8:07 I think this is truer than we realize! This is the first time in 200 years he's been autonomous and free and Tav &Co are the first people he's met while he has free will, possibly the first he's spoken to and joked with in those 200 years that wasn't on Cazador's orders, that he hasn't had to watch Cazador kill or torture in front of him. Perhaps he's just imprinted on them like a vampire duckling lmao. I definitely don't think it's purely the worms.
Camp cleaning trick: Freeze the blood with Gale's ray of frost and then shoot a fire bolt to the ice, it will become a mist and then it disappears :) I may have needed it to clear some... intruders from my camp.
I never notice until you pointed it out that Astarion is the only one that really gets butt hurt when you try to tell him to leave the group. Unlike the others who make it known that they are fine without the Player. This scene I feel is perfect for both Astarion and the main character because its only in the early stages in the relationship. Love this video!!!
I wonder if it would affect the 'keep those fangs off me!' option in the romance. Astarion would normally be upset that you don't trust him to not bite you, but in this instance he DID break your trust. He might acknowledge that and give a more sincere apology, maybe?
Ok now I wish I purposefully let him kill me on my current Druid playthrough, thats hilarious! So glad they went back and added a scene for this! I really like the difference between telling Gale to leave, and Astarian to leave. Gale leaves without a fight, because while he has a selfish and pragmatic side, he's still ultimately a good person, and if you aren't willing to have a walking bomb around hes understanding of it. He also says that if he is ever certain his condition can't be fixed he will go to a remote location where he cant hurt anyone, and wait for the end. Gale is also the most experienced of the party having already been through his adventuring days, so he knows how to handle himself alone, even if its not his first choice. Astarion is more evil aligned, and understands there is strength in numbers, so of course he wouldn't want to leave, especially with Casador haunting his dreams. He's also in unfamiliar territory, and hes arguably the least experienced in the adventuring arts, because of the tight leash Casador kept him on.
Yeah! I had just done that and was really shocked that he just said Farewell and turned around to leave! Like.. whaaaat?! That's it?! Astarion's response seems more appropriate imo. Like 'Are you serious!?'
In Gale's defense, he leaves so easily because he understands that he is too dangerous for others. Plus, he took our refusal to help him rather painfully. Therefore, it is easier for him to leave than to stay. That's how I see it.
I'm really pleasantly surprised at the whole content and "replayability value" this game have I remember killing La'zel on the mind flayer at the beginning of the game just for fun and to see what will happen really was a voice line of her being like "you dumbass you really gonna fight me right now"
LOL! I've never done that! One game I killed Lae'zel when she dropped from the cage.. another I never even started the confrontation and was surprised to see she escapes on her own and makes it to the githyanki patrol.
"thank goodness.... you looked a little ill last night" all with a straight face. I am.. officially....deceased...hahaha (see what I did there? hahaha)
i wonder if he's still a bit high from drinking human blood for the first time & he's too happy to feel bad for killing tav. i think the fact that he just takes getting punched on the chin instead of turning all growly means he knows what he did was wrong, but i think his less than empathetic responses compared to when you don't punch him means that hit confirmed that you guys aren't friends. or something like that
I think if you punch him, he might consider the two of you to be even and that's why he's less sorry about the whole thing. But I agree with you and prefer the other option too because it shows that he's got some hidden depths, and that depth is why I love him so much. He can be pretty self-centered and uses humor to deflect the situation, but there are moments where he's very genuine with the PC, like in his romance scene which surprised me with how sweet it is. In that scene, he's opening his heart to you, and if you reject him after accepting to spend the night with him (or show that you don't trust him), he'll actually be genuinely hurt (more so than with the petty jealousy he'll display if you choose to spend the night with another companion).
I think his reaction feels extra flagrant and apathetic because of all we have gone through with Astarion prior to this scene being added. I think if it was there from the begging of the games release I wouldn't feel so disappointed in him, that he wasn't more remorseful lol. I forget in context of the time frame in which he dose it it in, being still new to the party. I suppose cannot expect him to be all remorseful about what he has done and see it more as Astarion survival tactics XD. Considering what we have learnt about him later how he was treated by Cazador and such. How I suspect he has never really been allowed (if at all) to feed on a actual sentient humanoid before (elf, human etc). That and being starved I can see the typical vampire trope of him getting carried away easily. I dunno I guess expected him to be a lil more cut up or horrified, concerned a bit more about you maybe. Well in his typical almost child like Astarion way =3
Predators are beautiful creatures, but they're always dangerous. My druid punched Astarion, because 50/50 he was embarassed he'd forgotten and just plain mad Astarion ignored his -1 persuasion checks. I am, however, a simp for the gremlin, a trait that extends to all my characters, so naturally I let him stay.
Oh I passed the persuasion check for him to stop. Might do this next playthrough. Just got my Astarion one night stand. Now Gale and Wyll are pissed at me. 😂
Interesting. I didn't get the impression that he cared at all in this scene. I think the insincerity of his apology was intended to be funny in how obvious it was. It's possible that they'll add different reactions/scenes that are dependent on your relationship later. Right now you can trigger cutscenes and dialogue out of order, but I imagine that will change once the game is complete. This to me read as a scene that was meant for your character learning the truth very early on. But even if that is the case they'll need to add more to the scene in order for it to make sense. Astarion is surprised you're alive even if he is the one to resurrect you, and none of the other companions react to you being dead. I don't even think they comment on it after the fact. Maybe they'll add one of the other party members resurrecting the player at some point. If Astarion does it they'll need to change at least part of the scene. Honestly I would prefer that because it would give you a plausible reason to let him stay.
“You looked a little... ill.” NO SHIT SHERLOCK YOU KILLED ME LAST NIGHT. For real though I’m just now catching up on your videos and his first possible reaction is so ridiculous! 😂 I’d be so pissed if someone tried to downplay the fact that they accidentally sucked me dry like a Capri Sun resulting in me having to be resurrected. I’m glad his second type of reaction is a bit more serious and sincere. As for his third one it kind of hurt me 😢 Like I know it’s realistic that some people would choose to kick him out of the party after that but he really tried to fight to stay.
Well, while he´s pretty cute in some moments of this scene, I would not consider it canon for my character and I wouldn´t have a heart to let my character romance him if it was canon. She likes the thrill but she´s not a masochist, you know. Anyway, he knows your character for like two days at this point and the only life he values is his own, so it´s not out of character in this regards.
As soon as I revived I shot astarion with a crossbow then it turned into a camp brawl with lizeal somehow not being on my side nor his so I just did a reload
Did anyone have Astarion be the one who rezzed them? I'm curious if he says something different then. BTW, don't forget all of these characters are evil, really really evil. Even Gale, who seems the nicest, well, what he did in his hubris and selfishness could end all life on the planet. Plus his "little problem" should at some point eat his parasite, which would be an interesting character development if Larian thinks of it.
I got this scene last night and I while I liked Astarion at first, I was really annoyed at his reaction to literally killing me and put him in a party member time out. (Also punched him)
I'm also surpised that the other party members don't say anything and act like it's all ok. We know that they can speak up during Dialogue options. Infact this whole thing is a bit off. Literally *dying* is no simple matter, would also be cool if he's gone from the party in the morning and you can find him later where he apologizes or something with the rest of the party verbally distrusting him
I think it’s kinda funny how much people are building him up and woobifying him when it’s so clearly obvious he’s not a good person and at this point has no reason to care about you beyond being a practical asset and literal meal ticket
I didn't even get a bite night scene and he's really hostile even though I've been getting approval after approval from him. This game's really leading me on :/
Yeah, I killed him, and gale, and the gith. Kept the other 2 for cannon fodder. Of course I'm using the adance to level 20 and fater leveling mods so I can solo the rest haha.
I don't know if I could ever kill him or Gale.. I really like them both, but I have killed Shadowheart and Laezel many times. xD Wyll has sometimes been left out of the equation when I run an evil game since he just leaves.
Hahah - I've been working on writing a book (when I have free time) and so I haven't been doing the fanfiction AS much, but I could definitely write what I think would be a better response! I think that would probably help me get into this whole scene a lot more too. Might help to take a creative break from my main story too. Thanks for the idea! :)
It is at least a bit better now with the scene added, but it still irks me a tad. It just doesn't seem to fit his personality towards you on the whole.
@@Mmogurl the entire situation still feels a bit out of place to me personally. But its great to actually have a scene to make a decision off of. The way they pitched the entire situation on Astarion's end feels too comedic. Though, that's not necessarily out of character. Something as simple as having Astarion say something within the lines of.. ''Guys, i might have caused a problem' so that it actually looks like he's concerned about the situation.

I’m honestly glad he’s not very sorry. I like not having all characters be really likeable and good people in general.
Sure, if it's their normal behavior. I'd argue he's not usually like this with the PC at least considering you're on good terms.
But that’s not exceptable for a romantic partner.
Same, it's hilarious and entirely fitting with his character.
