- Josh Pond in Whiting, Maine, handpicks 2,000 pounds of blueberries a day and packs 30,000 pounds per season. Every day during harvest season, from mid-August to mid-September, the berries are gently raked by hand to preserve their natural form. After the berries are lifted off their bushes, they are packed and frozen within 24 hours of leaving the field, ensuring high-quality flavor and peak nutrition.

Did we just watch an ad?
Lmfao same thought
yes.
No. Try learning something new.
yes!
Yup
The blueberries look so good and the way they pick them is satisfying
thanks cat killua

You
Wild BLUEBERRIES we have these in canada
0:42 that was surprisingly really satisfying. Who knew fruit packed in neat, clean boxes like that would look so presentable
Imagine all the time and effort saved by using a tool like that. Very impressive 👏🏽
U-pick gonna get cleaned out next year lol
@@JD-hi8qx This type of tool is nothing new! I don't know the rules for the U-pick place you mean but normally you pay for what you pick, not the time... So sure you will be able to pick more but that is what they want since you pay by the weight...
yeah you know the first couples season you have that made like eff picking all these
How is it handpicked if they're using a tool?
Surely this is manually picked.
@@idiotbuster8662 What are they using to hold the tool?
Thanks Food Insider! We're glad your find our hand-harvesting process as satisfying as we do.
Nice I rarely see the companies involved in the videos comment, then again I'm new to food insider. I'm usually on business insider. Btw blueberries are favorite berries.
"Look at this farm hand-picking berries!!"
0:38 "The berries are never touched by human hands"
*Press X to Doubt*
The hand stirred cheese is phenomenal, the way they switch on the electrical wisk is amazing
Why isn't it alt+f4

Blueberries are so delicious! Love blueberry pancakes and muffins 😜
Yum ! :D
I love them in my porridge 😘
Blueberry smoothies
I love blueberry cheesecake waffles
Eating them plain is the best though.
0:13 my mom told me to go to the basement because she thought there was a tornado
Lmao
Lol
No she didn’t that’s obviously a lie
@@lkb08 It is funny though
Harvesting blueberries with that tool looks so satisfying ☺️
You need a good back.
It does
Yeahhh
we do pick them by hand - and although slow , the quality is unparalleled ......greetings from South Africa !
I've actually had the privilege to do this visiting my family in Maine yrs ago, me and my 2 daughters got to do this, I saw how it was processed then my grandmother made the best 3 beautiful blueberry pies!!! What a treat, to think we picked them in person then walla a pie 🥧
Can someone please explain why hand picked blueberries are also “never touched by hands”
I was about to make the same comment. Those aren't handpicked.
No actually they are - you saw the man with the picker in his hand right? Blueberries are too small and delicate to be picked by fingers.
Because he's not using a machine to do the work. His hands are powering the comb
You take them. Too slow to pick by hand. Also, they might fall to the ground. You are trying to take as many as possible to make more money. The more boxes you fill the more pay you make. Seasonal field work. Very hard work and you can't fill your rake too full or you will smash the berries. You take in long narrow rows.
You Rake them
titile:handpicked but the berry never touched by hand! im confuse
Me too
they pick with the rake but never touch skin due to virus
Bruh how is this confusing. They are not directly touching it but it’s made with close human labor and it’s essentially handpicked. The only reason why it’s not is because they want to maintain safety precautions for their consumers. It’s not that hard -_-
@@imtired6614 Then that isn't exactly "hand picked" by definition..
@@imtired6614 "The only reason why it’s not is because they want to maintain safety precautions for their consumers." LOL Please. If it was 100% safe to touch the blueberries with hands, they would STILL do it this way. Its faster and more efficient. This is "handpicked" by a stretch of the imagination. Larger machinery would damage the bushes, thats why its done this way, otherwise theyd be using even bigger and more efficient machines.
So BEAUTIFUL! What a rich harvest. Blueberries 🫐 are indigenous to Canada
Simple and super functional technology. I love blueberry. Congratulations on the harvest.
When we vacationed in Wisconsin they had cranberry bogs nearby. They were known to be patronized by bears. I wonder if there's any bears that invade those blueberry fields? Everybody I've known that grew blueberry's for resale had to cover them with nets to keep the birds away.
Wow that's a lot of blueberries! I used to pick them as a kid!! Amazing so much food for everyone ...
Respect, that’s a lot of work
Bruh u r every where
This guys literally everywhere
I Love the gardener work and farming works totally amazing away of the complicated and materialistic life..I wish after retired from my job I will go back to live farmer life in my field and my animals 👍🤍

When food is still picked by hand, it makes it all the more special💜
To delicate to actually pick by ✋,, Thanks for uploading.

One of my favorite fruit and looking at this makes it so so satisfying
Do you like raspberries? What kind?
@@hel_3358 Your stupidity is astounding
That combing tool to harvest the Blueberries is the Real MVP of this Farm.
Wow cool!! I do enjoy blueberries. My favorite:. Keep them frozen and mix them with frozen whipped cream!! 😍. Tastes like a yummy keto ice cream.
In Scandinavian countries, blueberries grow in wild, free of cost and much more tastier and healthier.
ok
Affirmative, the flavour of north European blueberries (forest berries, bilberries) is different from American blueberries, particularly the cultivated ones, and in my opinion ... with both the complexity and the intensity which can't be matched by ... ANY BERRIES.🍓. Supermarkets blueberries are still good and healthy substitute...for the real thing 😋
@managerial conclusionsOhhh, I am in doubt now. I hope, I will taste them 😏
American non wild blueberries are high bush but these are low bush wild blueberries they are smaller and taste better and native to Maine.
Mainer here. I guess I took blueberries for granted because I thought everywhere has them!
My dad used to pick blueberries up in Blue Hill, Maine
Omg, this reminded me of my trauma with blueberries 😂 I volunteer at a food bank and there was a week where we had so many crates of loose blueberries, and because we take food that is close to the use by/ best before date to reduce food waste, we can get some spoiled stock and I had to pick out all the bad blueberries and bag them all up. It was a nightmare 😵
🤮🤮🤮🤮so sorry
Oh Charlie, but it's a funny and relatable story :D did you recover though?
@@jasonbristow I don't think I ever could nor will I be able to, they haunt my dreams 🤣
@@charliemycroft1491 one day you will, I believe in you! Also great of you to help at the food bank! 😄
@@jasonbristow Thank you, I've always thought it's good to give back to those in need. Especially during the pandemic, it's helped so many families and I'm so glad to be apart of that
I'm Finnish and I took those harvesting tool thingies for granted, since everyone here uses them when harvesting berries, until I read these comments and see so many people be in awe of the tool.
What an amazing invention!!! That picker is worth its weight in gold!!!
nah, it damages the bushes, and if done on a public property, it's illegal because of the damaged bushes
That is so fantastic. Always wondered how they were picked.
This isn’t really how they’re usually picked. In Oregon they are either literally picked by hand or by a machine
I like picking them by hand. It's so relaxing.
I love blueberries they are lucky because when they pick em they can secretly eat a few or even more!!!♡♡♡♡
I want one of those devices for my back yard.
That’s best way to picking the blueberries 👍👍👍👏👏👏🤩💕
title: "handpicked"
video: "never touched by hands :)"
Lindo!!!! A natureza é maravilhosa!!
Si e ka emrin makineria dhe ku mundemi ta blejme??
Now I want that rake. And I don't even go for a walk LOL
Wow!!
Very nice tool!
is that something new?
never seen one like that.
The environment is so beautiful
I just happened to watch the episode he did with Mike Rowe and Dirty Jobs. Great farm awesome family!
I love blueberries fruit, they're so tasty with Kelloggs cereals and milk in the morning.
Wild low bush are the best...nothing else tastes like them.
Great for baking
Very satisfying to watch ❤! I love blueberries it’s one of my favourite fruit 🤩!
Wooooooow nunca había visto una recolección de frutos así, me preguntaba como lo hacían
This is so satisfying.
Wow... awesome garden :) I like the gadgets!
Learn something new everyday, never even thought about how blueberries were picked.
The correct term is 'raked' blueberries, not hand picked. I spent several summers raking blueberries when I was 10--12 to earn money to buy school clothes. This was over sixty years ago. It was back breaking work!
Mainer here. Blueberries are picked everyday... for about week in august. Then its over! But man the smell of a blueberry field in august is fantastic! I live across from one
This is so awesome. Great tool yo use
Amazing, takes me ages to pick them by hand!
this is why engineers and inventors are the most intelligent
anyone can learn the material or tool of the inventor but not everyone can invent
Now this was heavenly
What a great idea to picking the blue berries with that tool 👍👏
Fun fact: here in Europe ( namely Poland, Czech republic and Germany i believe) are these types of rakes banned for harvesting wild blueberries because they damage and impede their growth and you could uproot entire bush. Also wild blueberry is protected species here. (Excuse my bad english please)
Low bush are low yielding but way tastier and healthier than common high bush.
High bush berries are white or green inside from being crossed with currants. Wild low bush are purple inside and stain your mouth and hands instantly!
Pls show how blue berries are grown from cuttings or seeds n from where do we get the seeds
these are high bush blueberries, now low (wild) which are so sweet and delicious....... prefer wild blueberries....
que belleza de un milagro de la naturaleza🙏🏻😇
Bucket list goal acquired
That tool is amazing!
Blueberries are delicious and healthy snack!
Какая красота,а у нас высоко в горах растёт черника!!
В комментах пишут, что эта штука портит черничник и ягод будет гораздо меньше
الله شكد حلو شكله ولونه .. اتمنى اتذوق طعمه .
great way to COMB the bushes!
Di hutan kalimantan Indonesia blueberry ini tumbuh liar... Manis seger rasa buah nya
I had no idea that that is how they are harvested. Also, this is so expensive from where I live, you are lucky.
Amazing...keep it up mister 😏👍

Blueberries are Excellent for eyesight. If you have eye floaters then try blueberry with Eyebright and milk thistle extract. Good luck
It's blueberry season here in Florida right now!

I live in NC. We have bushes and pick them by hand. It's hard work. We give most of them away.
Omgggg that looks so gooood.
Wow, i wish to see a big blue berry farm.
Now I know how blueberries grow
It’s so beautiful there. I’d love to see that and pick some blueberries 💙
My favourite fruit those one are so Big 😋😋😋😋thanks for vidéos grettings 🇧🇪
I picked blueberries in Oregon during the summers in the 90s. I would’ve gotten fired for using that tool. It completely strips the bush. The whole point of handpicking was so that we only picked that which was ripe and left behind the clusters that were still red or green for later pickings.
Magnífico 👏👏👏😊
Woah. That place is beautiful. Imagine living there.
Me thinking absolutely nothing
RUclips: this how your blueberries are picked....
Fact about blueberries:
They're called blueberries
They bleed purple
If you peel them, it's green
The first time I saw the inside of a blueberry, I was so confused...
and that variety tastes nothing like blueberries, more like grapes.
Nice ad.
"Farm hand picks 2k berries!"
"The berries are never touched by hand!"
Ребята удачи и хороших урожаев .
I can't wait to have enough blueberry plants to need one of those rake things.
Hello Lisa

Can you make a video of animal control? You know there are bears and deer and all types of critters taking their yield. How do they prevent it?
At our farm the blueberries don’t ripen at the same time on the bush so how did you know when to harvest them
This is how they used to make “gummy berry juice” 💪🏾
Whenever I feel like I'm getting sick I get Orange juice with a lot of pulp, blueberries, and blackberries. I eat and drink as much as I can. The next day I feel fine. Been working for me for 15 years now.
So cool 😎👍 yummy blueberries
