  • Josh Pond in Whiting, Maine, handpicks 2,000 pounds of blueberries a day and packs 30,000 pounds per season. Every day during harvest season, from mid-August to mid-September, the berries are gently raked by hand to preserve their natural form. After the berries are lifted off their bushes, they are packed and frozen within 24 hours of leaving the field, ensuring high-quality flavor and peak nutrition.

You take them. Too slow to pick by hand. Also, they might fall to the ground. You are trying to take as many as possible to make more money. The more boxes you fill the more pay you make. Seasonal field work. Very hard work and you can't fill your rake too full or you will smash the berries. You take in long narrow rows.

If it was 100% safe to touch the blueberries with hands, they would STILL do it this way. Its faster and more efficient. This is "handpicked" by a stretch of the imagination. Larger machinery would damage the bushes, thats why its done this way, otherwise theyd be using even bigger and more efficient machines.

Can you make a video of animal control? You know there are bears and deer and all types of critters taking their yield. How do they prevent it?

Whenever I feel like I'm getting sick I get Orange juice with a lot of pulp, blueberries, and blackberries. I eat and drink as much as I can. The next day I feel fine. Been working for me for 15 years now.
