Thanks for the update! I was quite demoralized after seeing the prices of the first book after hunting for the amazing US cover artwork and it being too much for me to justify. I was happy with the announcement that you got what you needed in Anderida Books (whom I have used in the past). I'll definitely be keeping my ears open on the possible new prints.
Thank you for putting this video out there. I am currently interested in your series, especially since Mike’s Book Reviews video on Empire of Silence. I am so incredibly happy that there will be Trade paperback versions of these soon. My eyes bother me at times and mass market isn’t for me, for that exact reason. So thank you so much for keeping your fans and potential new fans updated! I am super excited to start this series when these trades come out. I can not wait! Thank you for being upfront and honest with us, and I can not wait to see what Sun Eater will bring and mean to me once I get to read them!
I just finished The Empire of Silence and loved it so much. I'll definitely get the trade paper backs, when they come out. It definitely deserves to be on my shelves, instead of just being an ebook, and I love the covers:) I'm very excited to read the next books!
I shall endeavour to resign myself to patience and thus will be rewarded with special editions. Eventhough my bookshelves cry out in utter misery of an unresigned, impatient child who wants their sweets right at this moment. (We are currently in fierce negotiations which will probably end with my valet bribing them with other books. 😑) Seriously though, perhaps The Broken Binding would at some time do a special edition as well... 🤞 And thank you for clearing it all up for us, Christopher.
Kind of weird question for RUclips comment, but would you ever consider selling the set? Or books 1-3 specifically? 😅 Desperate to get my hands on the US hardcovers lol
Sounds like a perfect match for a nice Broken Binding special edition of the first 3 books, with nice painted edges. PLEASE do it. I just discovered this series, and want to get into it, but I feel stuck...can't do paperback...
Your work is stellar. Of course we the reader want to preserve your story the best way possible. I wish I had the money to give you. I would say secure 5000 copies of the first and second books in hardback. I would not want a profit. Recovering the cost of the investment would be enough. I love your work this much. Hard covers will always be in demand. Companies need to acknowledge they do better when they set themselves apart. If I was a publisher I would select the 3 most beloved series (not huge names yet) and make sure for one full year, after the first run, that a batch of 2500 books in hardback was available. Simply gather the orders before printing. Then produce the work, and repeat for one year. No risk to the publisher and we the readers are pleased. They can hold the money until the desired order number is reached. Just produce a deadline and if the demand is not there then refund the money. The readers, by word of mouth, will make it happen until the need is no longer. Keep writing and I will buy! Thank you.
@@ret123789 haha sorry no chance. I live in Bangladesh so it wouldn't be easy to ship the books abroad. And of course I love them too much to sell them.
Any idea what those 1000 copies will look like? Will they have original design? UK's? Completely new one? Will they be illustrated? Or leatherbound for like $300+? I suppose I will need to wait a few months for more info, right?
I believe the Anderida editions will be clothbound like the two we've already done, but I expect they will be like those other books in all things. I can't say for certain, though.
I was just told about the series and I am looking to start collecting and reading the hardcover versions. Is the series over now or are there going to be more books in thefuture? (Edit I just watched the last video thanks)
I still have no idea how the hell I got a copy of Empire of Silence. I might have gotten it from an excess bookseller like BookOutlet, but I know I spent like ten bucks on it and am very happy to have one. Just ordered Kingdoms of Death and Ashes of Man this past week!
I think I got mine for around $25-30 right before they became crazy expensive and I feel so lucky! I think the following week they were on eBay and Amazon for around $65-70+
I actually found hardcovers of Howling Dark and Demon in White in Barnes and Noble a couple of weeks ago, so now I have 2 full hardcover sets 🥰 Been collecting the Sun Eater series since its release

Sorry I just want to clarify, there will now be 3 hardcover versions of each book in the series? The OG DAW first print, the new publisher hardcovers, and the new publisher collector editions with new artwork? I'm really hoping to grab the first book in hardcover with the original art. I purchased the mass market paperback literally only because I thought the cover art was cool. It's the only hardcover I'm missing
Not quite. The new company only has the rights to books 6 and 7. 1-5 will remain with DAW, so there'll be the DAW 5 and the 2 from Baen (which will match 99%), as well as the new collectors editions I mentioned from Anderida Books, which will be a complete matched set.
I would love for that to happen, I just haven't had an offer from a Brazilian publisher. As for the box set, that probably won't happen for the foreseeable future, at least in English. The series got split across 2 publishers.
I'm one of the few that like the space saved by mass markets. At this point if I'm understanding correctly, a set of mass markets in the US is not possible, but possibly will be so for UK editions? For US, we should be able to eventually get a set of matching trade paperbacks once they begin to get printed?
@@SunEaterBooks Kickstarter has been gaining momentum for this sort of thing recently. I've backed a couple of campaigns for special editions. I'd absolutely back an Empire of Silence (and beyond) KS campaign.

I’ve been awarded with knowledge, though I’m already subscribed to Anderida’s newsletter. 🙇♂️
Thanks for the update!

Day 1 of waiting for Christopher Ruocchio to (eventually) blow up. I will buy those collectors editions though!!

Excited for the trade paperback news! Not a huge fan of mass market 😅
where can we follow for updates on this front as they come along? I got my eye on these trade paperbacks whenever they drop, i can't wait!!
Right here, for starters. I'll at least do community posts. But you can also sign up for my newsletter at sollanempire.com
HD is the only one I'm missing... though it would be cool if I could get a replacement dust jacket without any tiny tears for EoS.

That's correct. UK is still doing their mass markets (which are slightly larger than US mass markets). US is moving to trade.
I managed to find a second hand copy of Empire of Silence from Abe Books.
Amazon has book 1 in hard cover for $35. I was skeptical when I bought it, but it seems legit.
Would working with someone like The Broken Binding solve some hardcover issues?
I’m surprised HD and DiW haven’t started appearing on eBay.
I've seen a couple.
Not a best seller yet . I wonder if a poll or a kick starter would sway them
Wait... you're sayin you're NOT Brandon Sanderson?
So no mass market for Kingdoms of Death?
I'm afraid not, Curt. Not for the foreseeable future.
Kickstarter with illustrations sometime in the future?
One day, maybe.

Yes, in time.
