Hi There. Great Video. But in the real world, whilst you are 100% correct, more often than not the new socket (to add) will not be recognized. I stopped using these sockets a few years ago now. I check them every now and again (I have 9 useless sockets) and I can never get a socket to add. Your video is correct. It's just a thing with smart plugs, they are so unreliable.
sorry to hear that. I may be lucky, my plugs have been working now for almost 2 years. I did get 1 failure the other day on a power monitoring smart plug. All the smart part of the plugs works but when I switch it off, the power light goes off but power still flows through the plug. You have paired your plug before, so I am sure you know this but just in case, make sure your phone is connected to the same wifi as the plus and they are of 2.4Ghz. Otherwise, they wouldn't add or check if the plugs are compatible with the App you are using. Good luck
@@stevendigitalbutler Hi Digital Butler, Thank you for your reply. Since I posted my reply to you, I found a solution. Basically, the same set up, but the only difference. Put one's mobile phone on Airplane lock. Add device / select the BLE socket and continue. I had 5 sockets working within 10 minutes. Take Care.
Good to know that those plugs are not wasted and can be put into good use. You are lucky that your plugs have a BLE option, most plugs I know doesn't come with BLE. Thanks for sharing.
Hi Kevin, no gateway required. Just Smartphone or Tablet with the free app and 2.4 Ghz Wifi. Have a look at the video - timeline: "02:34 Thing to know before you start."
@@stevenwpo Thanks! You are right, no gateway is required. It is now working well when I bought the smart plug from another seller. The first seller I bought has sent me a faulty smart plug. This is the reason why I was searching for answers. Thanks bro. You are very well informed. I have subscribed to your channel.
Hi, will need more information to try to see how I can help but if you have ther correct app and you are using Wifi devices, the most common reason for not able to pair would be that your device is not connected to a 2.4 Ghz Wifi.
I am assuming that you will get a new WiFi router from the new provider. If that is so, as long as you use the same password and SSID to access your router, you will not need to reset the Smart Life App. It should work as though nothing has happened. Give it a try and let me know how it goes. Good luck
This particular plug is rated for 10 Amp which I think it is too low for Air-con. There are others that is rated for higher Amp. Check your air-con manual and see what is the requirement and get 1 that can handle the load but I would stay away from using smart plugs. If you have a split air-con, usually that comes with a remote and in such cases I will get a universal IR blaster to switch ON/OFF the air-con that way
Nice video but major problem: Absoutely impossible to pair TWO Tuya Smart Socket (Model/serial 202012001), WiFi 2,4 ok, WiFi name and password correct, using Smart Life, the switch flashes blue quickly but no pairing. Is the cause because smartswitches purchased via AliExpress and my SmartLife is downloaded from France ?? Any solution? Thanks for fine video.
Hi, you seem to have all the required elements for a successful pairing, I can't see anything wrong from your description above. You mentioned you cannot pair 2 for the smart plus, does it mean you have 1 working and cannot pair a second? if that is the case, could the second smart plug be faulty? The only way to test (which I know) is to unpair the 1st smart plug. Then try pairing the second smart plug, 1st and see if it will pair. If it does not then it is a high chance that the 2nd smart plug is faulty. I don't think it is the App, as Smartlife App is for the international market. Do let me know how it goes. Good Luck
@mrmenace, this is exactly what is happening to me. Unlike what @stevendigitalbutler said, I am connecting to 2.4GHz WiFi. It is a WPA2-PSK and AES encryption, suggested by Tuya. I am using Honor Magic 5 Pro. I even return it back to the seller before. They tested it, it worked, and then ship it back to me. All the seller's video are using iPhone. Any update from you, @mrmenace?
thanks for the feedback, will try to do without music on my next video. As for turning on lights after sunset, go to the Scene>Automation tab. then the "+" icon at top right. Select"When weather changes">Sunset/sunrise>Sunset> then select the timing you prefer>save. Then "Next". In the "Then" section click on the "+" icon and select the device(s) you want to activate. If you have many lights to switch on, I suggest you make a group 1st and then just activate the group. Hope this helps
These are Wifi Smart Plugs and you will need Wifi to pair & use them with the App. If your Wifi is down, they will not work via the App but you can still manually switch them ON/OFF using the button on the side. There are some smart plug that will allow you to control the plug via Bluetooth if your Wifi is down but to pair it initially, you will need Wifi to access the cloud services. I personally, do not know if there is a Bluetooth only smart plug and if there is, then most likely you cannot control plug if you are not near the plug unlike the Wifi version.
Thank you for your feedback. Unfortunately, for this video, the music is part of the audio track. I will either find a more suitable track fro my next video or maybe just do without music. I appreciate you feedback. Have a nice day.
I bought GIVEnergy smart plugs from MIDSummer online but I can’t get the smart plug using the GIVEnergy app to allow me to input my tariff information. Although, I can connect using the GIVEnergy app my smart plug to my phone, to switch the device on/off, but when I look on the GIVEnergy app it says unable to retrieve your data. Please unlock your smart plug and try again or contact the supplier. Frustrating! I emailed GIVEnergy yesterday evening, after calling them about this problem, but I’m still waiting for a reply. Maybe, because I’m with Shell energy and not with Octopus or another supplier GIVEnergy supports is why I can’t retrieve my data? Or maybe I can connect it fully by using the SMARTLIFE app instead?
Hi LG, I am not familiar with GIVEnergy app or devices, but in general, smart plugs comes in 2 variant: 1 with power monitoring and the other is without. You need to fine out if your plugs has the power monitoring capability. If no, then you can't get those data. Connecting to SMARTLIFE app: you will need to find out if your devices is SMARTLIFE app compatible. if it is, then you can try connecting to the SMARTLIFE app and see if you can find the info you need. Usually, brand with their own app is not. Sorry couldn't be much more help to you. Good luck in you quest. If you find a solution, please share it with us.

Excellent video, thx …😃

What happens when electricity is out?
Does it reset and work normally or needs reconfiguration?
Normally, no re-pairing is required when your power return
Once your power return, your plug should automatically connect back to the internet and all your automation should work as before
Do we need a gateway for this to work?
