Hey everyone!
Here is a little cover with only voice/guitar. It's the first one in my new house! Well I guess you can't really tell the difference x). Anyway, I've loved this song for a long time now, and that evening, about 3 weeks ago, I really felt like covering it, in a finger-picking style. Conor Oberst is really a incredible songwriter, and really this song is special. I hope you will like my version!
Sorry for the little pops sometimes, I couldn't find my anti-pop filter, I hope it doesn't spoil the sound too much.

I like this cover on youtube the best because I think you caputred Conor's aesthetic on the track perfectly. A lot of other covers kind of have this wide vocal range and people belt out the lyrics making it sound really happy and overly cinematic. This cover is timid and brimming with emotion, much like the vulnerability we feel when we fall in love with someone.
I totally agree with your assessment. Then again, there is the cover by Millie Tizzard, which is a bit more "musical", but still displays that vulnerability you mentioned, and does not overdo the performance.
Covers are not just made out of the joy to repeat a great song but also to do it in other ways.

I strongly agree with the other comments about how well this artist in particular captures the vulnerability and emotion of the original piece. Unlike other cover musicians, it doesn't sound as though you're simply covering a popular song. You have real, vested emotion in your singing and the message of the song. um... I know this is 5 years old, but I feel obligated since nobody has answered: it's just the regular version that Connor plays, but without the capo on. If you search for the tabs, or a tutorial on youtube, just follow that, but without the capo on the 4th fret

Je le dis et le redis, tu est tout simplement un magicien, tes pouvoirs sont entièrement regroupé dans ta voix, mais aussi ton émotion lorsque tu chantes. ( et un petit peu dans tes yeux... aha) Il y a une telle émotion, on se retiendrait presque de respirer pour ne pas risquer de te déranger.. Tu as tout pour réussir et aller le plus loin possible!
