the amp and we are set .🤷🏼♂️
jeremy tak Jeremy. You can plug this in the back of your amp where it says return. Then that goes in the left input in the back of the helix. Plug your guitar into the front input of the helix and that’s it. You follow the giant cheat sheet they send. I agree. I like to plug straight in to my amp and use pedals.
ok , so how can you get 32 fx at the same time when there are only 8 switches , can you assign more than one fx to a single switch ??? for example , assign a phaser and flanger on the same switch ?
Absolutely. If you run the ext amp out into the footswitch port of an amp, you can control the channel switching on the amp, and use the helix effects, but still have the tone of your amp.
Sheharyar Mehmood a year late but re the dt25 amp there was an L6 simpler link they had for the hd300 making it simple. Then the Helix came out immediately after with no L6 link. Midi? Not interested.
If they could add a breakout box loop switcher with features like the The Gig Rig G2/RJM Mastermind PBC/Boss ES-8, etc as a simple way to add/include all your analog effects pedals and use this Helix gui interface to organise them as you like, it would be as close to perfect as you could get and if you need a bigger array of analog effects, make those breakout boxes daisychainable. Competition wise, I do like the touchscreen gui of the HeadRush, but their animated tiles look awful. I guess having proper photos and naming of effects may breach some copyrighting laws/intellectual properties.
Richard Williams If someone comes out with what you've described, I'll be the happiest gear nerd on the planet. I've been wanting a PBC + Helix rig for a while now but just can't justify that kind of expenditure. If the Helix 2.0 had all the features of the PBC built in, then I'd be able to explain why I need to spend almost $3k on a toy (I'm not a pro, that's for sure). Good thinking with this idea! Hey RJM, LINE 6, FRACTAL, everybody in the game right now...get on it!
I still think the RJM Mastermind PBC is the most powerful switcher with the setlist preset patch organisation, then the Boss ES-8 with all it's routing flexibility, The Gig Rig G2 wins on quick preset saving and hands on approach without diving through menus and has the adjustable pre and post gain which are handy.G-lab GSC-4 for it's screen/visual feedback. Source Audio Soleman is a good midi switcher but doesn't have the pedal patchbay inserts ins/outs loops
Richard Williams It just feels like there's no single perfect answer right now. I want all of the abovementioned features streamlined into one unit, along with Helix functionality, and because I'm crazy, a Torpedo Live or similar device. I think we're basically designing the perfect rig minus the amp here. Thanks for being on the same page, it's cool to see that someone else is into this stuff as much as I am.
Two Notes Torpedo Live seems to be in the rack on almost all the big RUclips guitar gear reviewers that demo in a studio setting. I would personally choose the Rivera MiniRockRec and Two Notes Torpedo CAB for myself, but I have no idea what these devices are like for people that need them for live use. Reamping I would love the Antelope Audio Zen Studio.
Suggestion, the host is there at the start, says ‘take it away, line 6 rep,” let’s the guy alone to do the demo. Done, and video probably 20% quicker and streamlined. Chatter bogs it down, though it’s a good vid and I’m here a second time...think I’ll invent a tiny speaker thingy you put on a table and turn it on and intermittently it says ‘cool’, ‘nice’, ‘awesome’.
So the delay trails keep going if you change A>B IN THE SAME PRESET? Well done, you've caught up to the 1990's.... The Kemper does this if you change from ANY patch to ANY other patch, without having to pre-program it.
why should i spend so much money just to use it for delay and reverb? This will never beat a tube driven spring reverb plus a good delay pedal will sound better. Also my tube amps dont have effect loops. This does not sound like a proper valve amp. For me the Helix can be useful as a practice tool or to jam using headphones.
if your amp has a speaker output, a Fryette Power Station may be your answer to add an fx loop and it also has a tube power amp section & attuenator or alternately the Bad Cat Unleash v2 but that has a solid state power amp instead of tubes but adds headphone output, silent mode and different form factor that looks like an old school power transformer
if you get something like the Fryette or Bad Cat, you could then use a pedal loop switcher if you have a decent collection of pedals and get the added advantage of programming your preset patches, mixing analog pedals with digital like functionality
As usual, the high frequencies are overly forward and pronounced - sometimes to the point of harshness. Not sure why this isn't noticed and dialed down. Not sure if it can be dialed out entirely, but I've tested the original Helix routed into the effect return of an amp and have had far better results. My complaint is that many demos don't have this compensated for. Until this is realized and factored into the amp models, I will stick to analog. I can use modeling for digital only, but not for amp drive tones.
Good overview by Line6 guy... just get rid of the SAM parrot on the left going left going, right nice, super quick and easy... look off screen to the left + scratch himself... kind of annoying and very distractive!
Ah F it...I'm just going to stick with my Tube amp...when you think about it there are really only TWO sounds...Clean and dirty. Everything else is just a variation. But you really don't need all that stuff. Although I'll admit it is cool.
Gone are the good ole days when you could plug into a few pedals and a amp/cab and you have a great tone, nowadays you need a degree in tech to be able to work up a good/so-so tone and even then what you spent hours working on when you come back the next day, well, they don't seem to sound so great, I know I've been there. But on the up side once the unit crash's, and it will crash, you get to pull your hair out trying to restore what you lost, been there too. tx Line 6
Sonny 6String I can use it but it sounds meh. I love my tube amps and dirt, fuzz and overdrive pedals. This only feels and sounds ok when you add your own pedal in the loop in front of an amp block. They make it so you need a computer and interface, daw, protools. Make it easy. And it still sounds not that great. Plus, anyone whose selling off a great tube amp for this and their pedals ... crazy.
I find modelers over complicated there is no need for thousands of presets and lots of Amps and even worse they are trying to mimic the tube Amp it just seems a waste of technology what would be interesting is if they produced a multi effect unit with tubes and just had three or maybe four Channels plus the effects processor that's within these things Would be a winner !!!!!!
Steven Louth check out the Yamaha 100hd. Simple. Plug it into guitar cabinet and that’s it. And Yamaha bought line6 but so simple. Sounds and feels better. No complicated menus.
Again, no mention of the horrendous latency between preset switching. If line 6 can fix that, I'll buy one, but until then this would be useless to me as a live rig. Feel free to correct me if I'm wrong, but please don't start going on about the snapshot feature, it's not the same thing.
Good luck with that. Every digital unit has it. And the snapshot is actually the answer, as you can set up massive rigs on a single preset so using the A/B functionality should work nicely.
I'm sorry but you are wrong on that. How many digital units have you used exactly? I've used some Peavey, early DigiTech GSP 21 Pro, Yamaha, they did have latency issues but, I've also used Roland units, no gaps between preset changes, POD HD500X , no gaps. I'm currently using a DigiTech GSP1101, and guess what, no gaps between patch changes.
Every digital unit has latency! Some more than others. The POD HD500X has quite a noticeable latency, if you complain about the Helix latency. BUT, the thing is that these high end units, ironically, have a longer latency, as theyre processing bigger and more quality chains & parameters (Talking about preset changes, not snapshots). The Ax8 has quite a latency too, but has less DSP capability, so smaller chains. As i told you: Program your "patches" as snapshots. You can add many chains on a single preset. Whats the deal with you not wanting to use snapshots? Thats basically the solution without latency as it is shown here. Its the same as changing presets in your HD500 or GSP, but with less latency. It seems to me that youre not aware of the capabilities of these units, but are comparing it to your lower end digital units.
Guitar1969. Thanks. The Amplifier 12 is most definitely on my radar. There's always something though, like no intelligent pitch shifting, an no expression pedal. Going to wait until the Headrush Pedalboard gets some reviews as well.
Sam Ash dude is the most ANNOYING 'interviewer"... trying to sound knowledgeable by overstating the obvious or saying absolutely nothing with as many words as he possibly can....
Why would I want more than Katana 55 presets at $300! Its what sounds good like Scuffham S gear for DAWs not the quantity of amps, fx and cabs. This thing is over engineered in some ways and under engineered in others just like all these modelling pedals! Why pay over $1000
@@user-lj3tg4nk3e In YOUR "real life" perhaps.... some of us are gigging with several bands, doing lots of studio work, and need the flexibility of being able to dial up a very specific sound easily and without carrying around a truckload of gear. It may not make sense for YOU, but for some, it's ideal.
The chassis is cheap dog shit... And got rid of the scribble strips fuck that... I'd rather have a stomp that is built better than the LT. LT is just a cheap PoS. And another reason for them to jack up the price of the Helix Floor. They got greedy... I'd rather just get an AXE FX at this point.
A Fox ive been using an m13 stomobox for years. Its compact and has more effects than any practical player would ever put on a pedal board. The effects sound great too. I dont like line 6 amps but i do love the stompbox. Still sounds modern and not outdated.
The irony of course is that it is VALVE AMPS WHICH are becoming absolute. Tubes have become obsolete in every tech industry, except the amp industry. The time WILL come when guitar amp companies move away from tube technology. They're already becoming more expensive every year, and hardly anyone even makes the actual tubes anymore. Not to mention that governments are more and more against the kind of energy inefficiency of products like valve powered tech. Light bulbs for example.
Third party IRs save this product, for me. Day/night difference, and put it on the level of the ax8, sound wise. Also, the micing in this video is poor. Everything echoes. Doesn't really do the Helix justice.
STRATMAN firdaus I know... Doesn't change a thing for my views on line six. Maybe they'll turn out being good products now but until that is clear I'll stay away from them
NizVania Yamaha makes a great modeler the 100hd. But people like the bright lights of the Helix and the 100s of fx that it comes with. I’m a clean, crunch, high gain player so I’m ok without having lots of FX.
All that reverb, delay and stereo shit, takes away from what is really important and always a problem with modeling, which is the drive or distortion sound.

Lol I thought he was strung out, 21.00 and on, Something odd there, sorry Dave,
Ah F it...I'm just going to stick with my Tube amp...when you think about it there are really only TWO sounds...Clean and dirty. Everything else is just a variation. But you really don't need all that stuff. Although I'll admit it is cool.
Guitar1969 can’t take ambient. Sorry.
But on the up side once the unit crash's, and it will crash, you get to pull your hair out trying to restore what you lost, been there too. tx Line 6
ok boomer
GuitarGodsUnite 😃
GuitarGodsUnite that’s getting old.
Plus, anyone whose selling off a great tube amp for this and their pedals ... crazy.
So complicated
Easy!?
I find modelers over complicated there is no need for thousands of presets and lots of Amps and even worse they are trying to mimic the tube Amp it just seems a waste of technology what would be interesting is if they produced a multi effect unit with tubes and just had three or maybe four Channels plus the effects processor that's within these things
Would be a winner !!!!!!
Look at hx effects
Steven Louth check out the Yamaha 100hd. Simple. Plug it into guitar cabinet and that’s it. And Yamaha bought line6 but so simple. Sounds and feels better. No complicated menus.
Again, no mention of the horrendous latency between preset switching. If line 6 can fix that, I'll buy one, but until then this would be useless to me as a live rig. Feel free to correct me if I'm wrong, but please don't start going on about the snapshot feature, it's not the same thing.
Have you tried the Snapshot feature?
Seriously now. Snapshots ARE the answer. (for now)
Good luck with that.
Going to wait until the Headrush Pedalboard gets some reviews as well.
that's a very loud testosterone voice ! 😂
to much is to bad
Dumb
turn knobing is the future guys !!
shit sound but nice screen !!
Sam Ash dude is the most ANNOYING 'interviewer"... trying to sound knowledgeable by overstating the obvious or saying absolutely nothing with as many words as he possibly can....
Uh-huh? Ok? Yeah! Wow! Oh cool!
Maybe you should be the interviewer, genius!
Why would I want more than Katana 55 presets at $300! Its what sounds good like Scuffham S gear for DAWs not the quantity of amps, fx and cabs. This thing is over engineered in some ways and under engineered in others just like all these modelling pedals! Why pay over $1000
Good point. You can only have so many presets on a guitar that sound good. 1024 presets sounds impressive, but is pretty much worthless in real life.
Everything Line 6 has made or will make goes obsolete. Buy a good valve amp and some good pedels and you will always have a use for it.
A Fox ive been using an m13 stomobox for years. Its compact and has more effects than any practical player would ever put on a pedal board. The effects sound great too. I dont like line 6 amps but i do love the stompbox. Still sounds modern and not outdated.
A Fox, the irony in that statement.
and buy a roadie to go with it , and a chiropractor
The irony of course is that it is VALVE AMPS WHICH are becoming absolute. Tubes have become obsolete in every tech industry, except the amp industry. The time WILL come when guitar amp companies move away from tube technology. They're already becoming more expensive every year, and hardly anyone even makes the actual tubes anymore. Not to mention that governments are more and more against the kind of energy inefficiency of products like valve powered tech. Light bulbs for example.
Oh brother, there always needs to be at least one guy threatened by modelers in these comment sections lol.
$1200 USD. That's hideously expensive.
Always the same bullshit of the ultimate modeling teK blablabla !!!!
...im done with the Line6 fake myth...
just get on with the demo why so much bloody chatter
Host needs to talk less.
Fractal Ax8 is so much better concerning sound and credibility
Then go play with your gameboy through armpits!
Especially if you are stuck with one.
It's almost double the price, what do you expect?
Third party IRs save this product, for me. Day/night difference, and put it on the level of the ax8, sound wise.
Also, the micing in this video is poor. Everything echoes. Doesn't really do the Helix justice.
Josh Mitchneck
Do you have to pay for the third party IRs your talking about?
Too much ego talking not enough tutorials ffs
As cool as it looks it is still Line 6 and that's why I can't trust it...
Actually Line6 is owned by Yamaha now
STRATMAN firdaus I know... Doesn't change a thing for my views on line six. Maybe they'll turn out being good products now but until that is clear I'll stay away from them
Alright
NizVania Yamaha makes a great modeler the 100hd. But people like the bright lights of the Helix and the 100s of fx that it comes with. I’m a clean, crunch, high gain player so I’m ok without having lots of FX.
All that reverb, delay and stereo shit, takes away from what is really important and always a problem with modeling, which is the drive or distortion sound.
Bla bla bla bla bla bla bla
is that a game console?
like guitare hero for PlayStation ?
no ?
oh OK it's a game knob !
no?
👉Robert !! are you ready ??
