He told me that, after 40 years of traveling, he is STILL nervous when passing semi's. It never goes away, and don't LET it go away. Don't ever think "it won't happen". Be prepared. I drive across some of North Americas most dangerous highways every week, and deal with hundreds of semi's. Each one I pass requires due care.

Pretty sure modern liquid tanks are designed not to pull the vehicle off of the road when they try to shift lane but who knows, maybe they didn't think it would be worth fixing that little issue.
