Beautiful Taylor Creek - thanks for taking us along - looks like some tough fishing - but you got some and loss a few - that first one by the log jam was nice - catch you later🎣👊👍
Right on. Glad you enjoy it because there will hopefully be a lot more to come as I continue to load up my channel playlists. At least that's the plan!
Always enjoy watching your show Amani. Not 100% certain but you may have been a month early for fishing Taylor Creek. I think July 1st. Just looking out.
The current fish and wildlife guide has it clearly listed under trout waters with special regulation chart as opening the Saturday before Memorial day until September 30th. The forest service sire has it July 1st but I think that's outdated because the Fish and Wildlife guide just moved it up to Memorial day Weekend and I don't think the Forest service site was updated to reflect the changes. It's under lake Tahoe tributaries in the fish and wildlife guide. I think that alphabetical chart starts on page 56 to make scrolling to it easier if you want to take a look.
Tahoe tributaries to the first lake artificial lures with barbless hooks only. Special regulation chart starts , I believe, page 55 or 56 of the regulation guide online.
Right on. Glad you are tuning in. I probably have nearly 700 videos across my channel playlists and the plan is to have a lot more in the days to come. I guess we'll see how that goes!
I was using a maribou jig and panther martins at east walker. Panther Martins are making a single barbless hook on some of their spinners on the website.
I change out the hooks myself. You can buy an "open eye" hook that goes right in the loop where the treble was. I usually go one size down on a single over what comes on the PM #6 and #4.
@@jfowler7604 I also change out the trebles on my spinners to a size 6 Gamakatsu Siwash (open eye) hook. Otherwise, I just cut off one of the three hooks and then crimp down the barbs.
Right on. Tough creek to fish, especially with the high water. I have driven over it enough times without ever stopping I figured I might as well go take a look.
Hey Amani. Don’t know about you but I get more satisfaction catching fish in creeks and rivers than fishing lakes. Great content with Wilderness With Amani. See ya. Rick in SD
I generally feel the same but I do love fishing backcountry alpine lakes. At least, once I figure out the fishing during the times when the fish don't seem to want to cooperate!
@@wildernesswithamani1027 Amani. You have a reputation with the trout in the Sierra. They see your shadow and know what’s coming. They get outta there.LOL
Howdy Amani, aka king of Tahoe shore fishing!!!! Damn I knew lahontans were here but never actually saw the proof!!!! So long story shore, I’m flying up from Vegas to watch the ACC in July and me and my bud are probably gonna hit your spots near cave rock or sand harbor, I have a billion flavors and colors of powerbait but which one have you found to be irresistible for Tahoe since we have limited time
Right on. Get out on the Lake Early in July would be my recommendation. Crack of dawn most likely. I have fished Tahoe a few times in the Summer. I might hit it once or twice more while I'm waiting for the high elevation fishing in the backcountry to open up.
That’s my favorite color panther Martin…. Extremely effective. In small creeks with super clear water when it’s very sunny try and all black panther martin…. Black blade and black body…. No colors or markings…. That black color silhouettes the lure extremely well against the bright sky and makes it very easy for the trout to spot… give it a try
Right on. I have an all black panther martin that just has yellow spots that I sometimes bust out. I love panther martins because the blades spin easy with a lot of vibration and the lead body makes casting and fishing deep easier.
i fly fish it a few times per year.. 7.5 foot 4 weight is a great rod to use.. and i have a few flys i tie, that work well on the creek.. all barbless of course
I'm sure when the salmon are spawning in the Fall there will be bears. Not much room on these small tributaries for all of us. If I see a bear feeing in the creek or hanging around I think I'll just let it have the space!
Nice catches with novel techniques! Those cutthroats probably hang around all summer in Taylor to feast on the eggs of spawning red (sockeye) salmon that are famous in Taylor in August.
That's why I think there had to be some big ones in there. The one I lost in front of that log was nice. I bet big trout follow the salmon up the river just to feed on the eggs.
Right on. I have clips for fishing all around the area on my channel playlists if you haven't seen a lot of it and are interested. Rivers, reservoirs, Lake Tahoe itself, I have videos for all of it. Suggestions for how to catch trout in all of the places can be found on my fishing tips playlist. My channel homepage is a good place to start. Good luck.
Right on. After all of the times I have driven over it I can't believe this was the first time I actually stopped to fish it. I guess the main reason is I'm not up in this area a lot when the tributaries are open. In the Summer if I'm in the area it's usually for the backcountry fishing.
What are the fishing regulations for this creek? I looked at the current regulations and didn’t find any special regulations under section 7.40 or 7.50
The tributaries to Lake Tahoe are covered under Lake Tahoe on the special regulation chart for trout waters. Covers all tributaries for lake Tahoe up to the first lake. Long story short, no bait, artificial barbless/ catch and release only, short season. Easy to find on the chart. Covers the areas where the creeks enter the lake as well.
I was thinking about scouting out the non, private end of Fallen Leaf Lake. I'm not a fan of the narrow roads and mostly private areas on the developed side.
@@wildernesswithamani1027 you can walk up along Taylor Creek from highway 89 and you will shortly reach fallen leaf lake . At the mouth of Taylor Creek there's a spillway

The fishing wasn't easy but I think I'll try to hit the tributaries again in the Fall when the flows are down.
Always a pleasure watching you fish. Thanks Amani!

Pretty little Cutties. In the fall that creek is much smaller and full of spawning salmon + an occasional bear.
Yeah, I want to try to hit some inlet streams this Fall when the kokanee are in them. Bears, not so into running into them!
