God us so good to us! He delivered me from alcohol 3 years ago and I don’t crave it or want it at all! I cried out to him and asked him to help because I couldn’t do it alone. He heard my cry and answered me. All the glory to our God!
What an outstanding sermon. Many years ago I had an uncle who was an alcoholic. He was raised in a strict Christian home. However how unwittingly my grandfather made some wine from the wild blackberries growing on the farm. We got a little glass of “juice” at Christmas time and thought no more about it. But my uncle did.,,,,,,,slowly the supply in the cellar dwindled. Grampa didn’t make anymore. My uncle went to work in Vancouver. We knew almost nothing of him except that he played baseball for a famous team and got the highest marks in Canadian history needed by the Postal system. But no one went to his baseball games. After all we lived 50 miles away and had cows to,milk. I think he was lonely and looking for acceptance. Someone noticed his vulnerability and lured him into secret government activity where they drank. So he drank. More and more. One day my dad got a call, from the police to,come get my uncle who was stone drunk in some ditch. Dad found his room was stacked to the ceiling with empty vodka boxes. My uncle lost his job and came home to live with gramma,,,,,(grandpa had just passed away)for years, He swindled her out of thousands of dollars,,,,,so he could keep on drinking. He his it well,,,,at least from me. Mom did tell me that the doctors had told my dad to find his booze and break the bottles while holding his brother down,,,,,,which only made things worse. He apparently became known to local police for being a nuisance but by then I was married and had moved away. Then he became violent so gramma moved into a Mennonite care home where she grieved till her death at 97 for her son. He committed suicide at age 50. No wife. No children. He was 9 years older than me. Im 76 now. Yesterday Imgot a call that a nephew to my son in law died of an overdose way down east. He was 24!!! I only met him once. A lovely boy with Christian, parents. WAKE UP CHURCH. START TO REALLY CARE WHEN YOU SEE SOMEONE ON YOUR FRINGES.‼️
