After School is a South Korean girl group formed by Pledis Entertainment in 2009.
Debuting initially in January 2009 as a 5-member group with "AH", they were labeled the Korean Pussycat Dolls for their mature and sexy concept. Later in April 2009, After School released their first digital single "Diva" and introduced their newest member, U-ie, following their admission/graduation concept. Then, in November 2009, original member Yoo Soyoung departed from the group citing health and study reasons. At the end of the same month, After School admitted two new members, Raina and Nana, into the group for their 2nd single "Because of You". Then shortly in March 2010, After School returned for their 3rd single "Bang!", admitting new member Lizzy. In the summer of 2010, After School created its first subgroup, Orange Caramel, a cute 3 member group consisting of After School's youngest members: Raina, Nana, and Lizzy. Orange Caramel released their first mini album with the title track "Magic Girl". Later in Fall 2010, Orange Caramel made a comeback with their second mini album with their title track "Aing♡". Then, After School made a comeback as a whole (without Bekah) for the winter, promoting their single "Love Love Love" for their "Happy Pledis" project. After School then announced their Japanese expansion and paired with Namie Amuro for the hit song, "Make it Happen" in February 2010 which generated much interest from the Japanese communities. Orange Caramel then returned to the scene on April 2011, initiating their "One Asia Project" with their single, "Bangkok City", where they inherited a chic, fierce concept, yet retaining their individual sound. Then, After School made its long-awaited comeback on April 2011 with their first album "Virgin" with their title track "Shampoo", and admitted their newest member, E-Young. After their promotions, Bekah announced her departure from After School and became After School's first graduate, graduating in July 2011 through the group's fan meeting. In mid-July 2011, After School then created two additional subgroups, After School Red and After School Blue, which both released singles at the same time. After School Red consisted of the members Kahi, Jung-A, U-ie, and Nana, taking on After School's original sexy and fierce concept with their title track, "Into the Night Sky". After School Blue consisted of the members Juyeon, Raina, Lizzy, and E-YOUNG, taking on an innocent, cute concept with their title track, "Wonder Boy". After their subgroup promotions, After School began its Japan promotions with their first Japanese single, "Bang!". On October 2011, Orange Caramel made a comeback, continuing their "One Asia Project" with their new single, "Shanghai Romance". Later that month, After School released their newest Japanese single "Diva" and began sales in mid-November. In December, the second "Happy Pledis" mini album was created with the title track, "Love Letter". They announce their 3rd Japanese single, "Rambling Girls", which they will release in January 2012 with the Japanese version of "Because of You". Later in March 2012, After School released their first Japanese album, entitled "Playgirlz", featuring several new tracks including their previous Japanese singles and the Japanese versions of "Shampoo" and Orange Caramel's "Shanghai Romance". Then, "Lady Luck / Dilly Dally" was released in June.

They're quite confusing with their recent promotions (Japan & Flashback) for newer fans because all of them have a long hair and are dyed either brown or blond. During Shampoo and previous promotions they're easier to distinguish :P

The only music video i see where E-Young gets a lot of screen time which is soooo good! Even though she has little lines she still got screen time. Everyone in this music video got good screen time (though UEE got most haha) the Korean cameraman producing these MVs should learn from the Japanese just saying. But it's too late now ofc... :(

these are two lies in one sentence. the first After School member who left the group was not Bekah, but Soyeong, at some time in 2009, after the Amoled commercial video had been released. Bekah did not "graduate", but was fired by the company, under the outward pretext of her being too fat. another reason was that she did not comply with company "rules". why Soyeong so suddenly quit at the same time when Raina and Nana were added remains to be investigated. given that she also was not the slimmest, it is likely that somewhere in the management some decisions were made to change te image of the group.
Don't spread stupid rumors they already knew graduation system when they formed the group. Soyoung was most popular member at that time and she also wasn't fat or smth The company added Uie before Nana and Raina. We all know Uie wasn't slim and Nana is a trainee for a year so what investigation? Btw Soyoung and Bekah are still in contact with the company, CEO and members.
Bekah visits Pledis every year and she still wants to design an After School album. She has a rap part in Kahi's album.
"I like the boss a lot. I never got into any arguments. We ended on good terms; they threw me a party." -from Bekah' interview at KCON 2013.
if you don't know After School members choose the new member between trainees. The company doesn't push a new member to them. Pledis management has problems about promotions and marketing but their treatments are so good.
AjaAS not a rumor its a fact, this how they hide anomaly, bekah post on her instagram at some time, but deleted due to unknown reasons, maybe the company apologize on her.
they didnt know Graduation system before they are formed as a group, Graduation system just started after uie added on the group, they announced it after "ah" era. then soyoung withrawal to the company, then bekah's departure from the group before their first japanese album also didnt approve bekah for japanese debut due to physical standards they want slim members,
and bekah visits her friends in korea not the company. bekah being featured on kahi's album was kahi's request from the company. kahi's departure from the group has also hidden anomaly. Company Reasons are she's too old for the group to stay, kahi then being emotional so the company promised her to debut solo, after that? the company didnt renew her contract leaving her maybe because of financial status, no one knows, this breaks my heart i Love Bekah and Kahi so much.
Every member in After School knew about the graduation system since debut; and I'm pretty sure that the system was inducted by Kahi herself. Kahi created After School and I do remember her talking in an interview or AS show that the purpose of this graduation system is to keep the group fresh. All members knew that they would graduate. I don't even want to get into Bekah's graduation, she's doing well and is happy so that's all that matters.
However, Kahi's graduation was inevitable. She had to graduate even she knew this. Kahi was the pinnacle of After School but she needed to graduate so that AS can become a group that doesn't rely on her skills all the time. All member knows that they will graduate from AS.
And btw, SoYoung left because she saw an opportunity and she grabbed it. She knew that she was going to graduate from AS so when the opportunity for her to become an actor arises, she took it and left/graduate from AS. It benefits her in the long run.
+TeiouRenato the "graduation system" is also a lie. on the stage it was announced that Soyeong would "graduate" she cried bitterly.
it's a fact that after school is based on the japanese girlgroup morning musume. ( they even did a cover for their song once ) the group has had the graduation concept since sometime around 1999. which means that after school was well aware of the concept of their group when debuting.
wanting to leave the group or not, it's a sad moment for them all, of course she would cry.
if soyoung and bekah was excluded from the group because they were "bigger/fat" then they would never have been added to the group from the beginning.

Now, I see that, if they did cute concept, then why didn't they give more seconds of camera to the experts of that concept? I mean, Raina and Nana...Lizzy and E-young *could* be, but....
I and a lot of other fans found Dilly Dally better. Lady Luck is still a good song and I do listen to it from time to time. It was just not really a song that should have been given to After School. But I will still suppourt the song anyways and I hope it will get a lot more views.

It's really weird for AFTERSCHOOL to try cute concept ~ Especially Kahi, Jooyeon, Jungah (totally can see her unsatisfied reaction, forcing), and Nana. I just love to see Jooyeon in white dress outfit ~ Hmm, usually cute outfit fits with some of the girl groups, but AFTERSCHOOL can't (due to their mature look).
Oh it's probably because they were exhausted back then, i saw some BTS that this PV shooting started at midnight. But agree that they should stick to mature and sexy concept. (Not that they have chances to do so now:( )
