This much older than xmas and gives me goosebumps when I think of the very longevity of it. Happy winter solstice.
Actually, if you think a bit more about what you just said, the winter solstice is the ideal time to celebrate Christmas. There is no reason that those who do not believe what Christians do, can’t still keep their day. Christmas is the celebration of the Light of the World, Jesus Christ, coming to earth to shine a light over the darkness. That is the whole purpose of Christmas. That is probably why the early Christians chose this day. And who says that Christians do not recognize the original meaning around that day
Well christmas wasnt meant to steal anything. From what i was taught people basically screwed up when he wss born and a lot of the traditions came from the solstice so i guess they basically combined mostly due to companies pushing things to be a new tradition like giving gifts and all that although i like the idea of taking the time you celebrate jesus to be giving, most dont do it for that reason But yeah basically the holidays meshed together because they got his birthday wrong so now christmas in july is a thing just not an official thing. Personally i see christmas as a way of doing things with your family (decorating, baking, crafts etc) and having decorations up that just put you in a good mood too. When it comes to gifts i dont do it becai feel i have to i do it for tge reason why christians claim to do it and thats to give. Take time to thank your familly and friends and make them smile. I also like the give to charities. Where i live christmas is more based around christian beliefs rather than a mix so schools super markets and tge hospital will put money, food, toys, clothes etc towards the poor families and seeing the look on their faces is why its great idc what month it is i just like seeing a month dedicated to helping people out. Sadly it seems more people are just greedy and rude around christmas now.
@@SG-df9er no there’s actual proof that Jesus was a real person, he’s in the history books, that’s never been an argument. The argument was whether he was actually the son of God or anyone important for that matter.
@@mere11ynbasically, the early church leaders, some of which were really hard-nosed, decided to give old traditional festivals a Christian meaning. They didn't want the people to celebrate Yule so they called it Christmas. Over time the origins were lost.
People say that the Christians took over other religion's winter holidays to exert control, though people tend to not agree about which one. Some say Yule, some say Saturnalia, etc. In this case, the claim is winter solstice. In reality, Christians of that time believed that Christ's conception took place on Good Friday March 25, which would mean Jesus was present on Earth for exactly 33 years (that he died on the anniversary of his conception, in other words). So they did some calculating and determined that 9 months after Good Friday was around December 25. Since that is generally around the time he was expected to be born, the Christians decided to use that date to celebrate Christ's birth. And when you think about it, doesn't make much sense for the Christians to steal a winter festival only because they feel like stealing a festival. After all, the Pagans had many different celebrations all throughout the year. There was nothing special about the winter ones. Why would the Christians only steal just a winter holiday if they were supposedly so determined to take over everyone's holidays? Just isn't a very convincing theory. The only logical reason Christians would choose that period of time for celebrating was if they had reason to believe that period of time was special in some way in accordance with their own faith.
@@Lady_de_Lis so when christians realise that 25 Disember is not Jesus birthday, did they not celebrate chistmast or celebrate at the new one? Sorry... I just read from another chistian who said about it.
Love the subtle under layers of this clip...well done imo I see, Paganism, how the Church cleverly instilled their doctrine, and how commercialism replaced Christianity.
Jesus was not petty and spoiled. he got skewered for crying out loud. I can't stop laughing and crying at how accurate, ridiculous, and Frickin Adorable this is!!! I love all your vids!
First of all i would call you neo-pagan since you have no intact traditionline connected to the original pagan religion aka you make up the religion in which way seems suitable to you. And secondly this videos implication make a wrong impression. Even though christmas and solstice share a common date and use evergreen plants for symbolism of hope, they have not much in common.
@lasha matiashvili ummm no. Being Christian myself with pagan parents thats not how that goes. Pagans celebrate yule now, Christmas for Christians has been monetized to buggery so much that it's lost its meaning. Modern day Christmas nicked some things from paganism like the star and the putting up of the tree, the meaning behind Christmas and yule originally are the same, its about family, but it is celebrated differently as different occasions. They are similar but yule isn't Christmas and Christmas isn't yule
I’m a devout Christian and this is incredible. The reveal of Santa and the elves busting in at the end knocked me out. Absolutely incredible Adrian, well done
@@deiniolbythynnwr926 Are you saying that Christmas wasn't just taking various pagan traditions and rebranding because the Church wanted to steal the Winter Solstice from the Pagans while changing the supposed date of Christ's birth in order to justify it?
@@__Insanity_ steal is harsh... I'd say more like "rebrand" basically making it easier for pagans to convert because they'd still get their main party.
@@isevais I would like to point out that the Church was very anti-pagan, so I'd say stealing is not harsh. They appropriated the culture and traditions while watering it down, essentially bastardizing long-standing celebrations and holidays. It would make it easier to convert, yes. But that's ignoring why they would eventually convert. Because they were persecuted. In some places they were even killed and pushed from their lands (Sidenote, because the term "Culture Appropriation" is thrown around a lot: When people say Cultural appropriation in context to people not of the culture expressing interest and adopting aspects or most of the time specifically attire and garb, they're not correct. Cultural appropriation is to take aspects of the culture without proper respect or knowledge of the culture, most times out of ignorance and some of the time (like with the church and racist assholes) with negative intentions and ill will. For example, the wearing of Ceremonial headdresses of Native American tribes. They are not clothing, they are earned and are not just worn by anyone. But just because a person is interested in a different culture and decides to adopt traditions or aspects of a particular culture in a respectful way, it doesn't mean they're bad people or ignorant. There are actually people of other cultures who enjoy seeing foreigners taking part in such traditions if they are respectful and do it right. That tangent however does not apply to the appropriations of the Church with their theft of the Pagan traditions and converting it to the Christmas celebration we all know. It was born of ill intent; trying to push the Pagans out, overshadow their cultural celebrations with their own bastardized versions, and wanting to convert the Pagans themselves through manipulation. It has been shown to be easier to convert the unwilling by incorporating their beliefs into your own, the Romans for example notably adopted Gods and drew parallels to their own pantheon. The Christians or Catholics (I can't remember which and it's difficult to differentiate, they're both so similar and I have a general disliking for both organizations) are guilty of this during their conversion of Ireland, adopting various myths and changing Gods and the like to saints and ancient kings. This act has had negative consequences to the mythologies, changing and erasing certain myths due to being unable to fit them into their own mythology and stories cleanly without changing it from the founding Monotheistic beliefs. A good bit has survived today, which is fortunate
Just to say this in case it gets taken the wrong way: I am in no way attempting to offend anyone or anything of the sort. If you are offended, I apologize. I merely want to share what, to my knowledge, is the history of the holiday. If I have gotten any facts incorrect, do not hesitate to correct me as my knowledge is limited. I am Human (I think) and prone to mistakes. And also, I am in no way whatsoever attempting to bash any religions, you are free to practice any religion you wish. I just want people to be informed. Personally, I don't care for most forms of Religion. I do respect a handful of them though because the ones I respect are not about fear and cruel punishment, like Buddhism. My opinion though
Yeah... But actually that's false. Christians took this date because of the closeness of the longest night in the year and not because of the winter solstice. I can appreciate the humor but this video is historically wrong.
The more background characters he made, the more I have to rewatch over and over again to guffaw at each expressions. The smugness of the gangs in this particular video got me sitting and giggling several minutes longer than I should on the toilet. 🤣🤣🤣🤣

The story telling in this is top notch and if you actually know history this is hilarious beyond measure 😂
@@Lady_de_Lispeople just want to shit on christians, that’s the only reason ehy

Bro what
First of all i would call you neo-pagan since you have no intact traditionline connected to the original pagan religion aka you make up the religion in which way seems suitable to you.
And secondly this videos implication make a wrong impression. Even though christmas and solstice share a common date and use evergreen plants for symbolism of hope, they have not much in common.
@@DauraTHEEXPLORA pagans we're one of the original religions before Christianity. I myself am wiccan ;)
@@xx_ash_playz_xx yes I know which is also just simply worshipping satan
@lasha matiashvili ummm no. Being Christian myself with pagan parents thats not how that goes. Pagans celebrate yule now, Christmas for Christians has been monetized to buggery so much that it's lost its meaning. Modern day Christmas nicked some things from paganism like the star and the putting up of the tree, the meaning behind Christmas and yule originally are the same, its about family, but it is celebrated differently as different occasions. They are similar but yule isn't Christmas and Christmas isn't yule
That last little bit made me spit my coffee out!
I’m a devout Christian and this is incredible. The reveal of Santa and the elves busting in at the end knocked me out. Absolutely incredible Adrian, well done
Do you celebrate Christmas?
@@WaqManGaming if they were devout then no. Jesus was not born in December and no Christmas traditions are related to the Bible in any way.
My problems with Christmas summarized in one video
Maybe you should actually read the history of Christmas and not get it from memes?
In some places they were even killed and pushed from their lands
(Sidenote, because the term "Culture Appropriation" is thrown around a lot: When people say Cultural appropriation in context to people not of the culture expressing interest and adopting aspects or most of the time specifically attire and garb, they're not correct.
Adrian is the only guy to use history in real life
Atheism is a Communist, Heretic, Sacarsm, and Heathens
Yeah... But actually that's false. Christians took this date because of the closeness of the longest night in the year and not because of the winter solstice. I can appreciate the humor but this video is historically wrong.
