The concepts needed for tackling questions
Clinical scenario: A patient with left exophoria. Maddox rod is placed oriented horizontally in front of the right eye.

Right side - vertical Line
Lt side - Circular Spot. But not overlapped.
As the maddox rod is placed in front of the left eye and the left eye is having exophoria (divergent and crossed diplopia) so the vertical line seen by the left eye will be placed right and the point source seen by the right eye will be placed to left horizontally in a same plane

@@mansigupta1818 means it only depends on exo or eso and where rod is placed not on side of eye having squint
As mam placed in the different eye orientation changed

Horizontal placement of maddox rod on left eye in case of left exo streak will be seen by right eye and spot of light by left eye indicating crossed diplopia

Madam, in case of esotropia, there is always cross image formation, therefore , the what left eye sees will be formed on the right to what right eye sees.
As , the Maddox rod is horizontal in front of the left eye, therefore the vertical streak of line it produces will form on the right(because of crossing) separated horizontally from the spot which will be formed on the left(pov- the patient)

Esotropia produces uncrossed diplopia.

As it is left exo and Maddox rod is kept in front of left eye, pt will see a steak of light from right eye and a circular spot from left :)
