Great point at the beginning about the disconnect between legacy design methodologies and contemporary development processes. I've seen too many style guides for print being crowbarred into web, and Nicole is exactly right- they don't give enough information to developers to make intuitive decisions. Which results in confusing, inconsistent UIs. +1 for "living" style guides!
