Hi dear!! This page here explains all the cables necessary to do it: monitorplus.cc/docs/general/connecting-to-your-camera/wired-connection/ But I'm afraid as of now, iPhones are not supported in the wired connection ! You might have to write them or check again later :) Thanks for watching !!
@@FlyEnri Excuse me for insisting Erin, but on your video, it's however an A7III which is connected to an iPhone with a cable, no? This is what kind of cable? Thank you again :-) Olivier
Hi Olivier, it's an Oppo Find X3 Neo, kinda looks like an iPhone but it's not. That cable is a normal usb-c to usb-c, and the phone itself has OTG enabled. If the phone you're using doesn't have, you'll need a cable or an adapter that supports it. It grants the possibility of carrying data inside the phone, just like when you plug a usb drive or something like that to the phone, to act as an external disk.
Great video, liked and subscribed! I had a quick question, does this app let you monitor audio for the video? I have a son a6300 and it does not let me monitor audio. I have a splitter feeding into a Zoom recorder, then going into the camera, so i can record somewhat, but it would be nice to hear exactly what the camera is picking up. Thanks again!
Hi Darrel ! Your question made me go into a rabbit hole of checking out this issue, as I didn't know there was no headphone jack on these cameras hahaha So, short answer is no, unfortunately Monitor plus does not show the audio levels, I would love to have it also. Maybe in some future update (and very frequently I get notified there is a new version to update). But anyways, it's impossible to connect directly but you're doing it the only way possible. And if you go to custom settings, and display audio level ON you can at least see the volume bar going up and down, right ? Guess you'll have to rely on that one really. Thanks for watching !

Hi: I have a chinese version a7c wich can not change the language to English because it lacks this option. With this app the language on my phone will be English or chinese? Please try to Select one language on your camera and another different language on your phone and let me know if it works. Thanks in advance
Hi Joe!! Just tested here and the language on Monitor+ in the phone remains what you choose in the phone. Inside the app you have English and two others which I think are chinese. I put portuguese on the A7iii and on the app it stayed English so this can be a good solution for ya :D Thanks for watching !
Hmmm so it sets a direct connection between them, so in theory you need to be in the same frequency. Maybe your phone is set to use only the 5Ghz band, and so it's asking to put the camera accordingly but I don't think it has this customization option. I'd say to take a look at the phone config.
@@FlyEnri I've already bought the paid version having tested out the freebie for a day. It's great. One thing - do you know if you can touch-focus on the phone screen? I'm using an A7IV, and I've found you can touch-track in C-AF mode, but have yet to find out if you can touch to focus. Even if I can't, this app is great and very well designed. I love how in movie mode you can see shutter angle and it has quick shortcut buttons to the best ISO value (800/3200 for video). Thanks again!
I kinda use touch focus all the time by using the Flexible Spot focusing mode. It shows on screen the small rectangle of where it is going to focus, and accepts input from clicking on screen. You can drag it or click and the spot will follow, super handy !
Ohhh really, too laggy? Inside the menu you can see the stats, how many fps are you getting? I'd try another cable just to check. Also, try disabling the color assist if you have it on, that makes it laggy also on mine.
Hi Marcelo! There are many variables to account for if the monitor or viewfinder will display something, so it's easier if i just link this page so you can check your specific case: www.sony.co.uk/electronics/support/articles/00120915
Does the app have a way to view the exposure meter? I want to be able to make manual adjustments to ISO, aperture, and shutter speed and see how those changes impact the exposure.
This a fantastic app for Android phones as it allows the faster connection directly through USB-C. Which Android phone would you say is the best option for this functionality?
I've used my two android phones with it, and both worked perfectly. The Oppo Find X3 Neo and the X5 Lite. Super fast connection via USB-C, app runs smooth. The wireless connection on both was the same also, a bit laggy and not as comfortable as using with the cable. In theory, it shouldn't matter much the phone, but I've only tested with these so can't be sure. Especially because it requires OTG, and some phones don't have it built in, so you'll need an adapter.
hahahahahaaha I don't remember in which other video someone said the same. Brazilians and portuguese look very similar I guess! I wish someone would say the same about my soccer skills, but I'm miles and miles behind Bruno on this one, hahahahaha Thanks for watching dear !

I think if you've got a camera that needs to be connected by wire you'll have some trouble because the USB-C port will be busy. But in case you can connect wirelessly in theory it should work for both things simultaneously. You got a Ronin ?
I got Zhiyun. I tried the app and as of now it’s completely trash. I moved the camera Sony a7c around (multiple times different locations) it’s showing same spots on the phone monitor. Laggy very very bad.

Hi Tim! With the cable it's way better! There is a status icon that you can use to monitor. While on cable it never drops below 25 fps, so I get real live view. On the wireless very often it drops to 12, 13, so it gets choppy....

Great video with a lot of information. When you take a photo with a smart phone and location services turned ON you pick up the GPS location of where the photo was taken. If I am using the Monitor + app and take a photo with the phone connected to the camera does the photo on the camera still pickup the GPS coordinates? What if I have the Monitor + connected to the camera and take a photo with the camera? Does the photo taken with the camera pick up the GPS coordinates?
Thanks a lot Steve!! The GPS info won't be sent over, but actually Sony's got this in the Imaging Edge app! If you go to settings, you'll find Location Information Linkage. This will link the camera and the phone via Bluetooth, and will insert the GPS coordinates in the images you take. Try it out and let me know if it works for ya!
Now I am trying for 2 days now to connect my (new) sony A7M4 to the app. Is not working, I could connect to the imaging ap from Sony, but not to Monitor plus. This app ask me to connect trough the QR code, but the QR code on the menu of the A7m4 is to small, and there is no page with a bigger QR code, like on the other sony cameras (like my privious A7m3) Now what to do?
Hi Joost ! So far I'm not seeing the A7IV in the list of compatible cameras on their website, so I can only assume that it's still not supported, so you'll probably have to wait a bit for them to get it working !
Sorry, but on the Sony A7iii the Imaging Edge App (on a decent phone) is better than running a clunky cable. I use a Huawei P10 and Imaging Edge runs perfectly wirelessly.
Hi Riian ! It works well on mine also without the cable, I even believe it's a bit faster than Monitor+ in this matter, but the functionality is waaaay more limited. You don't have the luts, the focus peaking, the adjustments you get, the histograms, vectorscopes, if you touch the camera the reconnection takes ages, etc etc and more etc. :)
I'm also shooting with Sony Imagine App. Really, loved it when I'm shooting my youtube review or videos in my studio. But I think for outdoor purposes this Monitor+ is really cool because of many features which I can't find in Sony Imagine. Just curious about the Mic audio bars also visible on this app? I'm planning to buy it for myself and a youtube dedicated video🤗 Thank You @FlyEnri for this video, will mention your channel name on my video 😊
Hi Juan! By any chance do you know if the Xiaomi and the Tab support OTG ? What about the cable you're using ? This can be the issue. It needs to pass on the data towards the phone.
Hello FlyEnri, Thank you for your video :-) The BALLS to see that we can't even use the Sony A7III without a cable. They already feel that the A7III became obsolete or what? Thank you Monitor+.
Hi Olivier !! It's not only the A7iii, but all cameras before a certain date. I can only imagine that the coding for the app to read what comes from the camera wirelessly is different and just wouldn't work. Actually I don't think Sony opens up how it works for 3rd party companies to create their own apps, so my guess is that they figured it out and simply made it work for some of them. Still I've been using it these days and it's been helping a lot.
Hi Nicolas !! Unfortunately no, this is a limitation of some cameras when using any kind of external monitor device, by USB or HDMI. Thanks for watching!
Yeah unfortunately, I can't link my s21 ultra to my 6600. It says wired connection only and I know my wire is good but it won't connect. This is way more annoying than it needs to be. I don't understand what I'm doing wrong.
Hey man! One important thing is that the cable or the phone need to have OTG enabled, it's a way that it won't only charge, but it will allow data to go in the direction of the phone. Also, for the wired to work you need the paid version, you got it already? Hmmm trying to think what else could be...
I imagine you already saw this page right ? monitorplus.cc/docs/general/connecting-to-your-camera/wired-connection/ So USB power off, connections as PC Remote, cable OTG enabled...yeah that should be enough...
@@FlyEnri I'm new to digital photography, I've only had it a few months. The last real cameras I've handled were film. I'm older, when I was in high school my biology teacher knew I hated school and asked me if I wanted to help out with photography. The school had Nikon and Minolta film cameras, small school, not a lot of money, limited budget, learned how to roll the film in the canister, develop the film, use the enlarger, develop the pictures (black and white). So this A7R5 camera is beyond amazing to me. I just recorded my brother playing his acoustic guitar and singing James Taylor's Fire and Rain. Used a Sony G lens, the 20mm F/1.8. Really good glass. Came out amazing -- audio is good, but I want to upgrade to studio microphones and such. Still, the audio wasn't horrible, it just wasn't where it needs to be for a music video. I bought the smallrig cage and the adapter that allows me to connect the SONY XLR-H1 to the camera's hot shoe. I have a Shure SM57 to mic the guitar, and I'm shopping for a studio mic for voice. If I can't find a good deal, I might just get another sm57 or 58 and go with that. I really want the Sennheiser MKE 600 but I don't know how good that would be for a singer. I have so many things I want to do with this camera. I'm really wanting to do some astrophotography, make music videos, interview people, maybe make a few short movies. Also, here is a chart from the Monitor Plus website that shows which Sony cameras can make the most of the app. monitorplus.cc/docs/general/camera-compatibility-and-capability/ Thank you for making these videos. You are really helping people out. Saving people time and money. Best regards
Oh interesting! So you're connecting the HDMI output to the capture card and then into the phone? In theory it should work even only with the USB cable, have you tried it?
The app is good but very slow lagging live video if using iphone (wifi only). Extreme lag. And warms the phone a little bit, not much. Week probably have to buy external monitor.
Fantastic content! Thank you. The Monitor+ app is unreal. So much quality packed into an affordable package. Question - do you have any idea why I cannot review videos through the app? I click on the memory cards to the right of the record button. I see images but no videos. Any tips? Thanks.
Hi Mark! When you're in the review page, up on the left there is a checkbox indicating if you can see both photos and video. Maybe one them is not checked ? Also, while checking it to answer you I noticed there was a massive update in the app, try to to update yours also before anything to see if it was some sort of bug ! Thanks for watching !!
Yeah, there is ! The limitation comes according to your camera, because on some it will only work with the wired connection, and to have it working on wired connections you need the paid version. So depends!
Using your current phone is not ideal as people are texting and ringing you all the time. Won't your monitor shut off when your phone starts ringing? Would be better to have a second phone for this purpose ( Like your old phone )
Definitely better to use a phone that's not connected to the network. I put mine in Do Not Disturb mode, so notifications get muted. I don't receive many calls, but you could do Airplane Mode if you do.
Hi Enzo! Yes, it does not record to the phone like it was an external recording device, so if that's what you need you'll have to take a loot at an Atomos or something similar!

Is there a monitor + pro cracked version
Not working with my a7III wired...tested with a Xiaomi MI 8 and Samsung Tab S8 ultra .. app detects the camera but does not connect......
Hi Juan! By any chance do you know if the Xiaomi and the Tab support OTG ? What about the cable you're using ? This can be the issue. It needs to pass on the data towards the phone.
@@FlyEnri hi, it was a versión issue, solved on 1.2... thanks.
bro when i try to connect its showing not supported what to do please suggest . i have a7m3
Hi dear!! Are you trying wireless or cable? A7III only with cable and cable only after buying it!
Hello FlyEnri,
Thank you for your video :-)
The BALLS to see that we can't even use the Sony A7III without a cable.
Still I've been using it these days and it's been helping a lot.
hi! there is no ibis nor face detection?
Hi Nicolas !! Unfortunately no, this is a limitation of some cameras when using any kind of external monitor device, by USB or HDMI. Thanks for watching!
Does it work on sony a 6000
Hi dear!! Unfortunately the 6000 is not one of the listed compatible cameras!
@@FlyEnri yeah it's not working at all.
Same story on an a6500. I regret this purchase.
I imagine you already saw this page right ? monitorplus.cc/docs/general/connecting-to-your-camera/wired-connection/ So USB power off, connections as PC Remote, cable OTG enabled...yeah that should be enough...
@@FlyEnri turned out to be something with the OTG cable I had. Works flawlessly now that I ordered a different cable
Man I hope they make this for other brands like Fuji!
It's amazing Andrew! At least I guess most Fuji's have the flip out screen, no? Which one you got ?
@@FlyEnri I'm still using the X-T3 so I have tilt but no flip 😊
Ahhh it only tilts, like the A7iii then!
Muito bom mano! Instalando agora mesmo! Valeu
Po é muito maneiro, to usando direto aqui! Mas usa com o cabo, bem melhor! :D Valeu por assistir !!
It also 100% supports the new SONY A7R5
Great to know Tom!! Do you have one? How is it been so far ?
Also, here is a chart from the Monitor Plus website that shows which Sony cameras can make the most of the app. monitorplus.cc/docs/general/camera-compatibility-and-capability/
Thank you for making these videos. You are really helping people out. Saving people time and money. Best regards
it doesnt work to a6400?
It works with the A6400 but only on wired mode ! Thanks for watching !!
Works wired on the a6400 but I had to purchase a cheap HDMI capture card
Oh interesting! So you're connecting the HDMI output to the capture card and then into the phone? In theory it should work even only with the USB cable, have you tried it?
The app is good but very slow lagging live video if using iphone (wifi only). Extreme lag. And warms the phone a little bit, not much. Week probably have to buy external monitor.
I'm using mainly with the cable also here, with that it's perfect, but sometimes wireless I noticed also too much lag. Gotta go Android ! hahahaha
The app is called Monitor+
you’re welcome
Hi Andrei! Exactly, that's the name, the link is in the description if you wanna be sure to go to the right one :D Thanks for watching !
Fantastic content! Thank you. The Monitor+ app is unreal. So much quality packed into an affordable package. Question - do you have any idea why I cannot review videos through the app? I click on the memory cards to the right of the record button. I see images but no videos. Any tips? Thanks.
Pardon me. I am using a Sony FX3 and the wireless IOS version. Thanks!
@@FlyEnri any plans add smart/AI features like Arsenal has?
One problem with Sony A7iii is that I can't recording doth sd card the same time. And it's not good....
Hi John! For me there are still two problems: the SD card issue and the stabilization. When they manage to fix these 2 this app will be unbeatable.
is this app free version also??
Yeah, there is ! The limitation comes according to your camera, because on some it will only work with the wired connection, and to have it working on wired connections you need the paid version. So depends!
Wish it worked with A7ll.
It's really handy ! Guess with A7ii the best option would be a proper external monitor then. Feelworld makes great cost benefit ones!
I don't receive many calls, but you could do Airplane Mode if you do.
with this app and the a7iii record only with sd :-(
Hi Enzo! Yes, it does not record to the phone like it was an external recording device, so if that's what you need you'll have to take a loot at an Atomos or something similar!
why can't find in android store?
Hi dear! Only from their own website ! It's not on Play Store yet !
iphone it's can be?
Unfortunately no dear, so far only for Android !
it's not support my a6500 😢it need 5G wifi
Ohhh too bad :/ I have another video on how to use another app at least to have the screen a bit bigger, might help, but it's definitely not the same!
It wont work on my a7iii
Oh, what is happening ? I still use it on mine no problems !
Unfortunately I have to connect via USB for my a7riii, I want to take self portraits
Hi dear!! Yeahhhh, you need the cable for this one, but for portraits i prefer to use the remote app! Check the imaging edge app !
@@FlyEnri I have it and use it but there's no touch to focus. I also have an a7riii I'll try that and see
doen't work with any of my sony cameras useless for 5t 6000 a7ii rx0 shame
Hi Dave! There is a page on the website with all the compatible models. Unfortunately older ones are not supported really...
It doesn’t work with my a7ii😭
Unfortunately the a7ii is not supported!!
No idea what your talking about I was lost in the first minute.
0,75x speed, hahahahaha It's the only solution now that the video is out there :) I'll keep it slower if possible
so much lag on this app
On the wireless connection you mean ? It's definitely not super fast, but with the cable it's perfect. Which one did you experience lag ?
@@FlyEnri thank you for the reply! I only tried the wireless connection. Will have to try it with the cable!
