Furthermore, the personal attacks started from their side. This guy that's doing the interview should know that there is 3 sides to everything story: their side, Ali's side, and the truth. For the him to say Ali sued them, that was after they tried to sue him. Tell the truth and acknowledge that there was some conniving crap done. There were members from the band writing bad crap about Ali as soon as he left, then when Astro left that same band member wrote bad crap about Astro. So mud slinging was done on both sides, stop making it seem like it was all Ali, when it wasn't!!

Firstly ub40 and madness both hold the record for a band in uk for weeks in the charts in the 80s, but madness did it in fewer years up to 86 where ub40 up to 89.love both band grew up in same are sparkhill and moseley Balsall heath. Tho prefer madness as not as serious.
But what a tragedy all this has become,bitterness after so many years together their wives kids etc all knew each other. Terrible. Always thought ub40 was close nit.

Tragically 2 members died within months of each other.i heard Robin say their parents died and ali never attended funerals.wow that's awful if that's the case. Such a sad ending.
Ub40 need ali his voice is distinctive to their sound.

I'm a loyal ub40 fan and i do believe that Duncan is a great singer. Robin is cool and honest as he ever whas, so big up to the real ub40!
Also, how can Robin say Ali is using the name when he clearly states who the crowd is coming to see. Robin and the original members have never informed fans in the United States that Ali was not the lead singer...only true UB40 fans knew this. So to say Ali is stealing the name is stupid as well as rigotdamndiculous!! Real fans know the deal!!!

Because Ali is the signature voice and has been for years but the main line up is with Robin's

No Ali = no UB40. Also, Ali + Astro = no UB40. I prefer the Ali and Astro band simply because of the vocals. Duncan is an okay singer on newer tunes, but cannot properly do the old UB40 songs. I mean just listen to Kingston Town live.
Maybe you should ask Aldi and ashtray to sing a Capella then instead of using session musicians to ruin UB40s music that nobody in that band had anything to do with.

barry jenkins blame the autocorrect text and it's hardly wrong I've heard of lots of complaints about the ub40 with Duncan even a concert in in Plymouth that cancelled them because they wanted the original lead singer not a ex folk singer or fish and chip shop fryer bet he was a better fryer than singer and dancer especially reggae and in Newton abbot they so many were upset and wanted refunds or said they would never go and watch them again but I guess it's each to there own
@@stig20101 firstly don't blame autocorrrect for your lack of punctuation, that aside either you are yet another Aldi troll or you have been believing the crap they spread online.No concert was ever cancelled since they are honest about who they are unlike the other 2, let's not forget who is being taken to the high court for stealing the name. As for whose voice is worse, you won't find the real UB40 using Autotune when they perform live unlike Aldi and Ashtray whose voices have gone whilst they sing songs they never wrote over a backing track played by session musicians who had nothing to do with the music they are playing.

See this what I am talking about....Ali never said the band reunited, he said Ali Campbell reunited with Astro and Mickey in 2014. Then it said UB40 feat. Ali, Astro, and Mickey. So, talking about Ali taking the name, hell UB40 was very famous before he left so what makes u think he can't use the name when he clearly establishes his version as UB40 feat. Ali, Astro, and Mickey. This guy needs to interview Ali and Astro to get their side of it. It is rigotdamndiculous to think the success came without Ali. Duncan is riding the success that came as a result of Ali being the lead singer. This guy needs to interview Ali and Astro. Robin needs to admit the success came with the original 8 members

Robin was half of the vocals. Him and Ali had a brotherly blend that can never be mimicked; not even with Duncan.
You cannot go back to your roots because you cannot have the same sound because you do not have Ali to go back to your roots you would need to have any Campbell back as lead singer end of story and anybody who knows run talking about who has followed them all their lives I'm sure they will agree with me

That doesn't give him any rights to the name.are you aware of how the law works?In that case its Robins band as he got Ali into reggae.If Bt Robin and Jimmy had not written all the songs then Ali would have nothing to sing.If the band was his then why resign and go solo until he couldnt sell a gig?He could have just sacked them all if it was his band.And there you have it,its not his name and nobody in his band had anything to do with all those hits.He saw it as a way to con the public and cash in off the gullible.

No one can actually own the name UB40 ,it's owned by the British government, department for social security, so both bands using the UB40 name haven't got a leg to stand on.
It's a group name ! Ub40 state name doesnt exist any more !

Awkward???...never. I lived around the corner from Ali Robin and Astro ...saw them on occasions . Very humble , regular guys . I just wish they'd get back together at least for the sake of their mom!x♥️
