Measuring sound pressure is usually done from 1m away, on-axis, not A-weighted. B-weighted would be optimal, but most SPL meters don't offer that option, so C-weighted should be used. I prefer JBL's sound signature. It has and will always have more refined sound quality. Bass is so much more full on JBL. Highs are the best they can be on the JBL. The Sony does have slightly better highs. Overall they are both great speakers. It's just up to what people personally like and satisfies their liking for their music they listen to. I prefer the JBL. I still think the sound is just more refined, true, and natural.
The design of the JBL is much more travel friendly, although with the right sized bag with straps or backpack, not that big of a deal I suppose. No where to hold the Sony whereas the JBL has loops to hook into. It could be strapped onto a backpack or on a Kayak etc. Regarding the JBL tho, I believe it has last generation Bluetooth, and likely some latency issues to go with it for movies and such whereas the Sony's I have seen are low latency and well sync'd for games and videos. That is a consideration depending on usage needs. I wish the Sony was in the JBL's form factor because I do like the sound. They are both good. I also like the USBC charging vs carrying around a seperate charging brick. Hopefully the Xtreme 3 will address these issues.
Damn the sony just blows the xtreme 2 out of the water. Louder and bigger sounding bass. I used the xtreme 2 to listen to the sound test and the Sony just produced the louder and boomier sound.

I read a lot of people saying that they prefer the jbl cuz the sound has more treble, but if you compare the sony and the jbl sound to a professional sound system, you can tell that the sony has a more similar sound tone than the jbl (not loudness), the jbl is more "pitchy" but the sony has a more realistic sound in my opinion

You can barely notice, but JBL has the clarity again. And a little bit of low-end punch bass. Not much, barely noticable. And I'm too used to the Xtreme series's strap.. Since I owned an Xtreme for 1,5 years, and now I have an Xtreme 2, I always carry it everywhere, and for cycling, walking, cruising with e-scooter, the carrying strap really makes it much easier to carry. I also own an XB20, but back then the passive radiators were absolutely hidden, and if you put it in a bag for example, nothing can really damage the passive radiators. But now, the passive radiators on Sony's XB speakers are not hidden, and if you just throw it in your bag... meeeeh, I'm afraid something can damage it. So because I carry my speaker everywhere, I choose the Xtreme. But hell yeah, they did a really-really great decision with adding tweeters, it's not that muffled anymore. Also the new passive radiators look really cool, kinda similiar to the 2015 JBL passive radiator design.
@@sasahypnotic1824 so, how is it? is the bass good at 100%? I want it for outdoors mainly but i heard it in the store and it wasnt thatttt good. The charge 5 is 20 dollars cheaper here but i will only go for that if the xb43 isnt good at 100%. Sorry for talking too much, what is your opinion on the speaker?
Its pretty good, but shes heavy and not that good to take to somewhere. But in Sound the xb43 is better than xtreme 3 and the outdoor sound is amazing, just buy it
I mean sony makes great speakers, and i give the win to the sony, but i still think the xtreme 2 has a little bit more bass, but not by a lot, just because its cleaner ant smoother
So, can anyone help me choose the LOUDEST portable bluetooth speaker? Price doesn't matter, just want it to be portable (not bigger than these in the vid)... There are so many to choose from, am confused.
Sony is a little louder but i think the bass is jus a tiny bit richer and the treble is slightly more balanced so i would honestly say its a tie however the xb43 has nice lights so idk lol its tough decision btw its on sale for 150 on amazon so that’s a steal for the sony also the xtreme 3 is out. And both xtreme 3 and 2 get power boost when plugged in
The Onyx is better in every way except that it is mono sound. It smashes them both in the base department. The onyx uses a 5” driver and 1” tweeter with two passive radiators. They are not even in the same league. Also for the price you can find a Onyx 5 it’s not even a question.
Onyx 5 totally annihilates Sony. Lows are very very deep, mids are full, and highs are crisp without sibilance. The only negative for the 5 is it's mono, which is not a huge deal breaker
Got the sony xb43.its deadly thanks again.bdw the lg PN7 is a good contender.I feel its even better overall than these two just that we dont get it here.
I like the sony. Sounds better to me. I actually went and bought it. It's 250 dollars but I got it on sale at target for 150. I believe a Christmas sale. So if you want one, now is the time.
Very important to compare the sound indoors and outdoors. Acoustics will make or break a speaker. I'd say outdoors you get the actual truth of whats coming from the speaker to your ears and NOT what happens to echo back from furniture. EDIT: Also the volume and sound overall is very similar. Through the imperfect recording apparatus, I would have to say the sound signature of the JBL is more pleasant overall.

When is the lg pl7 going to review and I like the Sony xb43 that speaker will sound good with dts ultra 7.1
5db is nothing, but you need 2 times more power to have it :) So, this is very significant, mostly for bass reproduction.
10dB will sound twice as loud, so 5dB is about 50% louder. That's significant.
What firmware is your Xtreme 2 at on this test?
I m going to buy speaker on the Boxing Day but I m confused which one extreme 2 or xb43
Damn the sony just blows the xtreme 2 out of the water. Louder and bigger sounding bass. I used the xtreme 2 to listen to the sound test and the Sony just produced the louder and boomier sound.
I did otherwise and the extreme 2 sounded better outdoors
Totally agree!
@@zeldabotw nah, sony have fuller bass and it’s louder (according with the video too) but hey… everyone have their own ears
What is your recommended EQ setting in the app?
What I should choose xb43 or extreme 2😅
Hello I need euro help, I ordered a JBL Xtreme 2 for testing, now I have seen that Sony has brought out the XB43, now to my question which of the two speakers is the one, with the JBL I know the 40 Has watts, but with the Sony XB43 I don't know how many watts it has, can you please tell me whether the Sony is going as the JBL, because if the Sony goes louder then I would send the JBL back and buy the Sony, it would be nice if you could help me there, thank you
16 watt per channel means 16x2 i.e 32watt total...
But its not a professional sound system lmao, its a bt speaker smh
Sony speaker XB41 got it Walmart for $49.00 😂 totally worth how much I paid for it got it on clearance hidden clearance at Walmart
Dayuuuum, I got my xb41 for 160aud clearance XD
Give me link to speaker
Damn thats a Steal Deal
@@mysticzz6685 yeah Point Blank I would definitely check your local Walmart use the Walmart app and scan the speakers price tag maybe you'll get lucky and get it cheaper than me
@@esthervanda7401 there's no link to a website link you have to go physically to a Walmart store and take the Walmart app downloaded on your phone and scan the price tag of the speaker and see if it's scans cheaper than what it shows on the Shelf if you might get lucky and might be cheaper than what I paid
JBL always have A Crisp clear sound in it
I love it
I prefer the sound of the XTREME 2
Bruh how it just sounds like treble
@@anthonyy5966 I don't prefer both of them, about equal
Fa14bi - nah the Sony is louder and has more kids and bass and that’s without the eq, I have the xb41 and the eq makes it sound wayyy better so idk if it will be the same with this one but it should make it sound even better
@@anthonyy5966 The JBL Xtreme 2 has a bit more of deep bass, the Sony more of middle bass and is louder.
My Favourite Bluetooth speakers are: Tribit Maxsound+, Minirig 3: Soundcore Motion+, Xb30.
was the test done after the firmware update of jbl extreme 2?
I closed my eyes for this and opened them when i heard a change. It almost sounded like the same speaker but one (jbl) sounded further away. Looking foreward to the xb33 review!!!!!
It's so weird how the sound signature is very close.
sorry, but on the side of bass, it's better the jbl xtreme 2 or the sony xb 43?
Sony XB43 😍👍
Brother please reply my question

Which one by Sony xb43 or jbl extreme 2 .. please answer..bro.

@@technicalvikram7876 Toss a coin. If you are not happy with the result, toss it again. Repeat until the result is what you want.
In the loudness the Sony wins but in the bass the xtreme 2 is a bit more but I think the Sony is better because of the battery life and the cool lights but jbl is also nice but in my option the Sony is a bit louder and the xtreme 2 has only 15 hrs playtime but the Sony has 24 hrs playtime but the xtreme 2 has the jbl connect+ but the Sony xb43 has the feature but can connect only some speakers
so in my option the sony is better cuz of the lights and loudness and the batterylife so have a great day :)
How long does ur xb43 last?
SONY is SONY 🔥🔥🔥

Recently purchased the xb43, amazing speaker compared to other brands. Would definitely recommend.
i order my xb43 today lets see what is
@@sasahypnotic1824 so, how is it? is the bass good at 100%? I want it for outdoors mainly but i heard it in the store and it wasnt thatttt good. It wasn't bad but not that good and i dont know if i should buy it, im thinking this or the charge 5 for battery and portabilty even tho i dont have a problem carrying this 3kg speaker too.

And the battery is good tho, take 24 hours in max without lights playing, with me take 4/5 days
now we should have an Xb-33 vs Xb-31 sound test!

I mean sony makes great speakers, and i give the win to the sony, but i still think the xtreme 2 has a little bit more bass, but not by a lot, just because its cleaner ant smoother
What do you recommend for better sound quality ?
Xtreme2 but for me sony is more better
What about battery life on both of them? Who last longer ?
Im glad of what sony did in those new speakers but still im jbl fan
Would like the ask about the background music
I am a Sony fan but JBL IS GREAT TOO
Which has better battery life? Sony or jbl?
which is better, jbl xtreme2 vs sony xb43?
So, can anyone help me choose the LOUDEST portable bluetooth speaker? Price doesn't matter, just want it to be portable (not bigger than these in the vid)... There are so many to choose from, am confused.
Pls try W-king d8 to your sony xb43 which is Louder ?? 😄
And both xtreme 3 and 2 get power boost when plugged in
It’s sounds like the jbl has better sub-bass. Not the kick bass type, but the background bass if that makes sense?
Although the XB43 is louder the JBL extreme 2 sounds cleaner.
Might need to "Clean" ur ears out lol get with reality
Really
JBL sounds like they need to step up there game. There's a new king in town
@@brando8611 True, JBL is better...... before HAHAHAHAH Now it's not XD 😆🤣
@@paulolv7798 for real though
Am I the only person who noticed that whenever the JBL was playing it was super windy and whenever the Sony was playing it was super calm lol
Yeah lol
Onyx studio 5/6 or xb43? Which sound better?
The Onyx is better in every way except that it is mono sound. It smashes them both in the base department. The onyx uses a 5” driver and 1” tweeter with two passive radiators. They are not even in the same league. Also for the price you can find a Onyx 5 it’s not even a question.
Onyx 5 totally annihilates Sony. Lows are very very deep, mids are full, and highs are crisp without sibilance. The only negative for the 5 is it's mono, which is not a huge deal breaker
If you turn on extra bass in Sony I guess it might have more bass
NICE VIDEO !!
louder : sony
Bass : both
Quality: my opinion xtreme 2 again my opinion
What exactly do you mean with quality?
The bass is a bit cleaner on the Xtreme 2 and has a clearer sound than the XB43 but I think the XB43 has a bit more treble
Got the sony xb43.its deadly thanks again.bdw the lg PN7 is a good contender.I feel its even better overall than these two just that we dont get it here.
I had a Xtreme 2 and saw it have no bass outdoor , how about the xb43 , does it lose bass outdoor ?
I like the sony. Sounds better to me. I actually went and bought it. It's 250 dollars but I got it on sale at target for 150. I believe a Christmas sale. So if you want one, now is the time.
Do you know when the XB43 wil be available in Europe?
After Corona is over
@@fa14bi-78 pwahahaaaa
@@Lesh7crafts Could take awhile, 2,3... maybe 150 weeks
Sony parfect sounds and louder
in this test are both speakers on the latest firmware?
