Power Rangers doesn't have as big a following as the Sentai does in Japan, most people who watch PR these days don't even know who the Mighty Morphin guys are, so why does it matter if they don't know who AkaRanger is? They'll either call them old teams we never saw, or simply have everyone come together from alternate dimensions or something.

The point of Gokaiger is to collect ultimate powers from previous ranger teams. Guess what, 16 missing teams, since aquatar rangers were kakuranger, means a HUGE plothole that no amount of writing, good or bad, will be able to fill in.
